About 20 hrs into Shin Megami Tensei IV. Realllllly enjoying it, quite challenging at times. Happy to play an old school style JRPG, lots of grinding, fun negotiating with demons (way harder to negotiate in this one compared to previous games?!).

Can't wait for Persona 5 next year, super stoked.

I didn't find negotiation to be very hard, at least compared to SMTIII. That game made it very hard to recruit demons.

I second your excitement for Persona 5. Kind of disappointed that it didn't come out this year like they originally said.

Yeah I'm disappointed too, but confident that's because the developing team is making sure it's an ace release!

I'm finding negotiation REALLY hard compared to past SMT games. Sometimes you have to answer 10+ questions or whatever to get a demon. Perhaps I'm missing a strategy for negotiating or something?

I kind of wish they'd make a follow up to the Digital Devil Saga games though...

Glad to see there's another SMT fan here =)

I'm not sure if there is a strategy, really. I don't recall having to answer a lot of questions. I gave up a lot of items and money, and that's about it. Got a lot through surrender as well.

I have the two DDS games but have never played the second one at all. I never got far in DDS1, so of course there was no point in starting the next game. One day....

I honestly don't know a lot of SMT fans. Most people I know who have played them either hate them or just think they're too hard. I personally think it's the best RPG series around.

lookin' to pick up ffx collection for ps4 now that i hear they patched the fucked up rng and music for it. should be able to get it for <or=$20 for black friday

Of course the cum splatter was intentional. And that "Banana Split" outfit is fucking ridiculous. I refuse to use that DLC.

  4. Yay for checkpoints in Super Mario Maker! I was waiting for the update before I uploaded any new stages. Put one up this morning:

Devil Pyramid 2: Mario Boogaloo (030E-0000-00D7-3FF7)

While waiting for the checkpoint update, I've been letting SMM rest and am playing Disgaea 5, which is fun, if not exactly what Disgaea has been about since 2003.

Also..... I picked up Onechanbara Z2 the other day because it was cheap, and really, it's not bad. Kinda fun. The combat is fast and fluid, a big change from the X360 Onechanbara. I could do without the blood splatter... I changed the color to white and it looks like cum all over the screen. Not pleasant.

  5. have any of u guys played soul hackers?

^^^^ thats one of the most lush vg screenshots ive ever seen. look at that shit man

thats one of my favorite games in the world but i have never been able to actually get into it. its tragic. its got one of those battle systems thats just so convoluted and weird. i just watch other people play it on youtube and on twitch. its the most vaporwave/cyberpunk/90's/japan shit ive ever seen

I have the 3DS version and played it for about 15 minutes. I couldn't get into it simply because I'd just finished with SMTIV and was all SMT'ed out. I will give it another shot eventually.

Also, I saw you in Atlanta this month. Great job. You really killed it.

  6. A few hours into Shin Megami Tensie IV. Damn this game is hard at the beginning. I've died like 20 times in the first few hours.

The Naraku dungeon is really hard when you don't really have any demons. Have you made it to the boss yet? I got obliterated by him the first time I fought him. I think there are two really hard bosses there, but you pass it, you'll notice the difficulty drop a bit, mostly because you gain access to some good demons and can fuse for the first time.

finally got mario maker. someone give me some codes (plz

    yay!

    Little House of Savages (89DD-0000-0032-113B)

    Devil's Pyramid (343A-0000-0029-61C7)

    snaaaaaaaaap!

    i will check these later

spiny king palace was one of your beest and koopa apartments was my favorite of yours, some intense bits involving the bombs that you made

Thanks for playing them. Spiny King Palace took me over a week to make, which is way too long. But I am very proud of it. Same goes with the Apartment stage. I'm very proud of it and the boss battle, but it really isn't being played much. The people who play it don't finish it most of the time :(

  8. Seems I remember beating most of the main stages fairly easily in both 9 and 10 but needing to have a full stock of e canisters to beat wilys stages in both. Only best them each once

I can say that I needed all tanks to beat MM9, but Wily is easy in 10, so I don't have that problem.... But the game as a whole is pretty damn hard.

  9.

Finished Megaman Legacy Collection (not the challenges, fuck that) - now gonna build a Raspberry Pi RetroPie console and start going through 7-8. Might fire up the PS3 and try and tackle 9 and 10 (9 is sooo damn hard). Something is driving me to do this.

