So I've been an Aphex fan for a long time. See my profile, I've been on this forum since 2005. Longer than that really, its just that in 2005 everything got deleted and everyone had to sign up again. T69 Collapse has me thinking about something thats always been a recurring thought with Aphex. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqayDnQ2wmw So T69 Collapse has three obvious different parts: Part 1: 00:00 to 01:54 - lush Part 2: 01:54 to 03:18 - discordant, noisy, difficult Part 3: 03:18 to 05:18 - lush So my question is: Is the middle bit really necessary? If it wasn't there, would the trac

Follow up to 2015's A Year with 13 Moons and In Summer last year, both of which were gorgeous. From the singles I've heard of it so far seems in the same vein - still rooted in ambient and drone but with a lot of unabashed arpeggio guitar and other melodic elements. Bandcamp. Mexican Summer page.

reminds me a lot of early idm mixed with the dreamy melodies of Blader Runner . https://bleep.com/release/77193-neutek-fractality and my fav track https://electronictapes.bandcamp.com/track/33p800 also Recorded on vintage analog gear and mastered to VHS, this release oozes warmth and nostalgia.

Hello watmm, I have purchased this album knowing very little about it. NEVERTHELESS Seems quite good. Hyperdub rarely disappoints. Also it has some great, intricate, well-reproduced artwork. Only half a listen so far, but it might be worth your interest

http://monomorph.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/fmdarcangelo?fref=nf Brandnew EP from the D'Arcangelo brothers - a teaser for an upcoming album called "Magenta". First 200 downloads are free. --- Sounds really amazing so far (especially the second track). I must confess I've never heard the older stuff of this alias, I should really check it out asap...

I'm willing to argue that Aleksi Perala's music is more lush than the Aphex Twin's. Whenever I listen to something he makes I am always extremely satisfied by the sound quality/mixing. Everything sounds perfect to me. This is not the case with the Aphex Twin. His music ranges from shit mixing to immaculate. He uses outstanding composition as the backbone for his music. Aleksi's music can be rather minimal and even go nowhere, but it satisfies in that it has sonic depth and quality. Technically I don't know how he achieves this, but it is very noticeable for me. Discuss?

This guy seems to do some pretty gnarly drawings - similar to those which I would probably spend hours doing/concentrating on as a kid - to go along with his descriptive pieces about certain artists: Autechre Zomby Kraftwerk Have a nose around on his tumblr, plenty more artists are lovingly rendered (apologies if jazz)

Summers wrapping up (in this hemisphere anyway) up and I've been meaning to start this thread. In the last few years I've found I have a real sweet spot for very organic and lush sounding exotica and lounge music from the 50s and 60s (Les Baxter, Arthur Lyman, Martin Denny, and many others) and more specifically music that samples it. It's easy for me to hear but it's a bit tricky to pin it down to a certain label or movement, it's a bit hit-or-miss in terms of quality. These are currently active artists nailing the sound: http://youtu.be/yZAqL-lgg38 http://youtu.be/DZz

I released this album over a year ago, but up until now I was just selling it at my band's shows. Here it is finally for the internet to consume: http://solipsisband.bandcamp.com/album/twilight-horizon When I recorded it I didn't have a band, so it's just me tackling all the instruments with the exception of drums on a few songs, played by my friend Jud MacKay. I'm a bit apprehensive about promoting it at this point simply because it's not the album I would make now, but for what it is I think it's pretty solid. I still really like a few of the songs/recordings, particularly Twiligh
