  1. Bleep has Boards of Canada shirts back in stock: https://bleep.com/merch/203
  2. In celebration of 21 years since the release of Music Has The Right To Children, there will be a mobile listening party in Peebles Island State Park in Waterford, New York, USA, on Saturday, April 20, 2019. See the attached image for details.
  3. Someone has uploaded scans of the CDr artwork to BOC's 1996 self-released LP, BOC Maxima:
  4. Also mentioned in the vinyl reissues thread, but important enough to repeat here - BOC's 1996 classic on Skam Records, Hi Scores, is available again on vinyl, CD and digital download via Bleep.com: https://bleep.com/release/5213-boards-of-canada-hi-scores If you don't already own this release, it is a MUST HAVE for any BOC/classic electronic music fan.
  5. Odd Nosdam uploaded all the instrumentals for the cLOUDDEAD LP 'Ten' onto YouTube, including the BoC Remix instrumental! Amazing how much was buried by the vocals! So far as I can tell this can only be found on YouTube for the time being, and who knows how long it'll stay up:
  6. 20 years young. I remember discovering MHTRTC (and Boards of Canada) through a tiny album review in the NME of all places, the week before release back in April 1998. It described an album awash with pleasing melodies and nostalgic childhood sounds, like it had sampled dated old science/nature documentaries you might have watched at school. A few days later I was in town, and found myself in one of my favourite indie record shops at the time (Imperial Records RIP). They had the CD hooked up to the number 1 spot on the listening post (remember those?) which was their way of saying 'best record of the week'. I must have enjoyed it right away, as I still have my CD copy from release week with the price sticker on it. I since picked up vinyl copies (including the promo above, for pennies in a secondhand rack), and have been along for the ride with BoC for the past 20 years. I am cast on a sea of my own personal nostalgia whenever I play it, yet it still sounds fresh and timeless to this day. I'm interested to hear how others came to discover this weird and wonderful album, and what it means to them now.
  7. Stumbled across an article from 2013 on the National Film Board of Canada's blog about Boards of Canada: https://blog.nfb.ca/blog/2013/09/23/music-has-the-right-to-children-sound/
  8. Hiya, Frequent lurker and former Braindance mod here. Thought this worth a shout here. I know it's a bit of a spammy start, but... c'mon... pretty chuffed with this line-up, if we do say so ourselves. So just keen to share the love as we're just a couple of independent entities who've clawed our way up to putting on events like this. So yeah... Cheers all. _____ Mango + Sweetrice Records & Bit-Phalanx Music present: 23rpm : An all-day Electronic Music Festival. 10. So what do you think? If you're familiar with Christ.'s music, how do you rate it compared to BoC's? In my view, he's really, really good. I don't know how much he was involved in the band - was he really one third for several years, or just one of the many associates. I think his influence is present on Twoism a lot - it's a very unusual record for them, as if he was partially the reason to leave the record minimal, without happy swirly synths and children voices. Quite similar to an early track by Christ. - Moxley Moy - kind of mood. On Campfire, Slow This Bird Down uses darker synths, like those on Christ.'s Metamorphic Reproduction Miracle. Personally, I prefer the latter to Campfire - it's a very detailed and dark record. And last, if you've read carefully the Matador bio, you know about the movie with the electrical pylons(my guess is that's where the 'annoying' Music for Pylons track belongs). Christ. has an EP called Pylonesque with a beautiful image of such pylons on the cover.(the EP is gorgeous as well) It's obvious Christ. and the boards were close, just wondering why they parted ways. I can only imagine how much he could contribute to their music.

  12. It would seem that this was just set up: https://skam.bandcamp.com/ If this is legit it's a pretty big deal; an official vendor to purchase all these formerly vinyl-only tracks. It's strange though, listening to the previews it would appear that some are obviously vinyl rips, such as MASK 100: [bandcamp width=100% height=120 album=2284040868 size=large bgcol=ffffff linkcol=0687f5 tracklist=false artwork=small] But then the preview for MASK 200 sounds totally clear... Clearer than ever, like it is driect from the DAT: [bandcamp width=100% height=120 album=1312612526 size=large bgcol=ffffff linkcol=0687f5 tracklist=false artwork=small] Thoughts?
  13. I was at the Eaux Claires fest in Wisconsin and was lucky enough to witness the classical ensemble "Stargaze" perform the entire Hi Scores EP. It was transcendent. I didn't even know it was going to happen! I was there to see Paul Simon, Danny Brown and Mouse on Mars. I had to take a couple short videos to prove to myself later that it was real. I wish i had recorded the whole performance but i was overwhelmed with emotion and mostly had to keep my eyes shut to take it in. It was such a loving recreation of the tracks that i couldn't imagine it being any more perfect. 16. Can you identify the 30 selected songs? http://bocpages.org/wiki/Snippet_Contest Credit to Cupz for the co-op on this one! The solution and some fun insights will be shared 22nd of March 2017. PS: Yes I've shared this contest before, April 2016, but I never shared the solution and didn't have a page up on bocpages etc. I'd also would like to have a bit more entries.
  17. I have unused download codes for Geogaddi, Campfire Headphase and In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country and Trans Canada Highway from the vinyl reissues. I don't need them because I have the CDs. Id like to trade them for some stickers, if anyone has any. PM me http://i.imgur.com/nl6gG4x.jpg
  18. so what are your favorite boards of canada beats? there are a ton that I like. i love the way their beats subtley evolve in so many of their songs. but, i think my favorites are the beats in Kid for Today and Peacock Tail. Kid for Today has one of those great evolving beats. it starts off with that simple but catchy click. by the time it's fully evolved there's at least 4 different snare hits that i can count. Peacock Tail is simple but infectious. that big 'boom clap ba-boom clap-boom' gets me every time. yours?
  19. I made these last year as components to larger mixes. Isolated them here for ease of listening. The first one is White Water & Bucephalus Bouncing Ball: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43353797/Sweguno%20-%20%27Fex%20Vs%20BoC%201%20-%20Bucephalus%20Water-Ball.wav Next one is Skyliner & Peek 192875652387984792849385676349876: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43353797/Sweguno%20-%20%27Fex%20Vs%20BoC%202%20-%20PeekLiner.wav Enjoy (?)
  20. Hey guys, Relatively new to the forums here. Wanted to see what you guys thought about this record that I made in my attic. If you enjoy it you can download it for free. Here is the link to stream or download Thanks!
  21. I've been a fan of Boards of Canada for quite a while now, and I always knew from the start that they used subliminal messaging in their songs, but I never knew that they used it to praise the devil or whatever other gods they might believe in. I'm really disappointed in them because I always thought of their songs as one of the best I've ever listened to, especially Dayvan Cowboy. So my question is this: Does anyone know whether or not there are any reversed or hidden vocal samples in Dayvan Cowboy? If so, where are they?
  22. Odd Nosdam - Sisters 1. Bow They Will ! ! ! 2. Profane Bong Sue 3. Ten Echoes 4. Burrow 5. Center 6. Strng Day So Freee ! ! ! 7. Sisters 8. Endless 432 (feat. Teebs) 9. Rained (for Lise) -- Bonus: 10. Sisters (Boards of Canada remix) I'm guilty for not ever listening to his previous LP's, only his remixes here and there which he seems to do a lot of. This is the first and it's short and sweet, 29 minutes of hazy summer beats with a nice BoC remix thrown in for good measure. Tracks like; Profane Bong Sue, Burrow and Endless 432 are my immediate standouts.