9 is hard but I had gotten to the point where I could beat the whole game in 2 hours without dying. I can't do that now, considering that I haven't played it in a few years. 10 is much harder than 9, in my opinion.

What would you say about 10 that's harder? That antigrav section in the Wily Castle in 9... FUCK THAT.

There's not one stage or section that is as hard as that antigrav part (which I had completely forgotten about), but the overall enemy behaviors and difficulty of some of the bosses are harder than they are in 9. The Suzaku birds in Solar Man's stage, all of Strike Man's stage.... they're quite difficult compared to 9. The hardest thing I can remember in 9 is the Devil boss, perhaps the boss of the antigrav stage. That's horrible.

hey tell me how it is, I just started Chibi-Robo Ziplash

Usually the SMT games are rather long, I think Nocturne took me around 80hrs. But I should have a good idea if it's going to be enjoyable over the next few days. I really like the SMT releases, like the Persona series, Digital Devil Saga, Devil summoner, etc.

I loved SMTIV. It was very fun and interesting. It took me 160 hours to finish it, though, most likely because I spent too much time grinding.

really wish i'd have kept my bag on me w/my cd and marker to get signed but o well

I neglected to ask about a meetup... Strangely enough, I saw you guys over there and almost went over, but I didn't want to interrupt your intimate conversation. Didn't know it was you. I did get to shake hands with ae, so that's cool. Didn't even realize Richard Devine was there since I was so starstruck.......

  14.

I just got back from Autechre in Atlanta. Amazing show. Everyone was on point. I met Rob and shook his hand. I ran into Bradford Cox from Deerhunter. He said Gantz Graf was his favorite ae release and cap.iv is his favorite track. Tonight was a good night.

I kind of wanted to stick around and meet Sean and Rob, just to get some info on how they do their Max stuff, but it was way too late for me. I just needed to get the hell back home to my bed. I even forgot to check the merch table on the way out, so someone please let me know if there was anything nice in there.

I should've guessed that Mr. Cox would have the most predictable taste in ae.

Oh yeah, Moses Archuleta was with Bradford. He's into Confield.

Just the two t-shirts and 2 cds: Gantz Graf and Quaristice. Kinda disappointing.

    No photography, recording, or video.

As mentioned in a previous post:

Autechre merch: Two shirts, one grey with black print, one black with grey print (the black one has things on both sides, grey one does not); BasscadEP, Untilted, EP Box set, Quaristice (CDs only). Here are links to the pictures of the shirt (front back), they're American Apparel shirts.

Cygnus: His 7" Extra Terrestrials and his LP Tesseracter.

    How much are the shirts?

  18. There were 2 bits I found a bit frustrating. The bomb at the start killing you if you walked right immediately and there was a bit with 3 walls you had to break in a row with bombs from one pipe. Once they blew up the block with the spring on so if I fell I was stuck. The rest was pretty straight forward. I remember the final bit being fun. You put a note that basically says what to do anyway, so if they die its their own fault!

I hope they patch in checkpoints though. People are impatient and I find myself having to cut back on more challenging stuff I'd like to do because because you have to travel all the way back to it again.

I never foresaw that first pipe being a problem, probably because I made the stage, but also because people apparently play differently than I do. Rather than immediately running forward, I expect people to wait a second or so before running because of what could be immediate death. The timing of the pipe generators is completely random. I hate that it's not the same all the time.

As far as the area that you got stuck in, I tested that area countless times so people WOULDN'T get stuck.... I put the spring, the vine, and a super leaf there to help out, but I never had the block with the vine in it blow up :( Plus, there's a bomb and a leaf before you get to that part, and I was hoping that players would ignore the bomb generator altogether and use their tails to break the walls going forward. So many different scenarios went through my head, but still one problem remains that I didn't see happening....

    Thanks for your feedback!

  19. I spent way too long making my latest level on Mario Maker. Still having fun with it.

I like the idea in your latest level flim, good stuff. Took me a while to beat it.

Thanks for playing. What did you think of the difficulty of the "boss?" I didn't want people to get there and die quickly before figuring out what to do and then quit because they had to start the whole long stage over again.

Your stage was nice and clever. Love the title! The Bowser Jr. x 2 was kind of frustrating, but overall, a very good stage.
