  1. I always thought it sounded a lot like tracker music, except for the fact it had effects. At the time, I dismissed the notion, as I figured it unlikely he'd even have heard of trackers. But now it's come out that some of Drukqs was tracked, I think it's likely the Richard D. James album was too. Maybe he rendered the separate multitracks and applied effects in post. Or maybe the samples already had them (which is how I did it, back in the day).
  2. I gave up on my personal copy and just went with the one at the Internet Archive, then amended the MusicBrainz entry to match it. I was going to finally sit down and listen to it all, but then the new shop happened... At any rate, that looks like the definitive version.
  3. This? Seems like bitcrushing to me. That's the one! Hmm, low sample rate, no reconstruction filter, leading to aliasing/folding? Yeah, that sounds likely. So probably something cheap and digital. (Or S+H, BBD, etc.) The symmetry on the other axis too suggests it could even be a pingpong loop on a sampler.
  4. Anyone wonder what that swirl is on No Cares? Frequency wise, it's symmetrical, which intrigues me.
  5. It has one, inasmuch as it's on a CD compilation.
  6. Let's resurrect this thread to include this video of Vordhosbn being played by PlayerPro:
  7. Just send him/warp a message/ Good idea, thanks! I've now sent one. I (re-)bought a bunch of Aphex Twin albums a few months ago on the main Bleep store, so I'm hoping the new tracks will be copied to the main store, or the purchases on the main store will be copied across to the Aphex Twin one. I can't imagine I'm the only person hoping that, either! Well, I got a reply. That's a "no". Shame.

  9. Ooh, do we get the bonus tracks? That'd be nice. But e.g. https://bleep.com/release/20409-polygon-window-surfing-on-sine-waves isn't listing Clissold like https://aphextwin.warp.net is... Maybe it's teething issues?
  10. I guess I shouldn't have bought a bunch of these on Bleep a few weeks ago, given the new bonus tracks...
  11. I've finally officially released a few of my more recent tracks. They're available at Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify etc. https://zoeblade.bandcamp.com/album/solderside-sessions-01
  12. Ooh, now that's more interesting... Yes, I should work a lot more on taking the listener on a journey, especially of emotions, throughout the track, and more nuanced ones at that. Thank you, that's really useful.
  13. Heh, I think others here also mentioned it was too happy for their liking. That's fine, we can have different preferences. I was going for that kind of a vibe, so if you don't like it for that reason, then I'd say that's a success. I saw a review of a book once, complaining that it wasn't a pack of sausages. That's not really anyone's fault, hehe... It's actually kinda interesting how independent music with artistic integrity is often depressing, while more commercially successful and accessible music is often happy... Perhaps because most people prefer being uplifted by entertainm
  14. Very nice. Reminds me of Micronaut, maybe even Leftfield. I guess I'm not familiar enough with that dub house sound to know how much this does or doesn't stand out from the rest of the genre... I like it, the way I like everything else I've heard that sounds like this. Maybe it would benefit from some kind of unique hook?
  15. It's very nice, but I agree it sounds very reminiscent of Analord. Try putting more of your own unique spin / voice on it.
  16. After analysing Autechre's Bike, I started experimenting with both rhythmic swirly pads and sustaining interest over a longer piece of music. This is the result. (It admittedly came out more Orbital than Autechre, but hey, I'm happy.) How did I do? https://soundcloud.com/zoeblade/a-new-start
  17. I just caught the tail end of BBSes, the same time I started dialling into the 'net in the mid nineties. Last I heard, FidoNet was still going in Russia, but that was a while ago now. On another fun note, listening to Amiga mods on headphones is why I have no problem listening to The Beatles in stereo on headphones either. Hard panning's fine to me. It was good enough for the REDD desk and the Amiga.
  18. I had the Binary Zone tape of Amiga mods, which I still love.
  19. I'm sure I saw at least two pairs of microphones on tripods, set up for binaural recording. It looks pretty well recorded.
  20. Ali Jamieson and co wrote a few such guides, to Xtal and Climbatize, for instance.
  21. I'm pretty sure [Parallel Stripes] is in the key of B major.
  22. Good advice.. on the other side though, I feel that using one name for *everything*, especially in my case, where I have trouble focusing on one genre, isn't really appropriate. This is the main reason why I started the 0F.digital project, since it's pretty much the opposite of most of the music I've been releasing as Pselodux. I had attempted to consolidate all of my electronic music into the Pselodux name, but it got a bit disjointed when minimal tech and IDM was being shown on the same bandcamp page as what that particular name has become semi-known for, ie. super composed 80s prog meta
  23. I'm up for any album recommendations, thanks! Out of those, I know the Apollo sublabel of R&S, whose File Under Ambient compilation switched me on to David Morley, who I'm digging these days. DiN's another good label. But yeah, I'd love to know of more. I'll check those others out, thanks!
