  1. I'm at the end of Disgaea 5. I have been so addicted to this game, just grinding and building up my characters. I was planning to continue to do things in the post-game, but I realized something.... This will be only the second Disgaea game I've beaten, Disgaea 1 being the other. I own all 6 console games and have made it at least halfway through all of them except for 3, which I have never even opened... I think after I beat 5, I'm going to go back and finish all the others. I love this series and always buy the sequels, but it's ridiculous that I haven't finished them. I'm going to play them in reverse order, but 2 is the one I really want to finish first. I'm going to do 2, D2, 4, and 3, simply because I have made the most progress in 2 and probably should have beaten it long ago.

There are only about 4 or 5 games that I'm really planning to pick up this year, unless something amazing is announced, so I am resigning myself to finishing these Disgaea games and then playing whatever else I already own because I really have more than I'll ever be able to beat in my lifetime.

  2. I didn't make a real list, but my top albums were:

    Squarepusher - Damogen Furies

    Holly Herndon - Platform

    Blackalicious - Imani Vol. 1

Cannibal Ox - Blade of the Ronin

Modest Mouse - Strangers to Ourselves

Oneohtrix Point Never - Garden of Delete

  3.

Squee, your Donk level is really challenging yet very fun to play. Been trying to beat it like 20 times now. First time it's happening to me with an "amateur" Mario level. Thank you very much for the fun, gonna try other WATMM levels today :)

Cool! What seems to be the challenging part? The design might be throwing you off :)

By the way, I won't use trampolines anymore for jumps. They're too random.

Thank God. I didn't beat that level because I got to the end and had to use the trampolines to get to the flag. I fell and quit because it pissed me off. I told you I don't like trampolines :)

  4.

    Oh wow! COOL! Congrats, man!!!

Thanks a lot. I put a lot of effort into my stages, and I just want people to play and enjoy them. This is good recognition :)

Definitely! And this should get you PLENTY of stars ;D

    So far I've only gotten 3 :)

  5. His voice is the best instrument Radiohead have ever had.

Absolutely. He has one of the best voices I've ever heard, and not just because it sounds good, but because it morphs and moves and flows with any song he adds it to. It is an instrument, for sure.

I remember hearing this track and it pissed me off because there seems to be an implication that this guy can sing better than Thom, like this is 15 Step done RIGHT. Fuck that.

  6. ooooomg the kill bill stage is so spot on (and funny during the mole showdown). lol.

Thanks for playing it. I made that stage for Destructoid's monthly SMM challenge, which is "Mario at the Movies" this month. Kill Bill is one of my very favorite films and I think the stage does follow that chapter very closely. The only problem that I have with it is that you really don't have to kill anything in order to pass the stage. I wish you could force players to defeat enemies or bosses before they can advance to the next room. Maybe that will come in a future update....

  7.

I've just finished my first level.

I find it a bit frustrating that I can't access everything immediately, but I guess it's a good thing to learn your basic tools before being given access to all them.

Like I said, I just finished my first one. It's far from perfect and it's extremely short since I can't make long levels yet, but hey... it's a level.

I'm about to check out your stage right now. Here's the last "real" stage I made:

    POWer Switch Fortress (0395-0000-0104-4E98)

Let me know what you think of it. The one person who gave me feedback said it was too hard and confusing....

The last stage I made was for a Destructoid challenge, but I don't find it to be very fun.

I played your stage and it was cool. It was well-designed and the only thing I hated was the trampolines at the end, simply because I hate trampolines.

Fun stuff! I look forward to playing more.

  9. I picked up Xenoblade Chronicles X the other day but only played it for about 3 hours. I tried last night after work and fell asleep.... I am not sure I'll be getting into this game. I don't really like/understand the battle system so far.

I've spent the vast majority of my time playing Disgaea 5. I've already put 98 hours into it (according to the game clock, but I know some of that time is from just letting the game sit). My favorite thing about Disgaea is the Item World, so I have just been leveling up my weapons and armor, and in turn, my party. I'm in Chapter 10 now, so I'd say the game is almost over.

I'm sporadically going back to Super Mario Maker. I haven't had a lot of ideas recently, but the two newest stages I've made aren't really being played. I think the playership has dropped off and new stages aren't being noticed anymore. Not surprising, but disappointing considering the massive amount of plays I was getting during the first month or so.

Feel free to play my latest stages:

    POWer Switch Fortress (0395-0000-0104-4E98)
Devil Pyramid 2: Mario Boogaloo (030E-0000-00D7-3FF7)

One note about SMM, is it me or do most players not really know how to play Mario games? I'm thinking I play differently than most people, because in looking at the stage maps and the places where players die, I'm rather confused as to how these deaths could happen. Do most people just run right through these stages as fast as they can without looking at their surroundings? No matter what roadblocks or mechanics or gimmicks I put in my stages, it looks like most players overlook them entirely and die because of it. POWer Switch Fortress has a mushroom at the beginning of the stage, and a few steps away is a path blocked by muncher plants that you can't pass. That's where I introduce the mechanic you will use for the entire stage - using POW blocks to clear a path. Most deaths are happening right there at the beginning, as if they're trying to run past these plants and can't figure it out, either not getting the mushroom or getting the mushroom and losing it and then dying because they're trying their hardest to pass an obviously impossible path. The solution is obvious and I even give you two hints as to what to do.........

    Sorry about the long post.

  10. I haven't heard everything that I want to hear yet, so I'm not quite ready to make this list, but here's part of it. I'm PRETTY SURE #1 is:

    1. Squarepusher - Damogen Furies

    Holly Herndon - Platform

    Blackalicious - Imani Vol. 1

Modest Mouse - Strangers to Ourselves

BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah - Sour Soul

    Jlin - Dark Energy

Cannibal Ox - Blade of the Ronin

    Bjork - Vulnicura

AFX - Orphaned Deejay Selek 2006-08
    Aphex Twin - MARCHROMT30a Edit 2b 96
    Clark - Flame Rave

Dragon Quest VII and VIII remakes confirmed for western release.

    :catrage:

been playing Dragon Quest VIII just recently but on PS2.

it's a great game but slowing down cos Fallout 4 came out. Would love to have it on 3DS but i've already sunk in way too many hours to start again now.

    DQ8 is awesome.

    :catrage:

I never finished DQVIII. I got pretty far, I think, and then I started a new job and had to move and never got back to it. I regret that, because if I went back and tried to continue the game, I'd have no idea what was going on or what I need to do. RPGs are so hard to get back into after time passes.

  12. The DDS ones are easier than other SMT games, but the story is really well written, and the music etc... I don't know, they're up there with my favorite games of all time.

Anything with the SMT tag on it, I buy (for example Devil Summoner series, DDS, Nocturne, etc).

I find it pretty funny that some of them have a disclaimer from Sony stating they don't represent the content lol. Like it's demonic or something? =/

The only SMT-related game that I don't have that was officially released here is Persona 1. Well, I don't have the PSP or Vita games because I don't own either of those handhelds, and I didn't buy the 3DS remakes of Devli Survivor 1 and 2 because I have the original DS versions. I can't get enough of these games, though.

The Sony disclaimer was necessary because they didn't want parents seeing these games and saying that Sony was advocating "demon worship" or something. I'm glad they don't do that anymore. The demons in these games aren't really even demons most of the time, just beings based on mythology.
