  1. I love BOTW so much. I have a coworker who just started playing it, so she's been asking me for tips since I 100%-ed it. In talking to her about it, I've been wanting to replay it... so I just bought the Wii U version just so I'd have a reason to try it all over again. I will do so as soon as I finish with Triangle Strategy, which I am loving. I'm near the end now and might play NG+, but maybe not.
  2. I finished Shin Megami Tensei V on New Year's Day, and ever since, I haven't really latched onto another game to play through consistently. I have been sporadically playing through the recent DLC for Blasphemous, making this my 4th playthrough, and it just seems so much harder than it was before (probably because I'm actually using a penitence this time), so I'm not enjoying it as much. I bought Scarlet Nexus a couple of weeks ago and started it last weekend. It's OK so far, but it feels a little weird and the camera takes some getting used to. I tried to go back to Control to finish the AWE DLC, but I don't remember what i was doing the last time I played it, so I quit. Last weekend, after flailing around trying to find a game I would play to the end, I put in Rockman X, which I haven't played in about 3 or 4 years, and finished that in like 1.5 hours and had a great time. I find it interesting that the games that I've been playing all my life still delight me to no end, but I have such difficulty staying interested in newer games. I started Cuphead again last night and realized that I quit before because I don't actually like it (I LOVE the graphics and music, but the gameplay isn't for me).
  3. I've been sporadically playing Mega Man X Legacy Collection. I've not really been into games this year, but MMX games still make me happy, surprisingly. There's a whole lot that I want to play, though, especially on Switch.... but this is my poorest year yet, so buying them is kind of out.
  4. I love them both, sometimes I don't know which I love more (probably SP). I do agree that the Pumpkins' music is more interesting than Nirvana's but that's just because they tried to do different styles and had more ideas, plus I think the fact that Nirvana's lifespan was so short, we never got to see a lot of experimentation that wasn't strictly rock-based.
  5. I'm still sporadically playing all the games that I started last year. It has been hard for me to really enjoy these things lately. I started playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night again because I've never beaten it... I think I've quit on it again. I might get back to it soon. I also started on Azure Striker Gunvolt for Switch. I didn't finish it on 3DS because I found it very uncomfortable to play, but it's much better with a controller. I've mostly just been working on my own game and playing a few others for inspiration. I've recently started feeling really sad about the fact that I have so many games that I'll never even be able to start playing because I don't have the time, energy, desire, whatever... I still have every game that I've ever owned in my life, and a great deal of those I've never even played. My head tells me to sell them, but my heart says to keep them. What a dilemma :\ But the truth is that I think I'm getting to the point where I'm no longer going to buy games, no matter what they are or what they cost. They're becoming a waste of money for me, and I need all the money I can get. It's a weird revelation to have.
  6. Great movie. I was glad that it turned out to be a faithful adaptation of the manga and much better than the anime.
  7. I have been playing Mega Man 11 on and off for a few weeks now and I'm just now starting to like it. I don't know what it was that repelled me so much -- perhaps it was the annoyingly accurate enemy attackers, the 2 or more minibosses in every stage, or instant death traps at every turn. It feels and plays like a MM game, but these things seem like they just said, "Hey, MM games are supposed to be really hard, so let's make sure we put some frustrating shit in here," As I've said before, I don't think Mega Man games are that hard, aside from 9 and 10, so I don't know where this idea that these are supposed to be rage-inducing games came from. Anyway, the game finally clicked with me recently, especially after I got the upgrade for the Speed Gear that lets you move at normal speed while slowing everything else down (why did it previously slow the player down, too?). This is good because the game actively wants you to play with the Speed Gear (moreso than the Power Gear, which I rarely use), and when you do, the game is much more fun. However, I got to the fucking Yellow Devil boss today, the worst boss in MM history, and it pissed me off so bad that I quit and I am not sure if I'll be playing it again anytime soon. I'm also sporadically playing Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, which is pretty cool, as well as Nier: Automata, but I haven't played it in about a month, so I need to get back to it. I think my aversion to MM11 actually has a lot to do with the fact that I haven't actually felt like putting a lot of effort into games (or anything, for that matter) lately. I'm not up for a challenge right now. Hopefully that will subside in the new year, preferably before Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes comes out.
  8. I quite liked Transistor. It took some getting used to, but once you build up your memory and equip some great abilities, the game becomes very fun and tactical. I was very much into it. I am planning to get Smash eventually, but not on launch day. I bought SSB4 on day 1 and barely did anything with it. I imagine this will be the same for me. I like Smash but I don't LOVE it like a lot of people.
