  1. Quatermass and the Pit Nice and meaty sci-fi, practical effects could have been a lil' better but happy to go along with the fun, the story is engaging enough for you not to care so much and experience it like a stage play Good stuff!
  2. Big Night What a gem, never heard about it till it was suggested to me. Well made, not perfect - but just a darn good film!
  3. Just saw they announced sampling with the op-z via a free software update, utilising the in-built mic or by plugging in a mic to headphone input...not out yet but coming soon also said they may be bringing out a sampling add on module also
  4. Thanking you for the help, master Modey! Think I may just take the plunge and get it off Thomann...can always return after 30 days ?
  5. Dang, and have you tried doing such yourself? The main thing i'm concerned about is the 'chord' track, or if you make chord progressions would this output in MIDI also?...or just root notes?
  6. Gents, quick OP-Z question... The idea of a portable 'groove box' allowing me to come with ideas on the fly then taking the projects to my hardware and expanding on them really interests me....however I cant seem to find a definite answer anywhere if you can transfer the MIDI from your created projects out of the OP-Z? I'm guessing with the USB-C you could record each track individually into ableton, but that sounds like a bit of a pain (but i'd take it if it was the only option!) Also, in terms of the master transpose/chord mode feature - does anyone know if the op-z outputs this info in MIDI, or is it just an internal algorithm? So it wouldn't output the correct chord in MIDI, just simply the root notes? Can anyone clarify all this for me, plzzz?
  7. thanks for this Found this related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-FB1_5pQNk
  8. Murder Party Big fun, way better than expected! Absoultely chuggs and zips along with great pace. only shy of 1hr 15mins but feels like a well developed epic.
  9. Chopper Great performance from Bana, instant cult classic. Venom Way better than I was expecting. Probably the best modern super hero film i've seen (not saying much). Was decent fun. Vevlet Buzzsaw Really wanted to love it but very flawed and misguided. Happy to see a mainstream film like this being made today, whacky trash horror throw back/arthouse mix. Jake was great. The Polka King Watched the end of it again last night with friends - tis' great! Jack Black's best performance, knocks it out'a the park.
  10. Gofundme has raised over $150,000 to pay the poor caterer. Ah that's great! Although no doubt there were others who were left out of pocket that just didn't feature in the docu
  11. Fyre New docu on Netflix about the Fyre festival fiasco. Anxiety inducing, how they all went along with it for so long is worrying...miracle no one died. Fun watch, but gotta feel for those locals ;(
  12. also just saw Aquaman the other day! Was a 4DX 3D screening! Mad stuff. Seats moving and punching you in the back, water sprays, cold air shooting all over the place...bubbles dispersed! Overall my review for this movie was - it was very cold.
  13. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Shite. Pure shite. How this got such rave reviews I dont know. Never experienced more of an exponentially decreasing intrest in a film before, litreally got worse every 5 minutes. Started interesingly enough, I could see McDormand was on good form and saw where all the praise for her performance came from, but everything else just fell into a heap of shite. Felt like the script was written by a teenager obsessed with Tarantino.Music/sound track was tonally all over the shop. Direction felt derivative and at times crossing into 'made for TV family movie' realms.
