  1. this is probably my fav ae since quaristice, which is my fav ae ever. kinda wish they would trim it down to 100 minutes or something. i know its heresy but i'd much rather have a tight album i can go through in one sitting than nearly 5 hours i have to scatter across my everyday activities. it's just overwhelming to absorb if you're planning to listen to anything beside autechre for the rest of your life.

    i hope they won't go physical because i will 100% buy it and it will probably bankrupt me.

  2. save up some cash, buy some stuff cheap, sell not that cheap, repeat until satisfactory.

    good tip is - learn about popular defects like dead batteries and stuff that make keyboard appear nonfuctioning. this way you can buy a supposedly 'dead' keyboard for 30 euros and sell it for 300 after replacing a 1eur battery or something. like dx7, poly800, etc. unless you were unlucky and it really was just dead. a guy i know bought a very rare crumar for 100 euros that was 'untested' and it turned out there was no electronics inside it.

    be smart, generally speaking.

    the xmas / bradleys echoes connection got me thinking - is there, like, a list of similarities like this (sc tracks being connected to his released works) floating around? or is it jus that one thing (aside from the demos, that is)

    Dunno if I'm getting your question right here but that docsheet (see jejunum's post) has quite nice side notes section where are plenty of notes about those similarities. Here are few from the top of my mind, alas quite obvious and somewhat subtle ones

    afx origTheme and Spectrum -> UT1-Dot

    P-string -> Quoth(s)

    Original Chaos Riff-> Cuckoo

    beginning of Mooow -> Phloam (ok, this is quite IMO)

    bob Morgan'n Robocop samples -> Green calx

    this is exactly what i meant, thanks. the docsheet is great but also very annoying with all the sideways scrolling (prolly why i missed the footnotes in the first palce).

  4. HW is great if that's what you need for your, um, vision . i've seen so many people waste silly money on instruemnts just to recreate what tey were doing in ableton, only WITH HARDWARe because for some reason people think it's better to spend 20 minutes slicing up a sample in electribe than just do it in 5 seconds in ableton.

    ...it took me over a year to complete through trial and error. which isn't that long but i went through, like, 30 different machines, constantly buying and selling.

    Wow. I wouldn't have energy for that.

    oh man. "over a year" doesn't sound too bad!!! nice work man

    I would be nervous about re-selling those stuff. Definitely a nice work.

    thanks. it was kinda fun, but also frustrating because i was always so close, yet also kinda far.

    most expensive synth i had was a roland mc202, which was fairly disappointing for the inflated nostalgia price (the cv/gate latency was just unbearable sometimes), althought i do miss the amazing melodic filter. other than that - i kept the prices rather low, and usually knew pretty much off the bat if the synths gonna work. i ain't no collector so if it didn't fit it had to go. i basically made an initila investment of about 400 quid and kept selling and buying until it was done. kinda like the paperclip for a house thing.

    this is basically my dream set-up and it took me over a year to complete through trial and error. which isn't that long but i went through, like, 30 different machines, constantly buying and selling.

    hardest part was buying a cheap multiple outs analog mixer, so that i wouldn't have to go directly into the soundcard.

  7. my friend loaned me big loada cd when i was 15, loved it,. checked out other 'driil'n'bass' (that was a thing, wow) and eventually ended up on autechre through aphex twin/warp connection. i was a weird teenager.

    it was in 2002 so in my pre-internet years btw, im very proud of my research.

  8. i would instroduce myself but im too busy posting my songs to richard's soundcloud so he could listen to them and help me get a deal with warp

    anyway, anyone noticed how mello punchy is (at least partially) a room recording? there's a distinct electrical hum at the very beginning.

  9. ok so i'm up to 150 tracks from the main SC, plus the "Girl Boy (Dark Version)" (thankyou to those who managed to get that, and the fmsubBasss track).

    what's this about a sped-up version of Red Calx mentioned in the google doc? does anyone have a copy of that floating around? :)

    there's a regular red calx, and the slowed down one. i think you mean the former -

  10. Still as disappointing as it was when it was first released

    this. i try to listen to it from time to time, but it's just not that good of an album. not boc good, at least. and it's not like my interest in boc faded - geogaddi, twoism and hi scores are still on regular rotation. i kinda feel the same about campfire headphase (was there for the premiere as well). both albums are pretty good, but kinda not boc-level good. but then again everything they did up to that point was nearly perfect in every way, i guess it's hard to follow up a masterpiece like geogaddi properly.

  11. wow this is awesome....what if that dude was right, and we wrote 1000 times that maelstorm sounds like da pusha sound and steinbord now has to step out of the shabows and new musics!!! we did it goys!

    it was me. i'm always right :emotawesomepm9:

  12. guys, i had a theory that if we write that maelstron sounds like my fucking sound for 10000000 times the true artist will reveal himself but it turns out not true because this was 1000001 time this was brought up and still nothing.

  13.

    where did this come from? I never heard it before.

    The channel is old and always posted good stuff. It may be legit.

    (even though it sounds kinda shitty IMO)

    not to be a bummer but a leak through youtube is pretty unlikely as the copyright algorythm catches even parts of audience recordings of album tracks. how the hell would someone get away with an entire song?
