  1. Ghost Stories Recent anthology'ish stylish horror, with a bit of black comedy thrown in. Warp produced so you know it'll be of interest. Was a good time! Eye of the White Thanks to whomever suggested this a while back - absolutley loved it! Trippy psychedlic slasher. Great Arizona locations, amazing ending. Highly recommeded! Nightmare on Elm street III: Dream Warriors Was pretty good! Some amazing practical effects and lots of Freddy saying 'bitch', so whats not to enjoy.
  2. I broke and ordered the DFAM...so now i'm properly broke went down a dfam video hole, these put me over the edge
  3. Yeah I have one and I fucking love it. For me and my style it's perfect. I wish I had more because it can produce both drum and synth sounds; with the Beat Step Pro it's easy as fuck to program in melody lines, and that way you can get around the 8 step limitation. The last few pieces I've been working on are exclusively on the DFAM. It can take a while to record a song, because I essentially have to record a take, play that back and record another on top etc etc, but it's worth it. Here's a tiny little clip of something I'm working on of just the DFAM; https://www.dropbox.com/s/d6bhn3y1fvq327q/Man_Moth_v6_Clip.320kbps.mp3?dl=0 There's probably 3/4 layers there. Kick, Bass, Percussive sounds and a synth. Some of those are run through the Waldorf 2-Pole. Can't remember if I had anything on the master bus when I bounced it, but you get the idea. Nice! Sounds pretty wicked and menacing Love to hear the finished thing when she's done.
  4. anyone have any hands on play with the DFAM? Just saw they retail for juuussst about what i'd shell out if I was swimming in cash...for some reason I thought they went for around the 1K mark
  5. The Boxers Omen Masterpiece of madness, so much bizarre greatness here...do yourself a favor and find a good quality copy/rip of it (tis' hard but findable) 5 bags of popcorn horrible quality trailer, to give a flavor, but probably better off skipping it and going straight to the film for maximum astonishment :
  6. dang...here's hoping it magically reduces in price defo out of my budget...but would almost consider selling loads of bits to fund it...someday but sure, still looks very much a prototype...best wait and see what becomes of it
  7. ^ serious wow real wonky beats, guess thats down to the live loops, which is nice Don't know much about the company - any predictions on price? Are these usually limited runs/need to preorder?
  8. Absolute gem, first and only Irish Kung-Fu film ever made (probably not but who cares)...story goes he made it as a showreel of his talents when a Chinese film company showed intrest in casting him for a role. Hopefully the value isn't lost on non-Irish audiences. Best enjoyed with some mates and inebriation.
  9. :( i loved it :) The locations were beautiful for sure! Loads of great potential, but it just missed the mark for me - but that's not to say its awful or anything. It's better than most stuff put out, guess I just had a bigger expectation from it...that being said I would probably watch it again sometime also don't think there's a better actor playing the unhinged mother role than Grace Zabriskie, she's amazingly unsettling.
  10. My Son My Son, What have Ye Done? Really wanted to like this but the moments it tries to be a bit old skool herzog/lynch it just doesn't seem to hit the mark fully...great cast, has a lot going for it, but can't quite reach the greatness its trying to achieve. I'd say 3 bags of popcorn and a little figure of Michael Shannon.
  11. Anvil! The Story of Anvil Excellent docu, ticks all the boxes and a really fun ride, some of the stuff the film maker captures is pure gold... don't necessarily need to be into metal to enjoy (but it does make it all the better!)
  12. Wind River Not bad! Bit of a slow start but satisfying end. Renner channels some Charles Bronson vibes...or maybe Steven Segal from 'Sniper: Special Ops'
  13. Nice one! Thanking you kindly. Looking forward to checking it out
  14. Thanks to whomever suggested 'Angst' - was disturbing as it was good...great soundtrack by Klaus! Watched 'Fatal Instinct' - was on a bit of a spoof buzz, definitely not in the same league as Naked Gun etc. but fairly decent if you're in the mood Also recently watched 'Wrongfully Accused' ...have a feeling I already posted about it a few weeks back, but if not I HIGHLY recommend it! Leslie Nielson can do no wrong, and it's written/directed by Pat Proft who has pretty much written or helped write every great spoof film (naked guns, hot shots, scary movie) Also - can anyone help me out, trying to remember the name of this recent film from a few years back - it's shot like a 60s/70s sexploitation film, and follows some sort of witch or evil spirited lady(albeit an attractive one) who invites people back to her house and performs rituals?
  15. rewatched Dumb and Dumber To...starts pretty rocky but once it gets going it's actually not so bad! I'd say they could have cut out a few scenes and made it really tight. Jim is on form. Perhaps too many references to the original, works against itself. Has the laughs if you're in the mood!
  16. Nice Not a favorite, but interesting non-the less...
  17. Annihilation - Wouldn't say it's bad but just a little disappointing and typical of a film trying to shoe-horn in everything from the book (no i havn't read it), felt like there was no development, just new scene after new scene with little to introduce or close them...lots of wide coverage shots, no close up details and textures to such you into the universe. Felt like the interview scenes with natalie portman were unnecessary and could have been taken out...could have been great, just perhaps trying to do too much justice to the book? Paddington 2 - this is absolutely great fun! Highly recommend if you want some gentle fun escapism...
  18. +1 for Arizer Air - happy owner Highly recommend killing two birds with one stone when cleaning the stems. Simply toss em' in a pot on the stove, throw in enough milk/soya/alternative and slowly heat up + stir, does a decent enough job of cleaning the glass, then you use the milk for whatever you please! Also hope you've keeping your AVB! Just a sprinkle on a rice cake (or whatever) can get you toasted.
  19. Coco - what a gem, absolutely loved it. Best pixar/disney flick I can think of...close to Wall-e levels. Mysterious Skin - difficult watch, very well made but hard to argue the merit of why they even made it...maybe I just didn't fully get it, but felt rather exploitational and gratuitous with little message attached.
  20. Brawl in Cell Block 99 - Didn't feel this one, which is a shame as I had high hopes coming from Bone Tomahawk. Way too long and empty...just disapointing The Killing of a Sacred Deer - On the fence with this one - apprieciate it's large scope and cinematic intentions, but I'm not a fan of the the way Yorgos Lanthimos likes to direct dialogue, takes me out of it...also too long, but draws you in so it's not so bad.

  22. The Dark Backward Very odd, and at times grotesque, black kafkaesque comedy flick - would be a waste of time had it not been for the incredibly hilarious performace from Bill Paxton. Surpizingly large cast of 'big' names given the independant nature of it. Hard to truly recommend it, but if you're a fan of Paxton then definatley check it out, he elevates it to greatness.
  23. Watched this the other night, awesome stuff - wish they still made em' like that
