  1. I don't know, some of the songs are super different 45rpm +~3 on the pitch slider..

fun and funky and engaging. very happy even. feels more like the chartreuse used for the branding..

    for me it's like 2 different ideas.. 33rpm +~6, 45 +~3

list not complete, might add from tracks already on SC or from the archives, I have started a bit to knock the order into shape.
or take away tracks if they dont fit, so feel free to omit some.
These tracks are mostly from the same era with a few newer and older ones that were on SOSW1.
SOSW1 was also a mixture of old ones like polygon window, audax and newer ones like Quoth, so I dont mind mixing it up again a little bit.
If you would like to try and order this, it would be very helpful and might end up getting used :)
Im currently working on new stuff, so not in the mood to do it.
Would love to release this on Warp, all mastered properly, maybe a dble album, Warp?
Wish Rob Mitchell was around to help, RIP Rob, your still very, very missed man!

edit: nvm I think I found some tracks. also I don't get it the account seemed different last time I saw it but it's at least a month old and the new stuff doesn't sound like him to me

  4. fogbeak immediately a huge win by me. feels like I stumbled upon another aphex alias..

edit: makes me want to be a dj if that makes sense. I want to share it with people.

edit 2: also like a few of these others custom acid break, spectrum, etc. just an all in all good drop here I think. thanks as always Richard!

    love you all

    your pal ooze

yeah. really exciting when you put it like that.

haven't weighed in previously. I've been listening to these tracks every so slowly while running. probably only heard 20 so far, Parking Lot and Pink Floyd my favorites so far. it's wonderful to float the experiments and variety. really fun to listen to. thank you Richard!!

i wish i could download this album Pre mastering. I get a bit of ear fatigue (i think). maybes its my imagination

    agree agree agree agree

it's somehow warm, claustrophobic, compressed, dark, and strident IMO

I'm still having trouble breaching the album and I think that's why. I'm bummed too because I hoped for a long time for an official release of Metz so I could use it as a new reference track.. maybe I'm just not looking at it right

it's a lot of kind of positive music. it seems like a lot of musicians start out with some aggression in their music and then their later work is more positive, maybe because they're initially drawn to music as a way to work through some frustration, and then later feel responsibility for the effects of their music being listened to by the masses, and they don't want to just put out a way to indulge in negative feelings. even earth portal which starts out with like a dark heavy vibe soon shifts to more jazzy, lofty elements.

things aphex mentioned in interviews are really relevent to syro. it's like he wanted to explain it a little. i find it enlightening how he said that these are songs where he is done with their respective styles. i associate this with a comment he had made in earlier interviews about how when musicians use styles he pioneered he lost interest in them and felt like they were taken from him. i can see how the syro songs are styles he had exhausted, they each feel very complete unto themselves. syro could have been 12 awesome singles. not to say it doesn't flow, i think the flow of it is great (especially on a great system), but i usually listen to it skipping to specific tracks, and it's interesting how each song covers it's own unique territory. it brings the album to a new level that it is a collection of these kinds of songs.

dunno if that helps you at all. not sure why you don't like xmas. i have to be in the right mood for it, often right after leaving work. it's very subtle and deep. it's kind of amazing how deep and subtle it is, it's kind of hard to believe that he found a way to convey that mood in that way.

sorry if I was unclear. thanks for the explanation.

all I meant was XMAS isn't mastered well to my ear. I was sure it was going to be my 2nd favorite track ever after Flim but I ended up preferring the live version. same with the Barbican track. I just really liked the extra space in Metz.. I think the mastering is warm, claustrophobic, compressed, and strident. I'm not talking about the composition.

  8. I have one little gripe with a track on this album and I'm wondering if the live recording at Metz has messed with my perception of this song, but XMAS_EVET10 [120][thanaton3 mix] sounds overly compressed to me. Aesthetically it sounds in balance with the rest of the album, but I feel some of the ambience is lost in the compression. It's like the song can't 'breathe' like it's supposed to.

I think that's the darkness and warmness I was referring to earlier. I think the speakers in the venue gave it more space. Also, put a visual EQ on it. It might have just been me but it looked like there was a notch taken out of the high frequencies.

I can't search the topic, I hope this hasn't already been asked.

I had some Leffe in London, Brussels and it was really good I thought. Got some in the states, 3 times if memory serves and it was awful. Tasted sort of rancid. Anybody know why this happens to imported beers?

    Inb4 Leffe bashing

just old & skunked my friend. Probably sitting on the shelf forever. There are stores I go to & know they get rid of old product after a period of time. Reputable places that care about the consumer. There are also stores that have about 10 years worth of dust on bottles & could give a shit about the customer. "We have 1000s of microbrews, largest selection in state, blah blah blah." That's great, but, it's old & quite shit. You have to be careful when buying lower abv brews from places like that.

Look to ratebeer or beer advocate & search stores in your area. Should be reviews about whether you should give them your business or not for the most part.

    no leffe bashing here either.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try it again, a very studious store just opened up next to me and they have it.
