Case was passionate about music, especially hip-hop dabbling in projects and productions of his own. He's also always been one of the biggest supporters of my own electronic music productions and appreciated a handful of other electronic producers. In our talks about music, we'd often discuss how the genres easily intertwine... Case struggled with many mental health issues and addictions in his later life which was tragically ended on 2/10/22 as he fell victim to senseless gun violence... This summer I packed up from living in the Twin Cities in Minnesota and headed out west to live on my wife's family ranch in rural western South Dakota. This mix is inspired by that move and living out here in the great western expanse, cowboy country, etc. Lots of twangy guitars, bluesy soul, bluegrass, psychedelic riffs, desert drones, etc. Without a doubt the least IDM mix I have ever compiled, it's really not an electronic mix at all really, but I think it turned out pretty well. Had a lot on my mind lately, between being on furlough for COVID-19 since mid-March, to watching a revolution start in my hometown after cops murdered an innocent man in broad daylight, while meanwhile our fascist president gives zero fucks. Disenchanting times for sure and I wanted to create a mix that captured this current zeitgeist, with all the uncertainty and instability through broken & off-kilter rhythms, hazy synths, and disenchanted rhymes...