  9. Did any of you get the last one with the Squarepusher bootup?
  10. I'm still playing SMTIV Apocalypse since I never really did anything with it when it first came out. Awesome game. Also playing Nier: Automata, and just got Mega Man 11 and Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise. I will be trying these two out this weekend.
  11. I fucking love Dragon Ball. What a fucking terrible song.
  12. Yeah actually I probably agree with that. ~1:00-1:30 is the most magic part here both musically and visually for me so far Circlont6a is pretty damn good, but nothing on Syro is better than anything on Rushup Edge, except for XMAS EVET10 .... imo Edit: I'm a liar and an idiot. Much of Syro is better than about half of Rushup, but the highs on the Tuss album are higher than the ones on Syro.
  13. Are people really disappointed? I have no reason to be. I do think it's interesting that he has maintained the same sound and style that he's been working with since the Analord days, but that's all great stuff. Really looking forward to this EP.
  14. He generally doesn't do that. AFX usually releases an EP and is just done with it. There are 3 instances of it in the past 3 years -- Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2, Orphaned Deejay Selek, and Cheetah. Either way, I'm excited!
  15. As I stated earlier in the week, I just finished BOTW and loved almost every minute of it. The easily-broken weapon thing did piss me off at first, as it makes it where none of your weapons are "special." You might get something really cool, but once you use it in one battle, it's either going to be greatly damaged or broken. Later on, you get the option to stash a few weapons and shields away, but even that is limited and kinda pointless because, again, your special weapons you're saving for a special occasion will still be broken very easily. There's at least one weapon that breaks simply by you swinging it a few times and hitting nothing at all (and you can only get it from a somewhat difficult enemy and you have to beat him without getting hit in order for him to drop it). However, there's a wide variety of weapons and they're everywhere, so that great sword that you used that broke will probably be picked up again in the next few minutes with better stats and you'll eventually get to the point where you can't even carry them all. This is why I didn't care about the fragility of your gear as I got further in the game. It's really not as bad as it seems. yaeh god it sucks. it is a fun game good gameplay but honestly it's like 99% filler. reminds me very much of mgsv in that way I didn't think it was "filler." One of my favorite things about the game is the fact that the world was so large but there wasn't always something to discover or gawk at everywhere you went. I honestly believe I walked the entire world (on foot, rarely used horses) I thoroughly enjoyed the majority of it. The game doesn't constantly dole out rewards or spectacle like many other games do, so when you finally find something cool, it makes it all the more special. I found it very realistic, to be honest, because that's how the real world actually is. I spent a lot of time climbing mountains just to see if there was something on top or over on the other side of it. Most of the time, all I found was a korok or some ore, but even that was worth it to me. Seriously, I think BOTW was the best game I've played in years. Totally loved it.
  16. As I've stated on here a number of times, I've lived with depression and anxiety forever. Sometimes it's not so bad, sometimes it's nonexistent, and sometimes it's absolutely crippling. Right now, I don't know how I feel. I'm not paralyzed by it, and I'm not in constant pain, but lately I'll just take a breath and be overcome by the feeling of being afraid or worried and aware of a feeling of hopelessness. Currently the thing that I feel every day is, "I'm tired of being overweight, broke, and lonely." I recently eliminated carbs and sweets from my diet and have lost 13 pounds (in a little over a month!), so that's a solution to one of those feelings, but the rest seems so out of my control. I'm pretty aware of these issues and it bothers me, but it's a different feeling of depression or anxiety than I have dealt with in the past. I think I can definitely say that I am scared.
  17. I finally finished Breath of the Wild. Damn, that was a good game. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment, and now I'm thinking about buying the DLC, something that I pretty much never do for any games. However, I also have a ton of other games to play, so I probably won't worry about Zelda's DLC for now. I started on Nier: Automata the other night.... I found it fun and very interesting. Great music in the first area. I thought the camera was weird to control and there was barely any friction in the combat, but I figure it would take some getting used to, especially because of the constant perspective changes. I was having a pretty good time until I got to the first boss who proceeded to take me out with one hit..... and the next thing I knew, I was starting the entire game over again.... No save point in the first area? I will get back to it eventually, but I think I'm done with it for now. I still need to go back and do the post-game stuff in Super Mario Odyssey. I finished the main game pretty quickly and then went back to Zelda, so I might go for it now. Actually, I really think it's time for me to finally play Final Fantasy XV. I will probably start it this weekend. Who else is looking forward to Mega Man 11? I think it looks pretty good so far!
