LONE NOT SEEING IS A FLOWER EP Label: Ancient Astronauts Cat: astro04 LONE - NOT SEEING IS A FLOWER EP REACHES BEYOND REALITY Lone continues to thrive on his newly established label, Ancient Astronauts, with its second physical release of the year, the ‘Not Seeing Is a Flower’. Steering towards a new studio album from the Nottingham-based producer, the three-track EP takes its name from a Japanese idiom (見ぬが花), which suggests that reality cannot compete with imagination. Lapping at varied shades of the psyche, ‘Glyphic’ kicks things off with a heavyweight tribal techno cut inspired by Cutler’s experiences at Bass Coast festival this summer, fusing 303 acid with sweltering piano lines and otherworldly vocals for a transcendental dancefloor experience. The senses are heightened with title-track ‘Not Seeing Is A Flower’, which reaches beyond reality with slowly spoken samples effortlessly melting into a lush ambient techno backdrop reminiscent of early work from The Future Sound Of London, Orbital, and The Black Dog. Finally, ‘Boketto’ sees Lone embrace the same tone of downtempo trip-hop detailed on his albums ‘Lemurian’ and ‘Reality Testing’ with rolling percussion and meditative chimes drawing close on some of the producer’s most lavish work to date. Press Release Following Lone AKA Matt Cutler’s stunning sixth album ‘Levitate’s hallucinogenic joyride through breakbeats, he returns to R&S with ‘Ambivert Tools’ the first in a series of EPs for the floor returning to hypnotic 4/4 excursions. Inspired in no small part by the rich seam of house that he’s been excavating with his fine Magicwire imprint, a refreshed Cutler delivers an EP stacked with sure-fire bullets, crafted for his intoxicating DJ sets. First up is ‘Crush Mood’ - crunching drums, lush resampled chords and dulcet female vox combine into a heady, peak-time rush. ‘Chroma' comes off like a lost 90s anthem, with its shimmering vibes, airy chords and bumpy rhythm track. B-side closer ‘From A Past Life’ could well be the strongest track on the EP - hazy Emulator ii chords, spiral arpeggios, gooey bass and woozy african percussion that finds Lone digging deeper into some of his more esoteric House music influences. 'Ambivert Tools' finds Cutler a true master, at the top of his game - taking all he’s learned over his many years of beat exploration and condensing it down into rugged house stacked full of nagging melody / harmony that elegantly pays tribute to bygone years whilst simultaneously feeling fresh and vital to 21st century dance floors. First acts have been announced: http://simplethingsfestival.co.uk Godspeed You! Black Emperor are kicking things off on the Friday night. I'm personally looking forward to Lone, Long Arm, Factory Floor, Objekt, Helena Hauff. Need to school myself on some of the other acts. Been meaning to investigate Dean Blunt. Hoping more acts will be announced.

Greetings! Just been listening to some of the samples for this album on boomkat after reading the newsletter this morning.
