Hi there, Thought it was a good idea to post here, as it's not a simple 'deck to deck' mix. I tried to bring something more special, dynamic, halfway from a 'synchronised audio collage' and a dj set. And I honestly think it will fit the interest of the Ae fans out there. Tracklist (or you'd try to guess all track appearances first ?) : http://pastebin.com/4S81DK4p Thanks, J

Like the title says, choose your favorite of the new Autechre soundboards! Probably a little too early to decide, definitively, so I imagine a lot of people's choices will change in the coming weeks.

alright, of all the amazing tracks that form elseq into what has already become one of my favourite ae-"major records" this is the one i keep obsessing about most constantly so far. so i hereby declare this to be its tribute thread. combining technically impressive macro-/microstructuring and execution with a gripping emotional immediacy this is ae coming full circle, eclectic yet unheard of. characteristic gearing up shenanigans, awakening of colossus, breaking fourth wall via paraphrasation of classic rave riff escalating til collapse unto itself taking track/beast along -> reconfiguration, finally:motion. from around 2 min inteferences gradually complicate the beat work til it's resembling spazz hop of draft fame (2nd half surripere anyone?), then finally 3:30 things settle down into ... *drum roll* TEH TUNE! well, what is it about THE TUNE exactly? i can't really put it into words. is it the meditative presentation of various states of decay - ebbing and flowing, the sparse but all the more felicitous tone, the brittle yet epic figure, its somewhat cheerless/greyish but steadfast temper, the deeply personal/intimate yet all-encompassing/vast athmosphere? or just the god damn catchiness? whatever the je ne sais quoi of THE TUNE, it is MINE! this shit is shaking me on a/the level like crazy deep i dun even know. it's got a retro-futuristic vibe fo sho (fucking ANCIENT even) but without the usual snugly bathetic connotations... just perfect. wuv <3 your turn.

File Name: "Gescom DJs - Warp Radio 2001.mp3" File Submitter: madisonthorne File Submitted: 05 Aug 2016 File Category: Autechre Rip of Gescom DJs on Warp Radio, circa 2001. This was streamripped and then burnt to a CDr. After about 15 years and the loss of the original digital file, I found the CDr and cleaned it and ripped it to a single mp3. This originally came from http://warp-net.com in its puzzle incarnation, specifically the radio page which had mouseover pieces which would slide out. You could click and stream. Artists included Gescom, Broadcast, Plaid, Mira Calix and others. It has long since vanished. Click here to download this file

Along with several other sets from Broadcast, Mira Calix etc. , I ripped this Gescom set from the Warp Website in 2001. It was when they were using the puzzle incarnation of the site, and had a radio page where several pieces would jut out on mouseover and you could play sets. I tried reviving the Mira Calix from a CD I have, but I couldn't get any decent quality...too damaged. The Broadcast is lost although I have the tracklist. I found this one tonight and after several cleanings and different drives, I got a good rip of it. It's not perfect though, there are moments where it stutters or repeats itself very briefly. Overall it's really acceptable though considering it's been stored on a CDR for 15 years without much care. It was 18 tracks split on the CD via indexes so I joined it all into one file removing any gaps and tagged it. Link below. It's alot of hip hop and IDM etc. Hopefully i'm not doubling any efforts here if this has already been available. I was twiddling around yesterday and recorded a little "see on see" remake. Thought you guys might like it :) [sc5][/sc5] I would be interested in hearing any remixes/ remakes you guys did. I've heard lots of Aphex Twin remixes and they always give me a fresh outlook on the original track, but i haven't found anything for AE.

I went to buy an album and took a look at the customer responses...this was one of them: "Autechre has become something more to me than just an alternative to listening to music. Listening to Autechre, especially alone, has become an addictive way of life for me. It has changed me over the years. When I'm working the mail at my post office in the evenings, I like to work it while I'm listening to Autechre. The sounds of Autechre (in all its varying effects) truly compells me to just keep throwing that mail. It motivates me to work very fast as well as keeping my memory sharp (correctly throwing the right letters to the right carriers cubby-holes), and I can go on for hours without even acknowledging the time. Since Autechre has become a part of my life, I have become healthier, more physically toned, keener with my wits, and even more long-term physically sexual. Yes, I have increased and enhanced my sexual longevity performance as a result of improved health by my addiction to listening to Autechre over the years. What I have done to make this electronic music sound drug more potent is that I have put all my Autechre CD's on a CDR burned by a program called Sonic Stage. It comes with Sony CD players that play the ATRAC3plus CDR's that you make through the computer. You can put more than 30 hours of music on a single CDR. So, having about 15 hours of Autechre playing in a continuous shuffle for hours on end while I'm at work has caused me to work a projected 3 and a half hours worth of work in just under 2 hours. I actually quite disappointed when I run out of work to do because I am still on an Autechre high. Sometimes, I've even clocked out but went right back to work because I can't seem to get myself to break away from the euphoria. So, in a nutshell, the music of Autechre turned me into a healthier, better physical shape, faster mental processor, higher self-esteemed, workaholic. And yet, this music drives my boss crazy. My fellow workers don't seem to mind it, because they all benefit from my work performance as a result of this audio drug. If anyone else has experienced this same kind of Autechre euphoria, please write me at I'd like to hear other stories of how Autechre has affected their lives." http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000089HD...6355169-1847009 I'm suddenly overcome with visions of a Huxley-esqe industrial future where Autechre is blasted over a sea of factories.

