The Martian - visually, unremarkable. utterly drab and no fun to look at. who wants to look at a Mars movie, with space stations, spaceships and stuff? fucking LAME
-
Sean mentions this 12" in the RA interview... sorry if already posted. straight up 90s autechre -
why didn't they present the Standard Mail option yesterday? frikkin SNAKE-ass fuxx0rs

Is everyone buying the cassette as preferred way to listen, or just because it's limited edition? I don't even own a cassette deck anymore.
I would've purchased it to play it on the deck, but after seeing the price (+ shipping), I'll just wait for the CD to appear at my local shop. Notice Recordings (label) sells tape recordings on chrome and cobalt tape stock for approx. $8 apiece.. same with Drag City, for more novelty items (DC uses normal tape stock)... paying upwards of $30 for a novelty just isn't realistic. Cheers to all y'all collectors
complaining about the price of a limited Aphex release kek
whatever it costs it's gonna sell for twice as much. There's no losing money. It's an investment
yeah, if you leave it wrapped in plastic. what if you actually play it? i don't purchase music to not listen to it. good investment, sure

$17 USD, what a fucking joke
omg people love complaining about being poor and entitled
:^) !!!
not complaining, it appears that they're using shit tape stock for an item that should be priced at approx. $7
it's simply unreasonable.

what are people paying BLEEP for the shipping cost to the US?

$17 USD, what a fucking joke

what was the tape cassette priced at on BLEEP?
£10.99
i'm guessing it's Type I (normal bias) tape stock?

i was disappointed they didn't use some better material from the live stuff, upon hearing c16 deep tread and feed1, but the whole thing has grown on me (elseq 1, especially)
listening back to the Denver recording, the opening part is absolutely phenomenal, flowing and psychedelic stuff. but it's just a shitty audience recording. acdwn2, if it's at all reminiscent of the 'opening part' of the live recordings, it lacks the fluidity that made the original (?) material so good. probably a futile observation/remark

Joda Clement has put out a couple of real nice releases in the last year... "I hope you like the universe" and then there's "Sea Songs"https://noticerecordings.bandcamp.com/album/i-hope-you-like-the-universe
probably my most played album last year -
not really sure what multimedia and collage "content" is being talked about, but i have to admit i was somewhat intrigued by dom's force publique congo project. too bad it seems to be now dormant.
next up: anyone checking out dario fariello?
he sees his work as a collage project in the sense that every type of media involved is of equal importance, and made with equal effort and deliberation. i.e the album artwork, other visual imagery - either in additional inserts or the way a release is packaged, text (lyrics, track titles, quotes and essays included in a release), indeed live performance as well, and of course, the actual music in the audio sense. all of these elements are working together to reinforce each other and give context to one another, and can change how you interpret one aspect compared to another. all of it comes together as a final piece in the same way a collage does.
i hope that makes sense, because i'm doubting myself while writing it
how is this different than any other serious artist?
i've only heard a few releases of his (primarily Bermuda Drain and Frozen Niagra Falls), kinda put off by the production/mastering... is all of his music produced like that (near-clipping/distorted) ?? it really detracts from the power of the music, imo

(personally I don't care about physical, haven't bought cd/vinyl in the last 10 years or so... been probably even longer since I've burned anything to a disk, I mean lol? People still have computers which can do that..? seems as backwards as printers to me....)
lol!? a functioning desktop computer, how BACKWARDS of me. I should just chuck it and get an ipad.. love those touch screens!
seriously, i like that all of the elseq mp3s fit on one cd-r, and i can play it on my stereo. CD is still a viable medium, despite your super-advanced mentality
i mean, lol!?

Or do you think most of my disappointment comes solely from not understanding the parts and that everything I dislike is simply me being confused? Can you explain?
no, the emphasis is on disappointing elements or parts.. did not mean to imply you're turned off or annoyed by parts that might not be fully understood at first.

it's like, why not listen to the music then? all of this exposition feels like basic common sense... except the part where you realised something else was happening in Surripere, something that severely disillusioned you somehow, as if the music is supposed to be this perfect thing, and there's no chance that you could somehow apply those attributes of the flawless illusion you once held in the past, to something else down the road? i don't understand how it is so disappointing.
The music I buy has to be as flawless as possible in the given context. It is hard to define because it is my subjective thing and I can overcome some "mistakes" easier than others. Dunno what else to say really. I can't force myself into feeling that those bits I really disliked were actually OK. Can you do that? I can't. Impossibru.
Can you listen to a piece of music, be floored/stimulated by certain parts or elements, and also be disappointed (by possible "mistakes"), or not fully understand other parts of the same piece of music? Can you accept that it can be several things without fully adhering to some insane criteria?

re: Jev, people/music analogy (sorry) -- with people, you're not analyzing every little thing during each interaction. there are so many variables at play.. familiarity with their 'ticks' and "nuances" develops over time... why make it into such a formal exercise? what is wrong with playing a video game while listening to this stuff? it enhances the experience. plus, some people naturally catch details while they're not fully focused on the thing.. passive listening can open up channels, indeterminately