  18. I decided to go back and watch all of Dragon Ball again, and it reminded me how great it really is. I hadn't seen any of it in about 15 years, and I was quite surprised. Most of the 153 episodes completely outmatch Dragon Ball Z. There are some really poignant, emotional moments, all of the training sequences combined with the eastern mysticism make for some very interesting sequences, and the pacing is really good. The animation is actually great, too.
  19. Oh, another one is Juni Taisen. It's a battle royale between 12 warriors that represent the Zodiac. There really isn't a lot of fighting, strangely enough, it's mostly about the people themselves and what things in their lives led them to the battle. I thought it was pretty cool.
  20. I love Berserk, as I've stated on here several times. It's hard to track down if you want to buy it, but it's on Youtube in bad quality rips. Still, it's worth watching. The 3 movies retell the series, so that's an alternative to watching it on Youtube (they're on Netflix). I don't have much of a problem with the look of the new series, unlike most people. It's jarring and looks weird some times, but it really doesn't bother me all that much. I think the next season will probably be mostly 2D, if the last episode was any evidence of what is to come. Plus, the music is still fantastic. For the unaware, this is the quality of the newer version. And while this episode and the two that followed were particularly horrible, this isn't really indicative of the look of the entire new anime. This seemed like a rush job, perhaps done by multiple people using assets from different places. It looks like total shit, which is bad because the content of these episodes was pretty great. At any rate, yeah, I can see why people hate the way Berserk 16/17 is animated, but this gif isn't really very accurate. As far as good anime to watch, check out Inuyashiki: Last Hero. It has a weird premise, but it is executed very well and the animation is fantastic. Also, Kyousougiga is an interesting one. It's absolutely beautiful and the story is cool, too.
  21. I MIGHT get the Dark Souls remaster for Switch, but I got kinda far in the original game on X360 and got to a point where I found it impossible to progress. It was such a struggle to get there that I don't know if I want to go through all of that again. I'm considering trying to continue my 360 game rather than buying this reissue. I got DK Tropical Freeze for free on Wii U and only played the first few areas and quit on it. I don't know what it was, but it just wasn't that appealing to me, which is strange because I loved the original DK Country games and generally like Nintendo's platformers. Maybe I'll try it again on Wii U. I'm still playing Breath of the Wild, which ended up being my favorite game of 2017. I haven't come close to finishing it because I have spent my entire time exploring and not doing the main story quests. I have almost walked the entire world, it seems, so it's probably a good time to go and do the Divine Beast quests. This game is so brilliant, I just can't get enough of it. Other than that, I started playing Street Fighter V, and while I still don't love it, it's better than I originally felt it was. I don't pay for PS Plus, so I can't fight other players, so maybe that's why I am not really into it like I was SFIV, but with the Arcade Edition upgrade coming next week, I might consider starting a subscription. I have a few "new" games that I haven't opened yet: Nier Automata, Nioh, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (Switch), and of course, Final Fantasy XV, the game that's been sitting unopened for over a year now. I'm considering starting them all this weekend. At the end of the month, I will be playing Dragon Ball FighterZ, so that will most likely be my next obsession.
  22. mods, pls pin this post to “watmm” subforum Damn. I'm trying to lose some weight but this makes me want to seek out a similar burger in my area.
  23. Currently playing Super Mario Odyssey! Absolutely brilliant game. I find myself smiling or laughing a lot when playing because it's so full of joy. I love Mario games so much :) After I'm done with Odyssey, I'm going to go back and continue Zelda: Breath of the Wild.... For me, this is probably Game of the Year. I haven't had as much fun with another game this year (Mario might overtake it by the end, as it is very close....). I haven't played the main story so much because I can't get enough of exploring the world. Nintendo really outdid themselves this year. Persona 5 is probably the only game that comes close to either of these two masterpieces, but I haven't actually played a whole lot this year. Meanwhile, my Final Fantasy XV still hasn't even been opened, and I've had it since day 1 last year.
  24. I'm STILL playing Persona 5 after all this time. It says I've racked up 150 hours, but the majority of that is just letting the game sit for hours on end. I started playing Berserk Musou, but stopped and kind of forgot I had it. I finally tried out Mercenary Kings and Furi, both pretty good but on the hard side. I would also like to get to Breath of the Wild, but I probably won't get to it before the end of the year. Gaming-wise, I still want to finish playing SMT IV: Apocalypse and start Final Fantasy XV (which I've had since it came out but haven't even opened), but I doubt I will. Chances are I will finally finish P5 in a couple of months and then Super Mario Odyssey will be out and I'll end up worshiping that one. Of course, I have lots of important "adult" things that I need to do, so I may not play or finish anything :(
