2008: 1 2 3 4 5 6 Hey, i am looking for some another 2008 ae interviews. Scans of Wire and Clash magazine would be much appreciated. Cheers!

god damn, it's so good. it's a bit melodic in the way that draft/untilted/confield are melodic, except with more straightforward beats. i wonder if some of the people who dislike recent autechre would be more into something like this? i've been changing the speed a lot on this one. on my copy the track seems locked after ISS:SA (or maybe using science they inserted a gigantic silent gap without taking up space on the record whoa), so i have to pick the needle up and go to track 2 of side A. anyway the density of of the tracks looked so much different that i tried playing Tangle Ill at

We've been blessed with not one but TWO great AE releases in a short span of time, with 20 great tracks to consume, analyze, and absorb - but overall, which one is the better of the two?

So I have been pretty much exclusively listening to the following few artists: Autechre, BoC, Plaid, Bonobo, Squarepusher and Clark I'm looking for something more in the vein of Ae/Clark style music. I'm NOT looking for anything with vocals, and I much prefer synth over real recorded instruments. Any good suggestions? Thx all

(photos via https://www.waste.org/~alone/autechre.html) So I've rediscovered this set and gotten heavy into this weekend. I need all good iterations of it and generally just want to gush over how good it is. As of right now I've got three good copies of this: Toronto (soundboard), Oakland, and Cologne. ever since i heard ae i've had a wish that i could be able to hear them on defined and professional sound system. i recently had a chance to hear some of the autechre material on really proper badass superb acoustics. a guy that builds his own speakers, about 2.6 m high, spent almost ten years completing the design and collecting the parts. all custom and defined and whatnot...anyway... what amazed me the most was recury. i always thought of it as one of my favourites, but i've never realized how powerful is its composition. as the first beats came in i already felt like i'm submerged int

Artist : EXM Title: Modulus Label: Touched Music Cat no: TM36 Format: CD/Digital Country: U.K. Artwork: Style: IDM/Electronica Release Date 21.July.17 Well well well, if it isn’t exm again. This prolific artist has a multitude of self-released EPs under his belt and returns once more for his fourth contribution to Touched with music of fantastic quality. Each track piques your interest, every sound feels like it has a purpose and my are their lots of sounds. This release isn’t just generous in terms of style but at a shade under 90 minutes I don’t think anyone c

I have no idea why. But the synths just sounded so much more melodic, and complex. It's sounded a whole lot less like just a cacophony of sound to me. It's got the super high energy that I wish was conveyed in more Autechre songs.

my guess is that because of the autechre collabs there have to be some fans/followers here. a few years ago i decided to make a commitment to really understand the essence this group (well, andrew mckenzie) and i have to say that for the most part ive been unsuccessful. best i can figure is that the works are intended to directly affect the listener in more than just an emotional/intellectual way. its like hes aiming for some kind of serious alteration of consciousness that can only be achieved if you fully engage with the work. that is, put as much work into experiencing the album as the crea

For me, it goes like this: Confield Chiastic Slide Untilted LP5 Oversteps Draft 7.30 Tri Repetae Amber Quaristice Incunabula Yeah, that pretty much says it. Confield is at the top, the first one of their "difficult" albums that properly clicked with me. Of course this (and any part of the list) may change as I go on to discover the albums in different ways. Oversteps came up right behind LP5. It's very hard to compare these two albums, but I suppose LP5 wins for its strong, hard-hitting tracks like Rae and Drane2. Oversteps is more about subtle atmosphere, which I might

There is nothing more amusing than reading negative comments on autechre. A shining example of relativity: the same qualities considered exemplary by those who love them are used as deplorable facts by those who cannot tolerate them. So, here is a thread that collects the common sense of repulsion towards the subject of this forum. I start with this gem just found on the net: It was the worst concert of more than hundred I have been to. The duo started out anonymously half an hours later they were supposed to. Rob Hall had to come out and play twice, I guess, because Autechre

Generally, we know, many tracks take time to reveal themselves: sometimes they can appear anonymous until one day, when we think we already know everything well, listening distractedly we realize that those are extraordinary ideas (yes, this happens to me when I lower my guard and I don't listen analytically), and we are surprised at how we couldn't understand it from the first moment. Even on exceptionally minimal pieces such as TBM2, all of a sudden the combination of an elementary tempo and a few laconic sounds can turn into suggestions of barely hinted melodies, which are built on subtle r

I always thought of this as an inconsistant progression between the manic sterile sounds of LP5 and the organic weirdness of Confield. However, I dug this out again this week and have been playing it a lot, and I have grown to love it a lot. I always thought a handful of tracks were great, especially the last 4, but now tracks like Squeller, Left Blank, and Liccflii have really grown on me. The only track I still don't like is Outpt, which starts off interesting but is too repetitve and goes on too long to hold my interest. Autechre always surprise me by keeping up with my tastes y

This is consistantly in my top 3 albums autechre has produced. Silverside, Slip, Piezo, Further, and Teartear are absolute classics and they never get old for me. The first 3 and last 3 tracks are damn perfect in succession. Anyone else feel this way?
