  2. Nobody is talking about this, it wasn't mentioned or announced anywhere and this track debuted in his warp30 mix. This remixnisnfucking amazing seriously!
  3. New remix for Maru. It's lush.
  4. Has he left Warp? His latest single and TV score have been self released even though the last Panthers, an album in the same style, was on warp. In this interview here: https://truantsblog.com/2019/truancy-volume-247-clark/ it says: "Following an expansive discography of LPs on Warp from 2001 to 2017" Does that mean he doesn't release on the label anymore? I hope not but I'd still follow him of course. An argument against it would be that he is still listed in the active artists section on warp.net PS. Lol to this text color.
  5. let me take you back for a moment: https://web.archive.org/web/20070105192457/http://www.warprecords.com/ i remember seeing warprecords.com in its old glory for the first time back in the early 2000s on my friend's computer screen. it was really a piece of art at the time i thought. how creative and colorful, with the _amazing_ logo animation and inventive layout system. looking at it now, i still think the same. think about all the nice websites that are forgotten every time somebody needs to "modernize". really glad archive.org exists and of course, the creators, the designers republic (still rolling with flash-based websites) http://www.thedesignersrepublic.com http://www.pho-ku.com/ do you miss the old?

  9. B12 - Time Tourist (2xLP Expanded Edition) https://bleep.com/b12-time-tourist?utm_source=Bleep&utm_campaign=29085223e1-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_10_10_12_52&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_db8ca97389-29085223e1-569566 - Gold vinyl - 8pp booklet - A5 sticker sheet - DL card includes 4 previously unreleased bonus tracks Bonus Level 12" (Bleep Exclusive) - Bleep Exclusive - Hand-stamped white label 1 Scriptures (Lost Mix) 2:43 2 Silicon Garden (Likemind Mix) 6:43 3 DB5 (Original mix) 2:43 4 Infinite Lites (Original Mix) 6:47 ------------------------------------------------------------- Warp travel back to the lost futures of 1996 with this first-ever reissue of Time Tourist, the second album from the pioneering ambient techno producers B12. Housed in an evocative Designer’s Republic sleeve based on a classic Trevor Webb airbrush painting, the sleevenotes of Time Tourist elude to the project as soundtracking a dystopian future society that’s looking back at the primitive past, evident from its strong references to Blade Runner, Philip K. Dick and Star Wars. Each track on Time Tourist continues the outer edge excavations that made B12’s debut album, the Detroit inspired science fiction of Electro Soma (album 4 in Warp's Artificial Intelligence series) such a mind-warping experience, yet the concepts here are arguably stronger, with the album originally designed as an educational soundtrack designed by the 22nd-century company “B12 Systems” Upon its original release, Time Tourist looked further out than most of B12’s AI peers to the outer space narratives that played such important role within the origins of techno that were built within the late 80's and early 90's landscape of Detroit. As such, they reached levels of science fiction escapism few others have rarely surpassed. Having dug through their archive, B12 also offer us a glimpse of a new route through the alternative reality once travelled by the Time Tourist. The epic skyline of 'Scriptures' and 'Infinite Lines' get transported to new planets with these fascinating FX-laden dub versions, while the Likemind mix of 'Silicon Garden' steps further down the path towards Jazzy liquid techno. Before the soundtrack elements of 'DB5' are pulled to the surface with all the underground insanity of an Andrzej Korzynski soundtrack. As a cultural document, Time Tourist is an evocative reminder of a time when electronic music really did hold the keys to the future. Yet with this newly reissued edition, we'd say there has never been a better time to take a tour of B12’s truly, timeless techno. Consider the Time Tour complete.

