  1. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Classic UK-Detroit IDM/techno. Highly recommended, RIYL B12, Black Dog, Stasis, Nuron.
  2. Cyteen

    Exm

So I did a search, and I didnt see any sort of main topic for exm or his music-- just those related to a release if he had one coming up-- so I figured id make an umbrella one for discussion on our favs of his discography, if that's alright. (btw: Riyl autechre, phoenecia, with some melodic work thrown in.) First off, Im a huge fan of the guys work, and so many of his releases have become top favorites of mine: Modulus, Overscore (+), more recently Comp, released this month (which is perfect for anyone new to his work imo), both this years self released works MMLXXVII and Odd Times are amazing as well and are definite growers, especially the prior LP. His collab releases with Mitoma are all top tier, and I constantly return to them: FF0000, I/0 Disc, and this year's E|M. Highly recommended. But my favorite of his is 2015's llmnt on Touched, which has become one of my favorite IDM albums ever. Didnt dig it much at first, but it grew on me soooooo hard, and I cant stop spinning it. Worth throwing in there-- he also made my favorite IDM song ever "Meltt", which is the epic, 15-minute closer on 2017's Modulus. If you havent heard that, definitely give it a few spins. Gorgeous song! https://touched.bandcamp.com/track/meltt Enough gushing from me though, any other big fans? Favorite albums or tracks?
  3. the anisotroph sequence of singles begins with two tracks; IDM-style uptempo tracks with hints of modern electro, dark ambient, and glitch. [bandcamp]2487596580[/bandcamp] available at https://tsrono.bandcamp.com/album/anisotroph
  4. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Yet another massive charity compilation from Touched w/ 808 State, FSOL, Pentagrams of Discordia, Keiss, Murya, Inkipak, Scanone, and more. Highly recommended.
  5. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Fourth in the PSEA Genome series, various experimental-leaning glitchy, scratchy, melodic electronics. Highly recommended. Purchase includes a sample kit of over 1000 sounds.
  6. CD and cassette formats alongside digital, this is the Likemind release with some extras. Highly recommended - albeit very pricey, 30 GBP (+ additinal costs) for a CD or cassette is really a lot. But it's Nuron.
  7. Hey all. Haven't posted in here in a long time. Last year I released this project, playgrounds, a cllection of material from previous compilations & live shows: https://greystar.bandcamp.com/album/playgrounds Out on limited edition cassette! Apologies to anyone not from the US who orders, shipping rates are really high... if anyone has advice to get shipping costs lower, I'm all ears. Lately I've been in the process of retro-actively taking my music more seriously... I think I undervalue my work, as many musicians tend to do. These tracks were spread about between compilations on Color Squad records, X4 Records, Glorp Records, Reactionary, Xephem Records ... over the years, these tracks had a small spotlight before being mostly forgotten about. I'm still proud of my work! So I compiled it all together. And now here I am, several months after the initial release of this collection, telling folks about it again! Why? Because I've never shared them here before, I think yall might like em, and I think I've got to get better at telling people about the thing I care about most -- making music. Also up on my youtube channel (made the 1920x1080 image just for it). If you want to keep up with my work, stay tuned on my youtube channel - I'd like to archive more old material & begin making more visualizers / music videos for my future work. It's fun to experiment in the visual medium and bring new meaning & attention to my work by including a visual element. Ok! thanks for reading! have a good one - Greystar
  8. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Highly recommended.
  9. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Mystic & Quantum continues their WOAAW series with an album of ambient and chilled out electronics from DMX Krew. Highly recommended.
