morning watmm! i have a lot of music on my external disks. alot of which is just sitting there waiting to be discovered. i used to be happy with foobar2000 but now i'm on a mac, so i'm stuck with gnarly vlc. vlc is a very good video player, not a very good music player. having used the good itunes (back in the days) and spotify now i'm also realizing that i need more of a music library app – not just a player – to categorize, shuffle, search and discover my music. it's uninspiring and boring to dig through tons of files and directories with no album art or categorization, as you all know. i'd really like to just index a directory with all my files, have the album art and metadata automatically inserted and be presented with something like a grid view with albums/artists/songs. i've searched the net for something, and i found the open source "clementine" which says it shall do all of this, but it is very in progress, slow and buggy when loading many files. any tips for a good application out there? i'll give my money for a good, stable application that can handle large amount of files and support all the normal file types FLAC, WAV, MP3, AIFF
Holy shit. This! http://themelkerproject.com/dear-david-guetta-you-suck/ "I was writing to let you know that you are the worst and represent everything that is wrong with DJ and EDM culture. I recently had the displeasure of reading your interview with Beatport. Riveting stuff, really. I particularly enjoyed the following excerpt: ***Not everything went smoothly behind-the-scenes, though.. Something crazy happened to me on the [first weekend], he says. Im using Rekordbox and Pioneer to play, and before I saved my playlist to my SD card, my computer crashed. So I just had to put all my music in a random order on USB sticks at the last minute, doing it really old school, scrolling to look for the records I wanted to play next.*** There are so many things wrong with you, and with this paragraph, that I felt compelled to write you this heartfelt letter. First, if you are using Rekordbox, USB sticks and Pioneer to play, there is NOTHING old school about it these are new technologies used by EDM DJs. You wouldnt know old school if DJ Jazzy Jeff slapped you in the face with a dubplate. What you attempted to do is not old school, its actually just DJing. Congrats! Further, a true old school DJ uses these weird things called turntables. You put vinyl records on these turntables. They have needles and everything!"... click link for the rest. Amazing LOLZ
I took a hiatus from Sub FM to move to Atlanta. Now I am here and settled, and am going to be re-starting my show this evening. I'm in a new timeslot now, weekly at 9-11pm EST. (that's approximately an hour and 15 minutes from the time of this post) Tune in to hear some sick beats, produced by myself and others, some random IDM bits, techno, dubstep, dnb, and ambient. Let's see if I still remember how to mix. www.sub.fm