  14. It actually does improve greatly! Slow start, but huge adrenaline spike after the half or 3/4 point
  15. yea I absolutely loved it too! I felt it was rather mind bending, I hadn't heard anything about them finishing the film which the documentary follows, 'The Other Side of the Wind', and when i saw both of them suddenly on Netflix I started to wonder if there was some catch or trick behind it all Towards the end of the docu I thought maybe it was all going to be an elaborate posthumous fuck-you by Orson, sort of like 'F is for Fake' - all the years leading up to make a fake documentary within a documentary about a fake film within a film... close but not exactly, still cool though and looking forward to seeing the actual film
  16. Mandy Overall I really apprieciate its exsistence, but I couldn't help leaving the cinema with slightly less exuberance than I thought I would be...but I think when you build up to something it can never answer your expectations, and its a different experience watching it in a packed cinema where people are laughing/reacting to things you may not usually at home so it throws your perceptions off a bit. But the more I look back on it the more I smile and think how cool it was. Having said that, I think it jumps too far ahead of itself too early, and could have done with a more gradual rise, but thats just like nit-picking a dream, a silly thing to do, so i'm just looking forward to the next time I see it again! Upgrade Pretty decent sci-fi/action/body horror - nice to see they are till making them in this day and age Thelma & Louise Pretty decent, shame the ending is so well known. Always a pleasure to watch Susan :)
  17. You should like a film just because you like it, not because of what anyone else thinks - sounds as if you have a chip on your shoulder about some old 'friends' of yours who just rubbed you the wrong way. I think 2001 is the possibly the greatest film ever made, nothing comes close to it in it's scope and execution. It's just a pure gem. But that's just me! Waking Life is also great. Also, i'm pretty sure its Dark Side of the Moon mixed with The Wizard of Oz that peeps combine...but wouldn't be surprised about doing it to 2001 also.......sounds like a cool idea
  18. Breathing a slight sigh of release now that there are a few replies here...was starting to think I was the only fan Funnily enough - was at an after party last week and people were just throwing songs on youtube - I threw a George Clanton track on and it did not go down well with the room...awkward few minutes to say the least. Would hate to relegate him to a 'guilty pleasure' category just down to others peoples reactions, because he is actually doing great things musically. I too wasn't so keen on 200% Electronica, as it felt too much of a straight forward remix of 100%, but now its slightly grown on me, but wouldn't put it up there with his other stuff. Having said that, I really love the live stream he did as ESPRIT where he remixes his virtua.zip album - the tracks feel like they make more sense in a longer format
  19. Also goes under the ESPRIT name for his more vaporwave stuff Fell in love with his first album 100% Electronica - and now he just recently dropped a new album 'SLIDE' Had it on repeat the last week - not sure why it appeals to me so much, but it just does. Any fans here? Hope there isn't already a topic.
  20. You Were Never Really Here Very stylised and art house in its asthetics, but wrapped around a very dark thriller - makes for a good combo. Nice editing also! Master of the Flying Guillotine (1976) Class! Highly recommended for Kung-Fu fans. Non-stop crazy action, cool weapons, satisfying final scene, what more could one want.
  21. Ah, Rourke's always good! The Blob (1988) Holy moly, this was excellent! Great body horror/melt escapades - never really skimps on the money shots. Good fun guaranteed!
  22. Barfly is a classic. I was unemployed and drinking heavily around 12 years ago and entered into a major bukowski phase. Read all his shit, watched barfly all the time, and basically tried to live like Mickey rourke's character. Looking back it was pretty juvenile but fun while it lasted! Also I remember the movie was really hard to find back then. I rented it from blockbuster and they had an option to buy it for like $20 so that's how I got a copy. People on the imdb boards were having to buy Greek or Belgian subtitled versions or find it on vhs to be able to watch it. Did you ever find your Faye Dunaway? Interestingly enough, reading up on it after watching - there's a scene where the camera tilts up and shows her naked legs, sort of a POV from Mickey's perspective, twas' shot on her insistance and wasn't in the script. Worked for me It's on the UK/Ireland Netflix at the moment if anyones interested - might also be on the US
  23. Barfly - surprisingly pleasant! Was expecting Mickey Rourke's character to turn into a misogynist scum bucket at any minute but it just floats along at a gradual pace and illustrates a slice of life. Very little to it, but thats what makes it so strong. Odd Cannon release, but a nice addition to it's catolgoue of fun. The Void - some kewl sci-fi Lovecraftian/Mobius stuff, but felt a bit tacked on, would have been nicer if it developed that side more than the first halves mystery/thriller side. Great to see practical FX and 'Thing' inspired body horror.