  10. I'll post music here for my tsrono releases. In most or all cases this will be finished products, except for mastering, and so I'm not looking for help with direction of the songs or things like that, but I'll be welcoming any general comments you have. I'm particularly interested in feedback on production quality and suggestions based on that. Thanks for listening if you do! So here's some stuff from a new ep: You can download the entire reins ep over at bandcamp: http://tsrono.bandcamp.com I've also put up the ep over on last.fm: http://www.last.fm/music/tsrono
  11. Hello, I am new here and whilst introducing myself thought I could share my monthly radio show with everyone. Been hosting for almost 3-4 years now. Previously on Balamii and now based on RTM.fm. Experimental electronic with a particular leaning towards IDM, Braindance, Glitch, Leftfield Bass'n'Breaks and Ambient too... Each 2-hour show is split, usually half of it with me sharing new discoveries - the rest of the time is guest mixes and/or live performance sets. Previous guests include artists from the likes of Planet Mu, SKAM, Warp, Schematic, Analogical Force, Toytronic and many more independents. Here is a Souncloud playlist of all my RTM.fm shows to date, as well as my older Balamii shows: Also available on Mixcloud: https://www.mixcloud.com/chromasy/
  12. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various I was under the impression that Lee Norris' Neo Ouija was about to go defunct, but doesn't seem to have, as they've released a new, massive Cottage Industries compilation on limited edition 3xCD, lathe-cut 2x10", and in digital. The Cottage Industries compilations are among the best IDM compilations ever, if not THE best. Extremely highly recommended.
  13. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Percussive-oriented glitchy IDM. Recommended.
  14. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various A new EP from my fellow Finn Riku Annala aka Recue. Nasty bass-and-acid half-tempo paired with electro-techno-break workouts. Highly recommended.
  15. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Satellite Era's first album release, beautifully melodic glitchy IDM in a classic form. Highly recommended.
  16. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Melodic breaks, hints of acid and electro. Recommended.
  17. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Wonderfully glitchy IDM four-tracker V/A in Satellite Era's Distant Arrays series. Ton Mise, Hexalyne, Naudible, and AZ-Rotator in effect. Highly recommended.
  18. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Freshly remastered and repressed reissue via Lapsus. Highly recommended.
  19. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various The final Exalt release, a compilation of tracks from Zodiac Childs & 1210, Darren Nye, WRNR, Posthuman, Russ Gabriel, Paul Hierophant, SCN1, Morphology, John Shima, _Nyquist, Scape One, GRIT, The Hidden Figure, Steve Rutter, Bachel, Transparent Sound, Ever Vivid, and Shadow Acid. Highly recommended.
  20. We Are The Music Makers | Volume One by Various Beautiful compilation of emotive electronics from PlanktonWarrior, Fragmented Soul, Spin Fidelity, iNFO, and more. Highly recommended.
  21. Unfortunately this is an expensive vinyl-only release, on Sound Synthesis' Wave Function; Gimmik's track remixed by MOY, Naqara, Sound Synthesis, and Gimmik themselves. Recommended with vinyl-only prejudice. Igloo released an article about the release, but withdrew it - I got a text copy before that, see below. Now the article is back.
  22. LA Synthesis is on Bandcamp. This was released in March, but there's nothing else (as of yet). Hopefully they get the material that's on Beatport to Bandcamp. If you've never heard this before, you need to: It's from 1994, remastered and re-released on @Detuned in 2015 with a handful of amazing-as-heck remixes from Plaid, Ian O'Brien, Terrace, ADJ and Carl Finlow; the original track is simply eternal, it doesn't get old - I've been caning it for 25+ years. You should also check out their 1996 album, Matrix Surfer on Shield Records (a great label, too, check out everything - especially Mauler's [Fabrice Lig] PGM 100).
  23. No idea where to put this on the forum. But it should be heard and viewed by anyone with a passing interest in modern electronics / techno. A 7- hour recording from Paradiso Amsterdam 21/10/2023, featuring Surgeon, Blawan, JakoJako, Speedy J and Pariah, all performing in a very impressive and seamless live jam. Awesome visuals too. The first hour alone is full of some jaw dropping awesomeness. Also: no phones policy! Everyone be dancing. Lovely to see.
  24. The 6th compilation in Icelandic Móatún 7's Heiladans (Braindance in Icelandic) series, PWYW for a couple of days (as are all Móatún 7 releases when they come out, wink wink nudge nudge). Highly recommended, check out the whole series.