  11. Artist : Ariadne’s Labyrinth Title: Twists & Turns Label: Touched Music Cat no: TM66 Format: CD/Digital Country: U.K. Artwork: The Designers Republic Style: IDM/Electronica Release Date Oct 27th 2017 This is what nicely sums up the Touched label. After the surprise release of one of the biggest names in recent electronic music history, Autechre, it's equally humbling to be able to offer up talented, up and coming artists. It makes us realise that there are those out there just as impressive as the established masters. There's a place for everyone here and we welcome them with open arms. "Twists And Turns" is simply stunning. After an initial EP release earlier this year on Detroit Underground with 'Lost And Founded' and a contribution to Touched Music's summer mix that reappears here, 'Ariadne's Labyrinth' delivers a complex and intricate work that screams effort and talent. It opens boldly and doesn't screw around. Leads are in your face, breaks and rhythms delicately layered and nearly all of the tracks build up beautifully into crescendos that are deconstructed with equal majesty. With an almost leftfield feeling at times, I'm often reminded of 'Spokes' (the everlasting joy from Warp Record's Plaid) and the live tour that went along with it - twisted delays and assertive melodies guiding you from one track to the next. Most tracks could easily intertwine and the whole experience is both dance-worthy and contemplative with a rolling middle portion reminiscent of the best bits of the 'Dial P' mix rolled into one. This is both excitingly new and nostalgic. A skilled violinist and pianist, the training shines through with impeccably self-recorded & sampled violin scattered about the album. It bridges the electroacoustic gap while firmly staying loyal to electronica, neither raw or over-processed with a perfect level of usage. Similarly impressive is the use of scattered Amen-style breaks and confident kicks that underpin the whole thing. Although full of variety it never feels like it's searching for a purpose or trying too hard to fit in. I can relax or I can boogie, the choice is mine as the choice is there. From ambience to Klezmer and Jazz influences through a bevy of melodic electronica the whole thing ends perfectly with a relaxed piece that gives you a chance to contemplate what just happened. And albeit less secret and surprising as they used to be, it's lovely to be presented with a hidden track - my first listen was a pleasant revelation that my experience wasn't quite yet over. 14. Artist : Paranerd Title: Silktrops Label: Touched Music Cat no: TM38 Format: CD 100 Only/Digital Country: U.K. Style: IDM/Electronica Release Date August 25th 2017 Description. The excellent Touched Music for Macmillan Cancer Support, standby to release the third album by Canadian producer Paranerd, ‘Silktrops’. It’s dropping this week on CD and digital formats, with striking, colourful cover art and a promise to provide acid, ambient, braindance music. From the first track, Paul Goguen delivers on all fronts, with funky, laid back beats, reminiscent of early Detroit techno and lush interweaving pads and melodies. If braindance music is the ability of it to transport the listener to a faraway place with disco dancing astronauts, ‘Droid Shop’, ‘Fmeem’ and ‘Silktrops’ pack in enough dream inducing ambience and head bopping rhythm, to take you there instantly (wherever ‘there’ is for you!). The pace drops a few BPMs for the beautiful ‘Bellint’, awash with atmosphere and echo, a subtle vocal sample and some stunning detuned melodies. The melodies seemingly cross the divide back to a punchy faster beat for ‘Froz’, creating a nice contrast to the filter swept low harmonies and light high accents that create a sense of a cold, lunar freeze. ‘Drome’ takes us back to the outer space disco, before ‘Lunabear’ growls over a wonderful rolling bass line. Then the beats drop out for a trip with ‘Voso’, with delayed melodic stabs and though provoking chord changes. ‘Lentslide’ and ‘Vacate Fine Nancy’ introduce an almost breakbeat sounding element to the album, still with those perfect chord shifts and atmospheric touches, ending all too soon with the gorgeous off kilter beats of ‘Clutch from a past to State a Present’. The whole work has a cohesive, ambient heart that beats gently throughout each track. Melodies and rhythms stack against each other, before melting through the synapses and if that isn’t the definition of acid, ambient, braindance music then I’ll eat my space helmet. A wonderful package that makes you feel good twice; Once for the aural pleasure and second because it’s all for a good cause. This album has put Paranerd, Paul Goguen and his many aliases on my radar and I look forward to listening to ‘Silktrops’ many times, while I hunt down previous releases and look forward to more to come. 