  1. I just looked on YT and they have it plus also the MST3K version, which should I watch (or rather, put on my Watch List but never actually view)? The original, it's really good. You will also get all sorts of BoC washed out 70's sci-fi vibes from it Yea defo original...don't have much experience with the MST3K boys, but usually they seem to only work when the film is utterly awful, but Phase IV is near a meisterwerk! Try seek out a bluray rip if you can, watching in as high quality as possible will only make the experience better
  2. Phase IV This was amazing. Intensive ant macro photography meets 2001: a space odyssey. Watch it if you have not.
  3. beautiful stuff, aencre! Have you ever made a 'full' comic? Would love to see more!
  4. watched Hellbound: Hellraiser II the other night on the recommendation of a previous post here, shame how poor it was. Really shouldn't have had any high expectations but I did really enjoy the first one, had a very odd charm to it. If anything it has inspired me to ween myself off the schlock and get back on the 'classic cinema' horse. It's rough days when your top must watch list comprise of Hellbound, Hollywood Cop and Critters...(still excited to see Hollywood Cop tho! )
  5. Can you recomend anything else good by him? Would love more in the similar vein, but seems this was his first foray into sci-fi if you cant read spanish there's quite literally no more Monteys for you to read unfortunately... [actually he has a graphic novel coming out on Image this year, written by Matt Fraction] he hasn't done any long format stuff actually, besides some zines from his early years. His body of work are long weekly series and political/social commentary strips he did for El Jueves, a weekly mag that he (and like a dozen other artists) abandoned when they got a cover censored and recalled with no prior warning for criticizing the King (in current year) that's all for today's "information no one asked for about authors you'll never read" Fascinating
  6. Can you recomend anything else good by him? Would love more in the similar vein, but seems this was his first foray into sci-fi
  7. The Stunt Man Great stuff, tis' bit of a psychedlic mind bending action comedy drama Peter O'Toole is brilliant as the mad director, cinematogphy is adventuroes and rewarding. Goes on slightly too long, but still fun throughout and keeps you wondering. 9 Stunts/10
  8. Picked 'universe!' up a couple weeks back - fisnished the frist 3 chapters and loving it, great sci-fi matched with great artwork http://panelsyndicate.com/comics/universe
  9. LIFE Maybe I was just in the mood to be swept away, but I went along with this ride and enjoyed every moment - good sci-fi Alien'esc fun, proper pop-corn flick! Nothing wrong with that...most of the time
  10. This is directed by Chris Walas who made his debut with The Fly II (a nostalgic masterpiece). Started to watch Maniac (2012) bloody 'ell it is gruesome. Feels like stepping into Condemned the computer game from years ago. Yes indeed! He also did the special effects for The Fly (1986), Gremlins and other hollywood greats - he defo shows his skills in The Vagrant, albeit rather ungratuitously, which is nice, holding back to use the good stuff for the right moments Would you recommend The Fly II? Been meaning to watch the original Maniac...thanks for reminding me - and I see they did a blu-ray of it, fingers crossed I can source it :D
  11. The Vagrant Forgotten black comedy/horror goodie staring Bill Paxton - very odd dream like/nightmarish vibe to the whole thing. Not amazing, but not bad! You get the sense everyone is trying to make it work, so you gotta commend them for that...tis' a bit of fun
  12. Congrats on the Solo Jazz Cup album! I dip in and out of this thread every now and then, usually the music is hit and miss - but that album is definitely a hit! Good stuff! Digging this... but also a bit perplexed as to what he's actually doing with that sampler? Is each song just broken into loops which he's jumping between, then a few stabby one-shot samples and some internal effects to tie it all together? Is it all his music or a mix of stuff?
  13. real sweet, bronchuseven - I wonder if you hung them from a corner with a light string they might spin in a cool fashion made another vid for recent track:
  14. Why do you recon they only made it an 8-track? Limitation is great and all that, but the MDUW can technically do 16 and that's ages old by now...surely it's not that processing heavy? ...or is it?
  15. sounds class - would love to hear some of your noodlings if you ever upload any with it
  16. keep us posted! *edit* havn't watched yet but saw this:
  17. looking forward to hearing proper youtuber' demo vids soon what i really love about the MDUW is that you can sit down, solely play with it, and with the cleaver use of sample/plocks come out the other end with a near finished track...digitakt sounds like it will be able to do that and more!
  18. really like the first one, auxien - looks like the front of a shutter for a shop on a distant alien dimension bronchuseven - I hope you're selling these at local markets or some equivalent? - would be lovely housing decorations - love the sense of space and shading the bottom one creates as a result of the LED Great work on that rally vid, Squee! The music mixed with the epic slow mo makes it feel like the cars are a benevolent sentient machine race and the humans are their slaves... Have 2 videos I recently did released today, made with a mix of stuff, Creators project were sound enough to share them: https://creators.vice.com/en_us/article/polyglove-90s-japanese-tv-glitch-music-video
  19. i'm liking it! Seems like an updated, easier to use and navigate MDUW....without the drum synthesis (Which i must admit I never go too deep into anyway) tempting, looks perfect for just switching on and getting satisfying results quickly
  20. ordered 2 minifooger pedals today...delay and drive takes the GAS off of wanting an OTO BIM...for now has anyone played with the minifooger pedals?
  21. Body Melt Forgotten Australian body horror/comedy flick - twas' good fun! Big production, didn't feel too cheap alike some films in this ballpark - loads of great practical effects...starts out great but slowly weakens as it goes along, but still worth a watch if you're in the mood for some splatter
  22. I rewatched Starship Troopers last weekend. It's still brilliant! Jaypers didn't know he made a new film - great news! Re-watched Show Girls the other night, zips along, sort of like cocaine for the eyes, splendid fun! Goes on that bit too long and the ending is a bit disappointing...but the rest makes up for it Pop goes the zipper
  23. ^ Twas' Ektar 100. Seems fairly balanced and straight-laced, not much colour exaggerations or saturations, which i sort of like in other films, but still enjoyable.