This thread is about memories. About music that made you, influenced you, kicked your arse, kept you alive and floating. Post your mix (past, present, future) of your all-time favorites. I start with my Ingredients 3 - Passive Aggressive mix, back from 2008 or so feat. (of course) Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, Luke Vibert, FSOL, Luke Vibert, Funkstörung, Goldie and a few more. Enjoy my flashbacks. And I am looking forward to yours. https://www.mixcloud.com/BertoltBrechtakt/ingredients-3-passive-aggressive/

EP Released 25th Feb Let's face it. February's a bit rubbish - and let me stop you before you try to convince me that Valentine's day is a shining light in an otherwise dark and miserable month. But one thing can save us and that's Touched Music's love for us all. Slapping us in the face with the musical equivalent of a dozen red roses is the latest release from exm - "Overscore". It's hard to put a finger on exm's style and that's just how I like it - this EP refuses to sit in any stylistic pigeonhole and draws from a lot of technical skills and influences. I've said it before about the similarities to Autechre and that's still present but there's so much more going on here. The first track alone is a journey in itself - starting with sound reminiscent of Hans Zimmer's depiciton of vast, open, astronomical nothingness but better it gives way to a rhythmic party that can only be described as a sentient electronic hurdy-gurdy with poor intentions against humankind. Finishing with a digital call to prayer this is just the opening of a fantastic six-track EP. Sudden key changes, great timbral layering and pleasing dissonance are the icing on the proverbial cake. This work manages to relax and unnerve at the same time and doesn't tire for one second. As a bonus we're treated to a remix that's so well done it's neither so similar to its parent nor a complete departure - back-to-back they sound like they could have been composed together as separate acts. Do the right thing, winter's nearly over so why not let this latest festival of noise into your life and help Macmillan Cancer Support along the way? Wise words from Alexander Shum

Autechre Classic Electronic / Synthesizer Music lovers
awepittance posted a topic in Music Discussion
Based on soundwave's suggestion i thought it would be nice to have a goto thread on watmm for all older synth music. Would be good if we could stick to pre ebm/synthpop/rave (as much as i like early depeche mode, wouldnt be appropriate in the thread) based stuff mostly predating 1983 otherwise its gets too open ended so i'll start by listening some of my favorite artists and an album i recommend for each one. Giorgio Moroder - Einzelganger 1975 an album giorgio made trying to pass himself off as a german electronic krautrock act. his most playful experimental electronic album similarities to Radioactivity era kraftwerk. Jerry Goldsmith - Logan's Run OST 1976 Logan's run is one of the only 100% synth scores he's done. For that alone it's worth getting. He kept using synths on almost all of his movie scores in the 1980s i he was doing stuff like this in the late 50s - http://www.discretesynthesizers.com/nova/mp3/vbs2.mp3 combining synthesizers with real orchestra. pretty impressive considering the Doctor Who theme didn't come out until a couple years later than this Voyage of the Bottom of the Sea episode music Morton Subotnick - A Sky Of Cloudless Sulphur / After The Butterfly 1980 'A Sky of Cloudless' is similar to his earlier works one of the more unique synthesizer composers to come out of the 60s. His album Silver Apples of the Moon is where the psychedelic synth based rock band Silver Apples took its name. Autechre seems to be inspired greatly by his first 2 lps. Cluster - Zuckerzeit 1974 my favorite album of theirs mostly because of the awesome opening track 'Hollywood' One of the guy's in cluster has done a lot of awesome collaborations too, namely Mobieus & Plank Vangelis - Heaven and Hell 1975 He probably has better ablums as a whole but the opening track to this album has one of the catchiest synth hooks ive ever heard Goblin - Zombi OST 1978 everybody here has probably already heard this, but basically the song La Caccia is my favorite song of all time. other greats include Profondo Rosso, Patrick, Suspira Asmus Tietchens - Litia 1983 Zeebruge from this LP is an excellent track the album Biotop is also very similar. Unfortunately most of his later stuff is not beat oriented like this. ill leave the Tangerine Dream love to others, i know there is plenty of it here. and one more for good measure, an album that is by an artist i normally don't like which happens to be very good. Synergy - Audion