15. Artist : EXM Title: Modulus Label: Touched Music Cat no: TM36 Format: CD/Digital Country: U.K. Artwork: Style: IDM/Electronica Release Date 21.July.17 Well well well, if it isn’t exm again. This prolific artist has a multitude of self-released EPs under his belt and returns once more for his fourth contribution to Touched with music of fantastic quality. Each track piques your interest, every sound feels like it has a purpose and my are their lots of sounds. This release isn’t just generous in terms of style but at a shade under 90 minutes I don’t think anyone could complain that they weren’t being looked after. The opening of ’Modulus’ is sinister. ’3i2’ puts you on edge and alerts you to the presence of the next nines track lined up, a piece that wouldn’t sound out of place in the most epic of science fiction. Even the first sound’s pacing is so perfect I could loop it and be satisfied. But I don’t need to. Waiting for me is a barrage of noise all seemingly in its place and well thought out by the composer. Some of it is illusory - ’Wall’ has a pace that appears to increase whilst not actually doing so. If I didn’t have an anchor to the real world in the form of tapping feet I might certainly be lost. As a midpoint, ’5’ is a masterpiece - it’s an earworm. Its melody cohesive, at 9 minutes in length it still doesn’t feel long enough. And it’s a turning point too, the second half of ‘Modulus’ feels takes a robotic tone, like you’re stuck in an automated factory but you don’t really care about getting out, satisfied with the rhythmic beat of machines you are faced with. This is as good as any electronic music I’ve heard. It shows there are those out there who really care about their art, who want to push boundaries and challenge those who listen to it. I had previously compared exm to other great masters Autechre and their influence still shows however it feels more distant now. A place has been found by exm, he's carving out his niche and it's incredibly enjoyable. ‘Modulus’ is available as a limited run of CDs and as always a digital download (with bonus track ‘Meltt’) which is also provided to those who make a physical purchase from the Touched Bandcamp site. So show your support once more for Touched and get something great in return. Buy - https://touched.bandcamp.com/album/modulus
  16. https://www.residentadvisor.net/features/2958 Great read! Really great write up on one of the best labels out there at the moment.
  17. https://www.facebook.com/bedroomresearch/ Simon Pyke is one of my all time favorite music makers. Have loved his work since the earliest releases on Worm Interface, Skam, and Warp. Seems like he is returning very soon for one final curtain call under this moniker. As usual, artwork designed by his brother, Matt (ex-Designers Republic). I am beyond excited to get some new music from one of the masters.
  18. It’s truly ridiculous how quickly the first half of the year has gone. But that’s a good thing, because Touched Music has more releases under its belt and I have to wait less time for good things - good things like the next instalment in the Touched catalogue, “FfAtP”. This is a joint effort between Touched’s instigator Martin Boulton, AKA Min-Y-Llan and all-round good guy Floating Spirits, with some excellent remixes thrown in to boot. Listening through for the first time you wouldn’t guess this is a split EP by any means. The tracks flow incredibly well and if these two artists were political parties they should definitely form a coalition. Seamless emulation of each other never gets in the way of their respective styles. For Min-Y-Llan this is quite the departure from the melodic and for the most part happy things we have come to expect. It’s dark, moody and suspicious with great use of spoken word samples. Floating Spirits offers big sounds that are layered to perfection - it’s foot-tappingly good. There’s rarely a quiet moment and even those always have something going on. As a bonus the release finishes off with a group of remixes from other Touched contributors, as always willing to lend a hand with the great cause that is Macmillan Cancer Support. BLN, Quadrable, John Callaghan, Stoobz, AtOm AnT and exm all contribute to the latter half of the album. Hailing from Romania, The UK, Germany, The USA and The Netherlands it’s a real international roster of artists putting their unique spin on what is already a great record. Considering their impressive release history on labels such as Warp Records, Antigen Records, Concrete Plastic, Alternate Media Tapes & Hymen (just to name a few), whether they’re newcomers or returning to Touched Music it’s great to have them on board and helping out. 20. Artist : Monoform Title: Mea Culpa Label: Touched Music Cat no: TM34 Format: CD/Digital CD limited to 100 Country: U.K. Artwork: David Watson gridpattern.co.uk Style: IDM/Electronica Release Date April 1st 2017 Description "Monoform’s contribution to Touched Music may be titled with an admission of guilt, but let me assure you he’s done no wrong with what he’s created here; quite the opposite. Ten very well mixed and balanced pieces make up ‘Mea Culpa’, and it’s truly a joy to listen to. ‘Introx’ has an ambience about it, misleadingly so as it’s not representative of the rest of the album. It blends well into ’Minor Detour’ which is just that; it’s a well-thought track that ups the pace before a lesser-temped ‘Cerebral’. I’m captivated by the next four pieces, it’s easy to sit back and hear them all as separate movements of the same concerto. These could easily have been labeled “Track Parts One Through Four” and I wouldn’t have thought any differently. A darker note is adopted for the penultimate track and finally we’re offered more of the same ambience that the whole thing kicked off with. It’s so well executed that you could just hit “Repeat All” and do it all again without a care in the world. One of the most enjoyable things about this album is its structure and flow, something that appears to be a defining feature of the music coming out on Touched. ‘Mea Culpa’ isn’t just good noise, it tells a story and lets you experience it. Maybe Monoform’s guilty conscience is down to the fact he stopped at ten tracks? In any case I’ll be happy to hear what’s up his sleeves for next time." https://soundcloud.com/touched-music/monoform-on-paper-wings The album has a full preview on Friday night on Touched mixlr - Touched Mixlr Touched Music Presents Monoform - Mea Culpa Album Launch https://www.facebook.com/events/270944733351183/
  21. New Release From B12 B12 ft. Yonii - In Vain Nice to see B12 now has a Bandcamp Page https://firescoperecords.bandcamp.com/album/fs006-in-vain The EP entitled In Vain is the first EP featuring B12 and the wonderful singer songwriter Yonii. These are real songs, with real meanings and are the the result of a pure and wonderful collaboration The tracks tell a story, and with open ears and heart they will deliver the message clearly “Sympathy” A very acoustic sounding drum and percussion arrangement held together with glorious B12 esq Pads is the opener here. The vocals elevate this track to another level, with a dangerous equilibrium of vulnerability and distain. “Shotgun” Straight in with a heavy synth baseline and lyrics. A menacing track featuring a vocal that floats effortlessly on a downtempo B12 vibe. An exposed interplay of rhythmic melodies and dark imagery. “Moth” A busy beat and synth driven backdrop provide the platform for Yonii to tell her story of love and pain. Is it all in Vain? Why must we gravitate towards the flame that ultimately extinguishes us…. “Sympathy (Beatz)” & “Moth (Beatz)” Just the Beatz of the main tracks :-) Finished in glorious white and green splatter vinyl with exclusive full colour artwork by the wonderful Catherine Prendergast AKA Cellar Door FireScope Records like its parent label B12 Records - A label core to the UK techno scene with roots starting in the early 90’s launched by Michael Golding and Steven Rutter, will exist in conjunction with B12 Records and has the same ethos, quality music, quality packaging, without compromise and a product that will stand the test of time. FireScope will diversify somewhat, not just deep meaningful techno, but also techno with vocals, real songs with real meaning. credits releases March 20, 2017

  25. Hey WATMM heads! Remembering the AE-Warp25-Krakow bootleg recording from 2014? Well, we went to Budapest this year capturing an all new proper bootleg from Autechre's recent OneSix tour. You can check it out and get the FLAC version here: https://archive.org/details/AutechreOneSixTour-BudapestHU-07-11-16 The recording was captured using the same zoom H2n that was used in 2014 to capture the now semi-legedary Warp25 krakow recording, which actually made quite a stir here on this forum, with all the different remixes, etc. Alumni is still around here? haha Normally, this recording was also treated afterwards in order to sound as authentic to the real experience as possible. A fun fact is that the upload of this bootleg was approved by Rob Brown. We actually managed to catch up with him inside one of the largest thermal baths in Budapest, just a few hours before the gig and had a very interesting 30-min chitchat regarding stuff such as pirate radio, bootlegs sharing and all this old school background from where they are coming basically. ;) The bootleg is also available to stream via/ YouTube SoundCloud Mixcloud Enjoy and spread the sounds around! After the mind-altering experience in Budapest's darkest depths of Akvarium Club we can certainly say that OneSix is Autechre at their most sonically complex iteration till date. Cheers from Eastern EU, DSPH Sounds
