  1. Hi everyone! I'm a long-time lurker, first time poster here. Just wanted to share the first of a few electronic tracks I've been working on for my upcoming EP titled "Midnight Oasis", a short collection of reworks/remixes/complete reconstructions of some of my favorite artists' songs. This first one here is a full-bodied rework of a personal favorite, #3 by Aphex Twin. Thank you for listening and let me know what you all think!
  2. Hi all, Back to making music... here's two new tracks (one original and one remix). Enjoy! # 1 (made for a video for this exhibition: http://www.fashionspacegallery.com/exhibition/warpaint_mcqueen/) # 2 (Out in June via the Touched Two Remix compilation)
  3. I searched and couldn’t find anything, but I know we’ve talked about this before and it’s probably a thread: Reading the harmony thread and several others on here about “rules” and all those pesky little standards we all have regarding them got me curious. What are all your opinions of sampling other artists work- rules, etiquette, what should or shouldn’t be, etc. Not trying to open the whole “is a dj a musician” debate at all- I’m only specifically talking about making a “non-remix” track, or whatever. Your original work- how do u go about deciding what’s off limits or not. No judgement at all, just curious about everyone’s process. Personally, I draw the line with sampling things that I like, which are “too close” to the artists I may consider in the same field as me. And this can affect the way I like music too. Examples: can’t stand listening to Front Line Assembly or ltj bukem sample afx. I still like those artists a lot, but those tracks I can’t really get into. The ideal sample for me is something like the background jazz music in a 70s instructional record or whatever- u know what I mean. The crate digging archaeological aspect has always been what I am into. What I dig. But that doesn’t mean I don’t listen to plenty of stuff that has no rules. In some ways I feel restricted, but I can’t escape my rules. I do like dj shadow, or fsol, who have both sampled things that would have been “off limits” for me. Bjork, tangerine dream, jean Michael jarre- I just think they don’t belong chopped up in my stuff. Again, this is no judgement at all- I really just want opinions on it. I read an article in grooves magazine once, years ago, where this guy was talking about sampling being like fast food, and it not satisfying you the same way creating something without samples would. He could have been talking about sample cd packs, tho. That brings up other concepts too- what other media is ok to sample (I don’t really have any rules with movies/tv etc)- I never liked the sample pack thing- but I have used them a couple times, really rarely and still trying to use obscure or outdated ones from cds or whatever. Amen, think, Apache- these are all ok to me because they have been sampled to shit. Idk- just wanna know your thoughts on it!
  4. Available from Nuron's Bandcamp, available for a limited time. Original remix w/ vocals here.

  6. Warmed up the tubes, switched on the RE-201. Vermona DSR-3 was in good health. Reharmonised the track a bit Dubbed out dance
  7. This is the best remix he ever did in my opinion...
  8. New remix for Maru. It's lush.
  9. New Xanopticon remix on this.Fire. https://theesource.bandcamp.com/album/thee-source https://theesource.bandcamp.com/track/none-shall-pass-xanopticon-remix
  10. I read that somewhere - maybe here, I don't know. (I'm new here (hi)) If that is in fact true, which songs from this commercially-released album were sourced from mp3s? That sounds incredibly lazy and I find it very hard to believe. Was that just a rumor?
  11. I don't know if this is worthy of a separate post but hey, Clark remixed Not The news from Thom Yorke's last album! Buy the remix and the entire EP at https://bleep.com/release/139593-thom-yorke-not-the-news-rmx-ep
  12. Sean mentioned it in AAA, so I looked for more info: Out at the start of 2014 as a limited edition vinyl and digital release will be Dilankex with a 17 min remix from Autechre. http://www.obermanknocks.com/
  13. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072JJW66B
  14. I was twiddling around yesterday and recorded a little "see on see" remake. Thought you guys might like it :) [sc5][/sc5] I would be interested in hearing any remixes/ remakes you guys did. I've heard lots of Aphex Twin remixes and they always give me a fresh outlook on the original track, but i haven't found anything for AE.
  15. New massive Zola Jesus remix by Xanopticon on soundcloud (seems to be only available to buy here on amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01546ZPQS/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp) The Master at work.Unbelievable beatmaking/programming skills.
  16. i imagine a few folks around here tried their hands at Deep Trail remixes. It was pretty fun for me. Anyway, this is what I came up with. I slowed it way down and of course made it reverbier and added like 3 bass synths :) [sc5]218504054[/sc5]
  17. Martin Boulton, aka Min-Y-Llan, will be broadcasting a 2 hour showcase from Plaid, including album tracks, remixes and unreleased stuff, on the evening of 8 May. see the link for further information, hallelujah! http://www.facebook.com/events/698389120218314/698423696881523/
  18. Browsing through Discogs I see that Mike P. has done a huge number of remixes: most unheard by me presently and most seemingly rare and oop. This topic is for posting your favorites. Of those that I've heard his Nav Katze remix from 1997 is my current favorite, though that could certainly change considering how many I've not heard... Post away!
  19. Nice vibes on this badboy, no news on a release date yet but it doesn't take much imagination to work out that there'll probably be some remixes released as a follow up to Falty's album from last year. Sounding great, gimme! FaltyDL - New Haven [Give The Drummer Some] Luke Vibert rmx
  20. Coming Soon Logreybeam - False Start [Remixed] Remixes From Remixes by: Ruxpin Missingsense Roel Funcken Ben Milstein Exercise One Mikael Stavöstrand Roy E. Gamble Ignatius/Steeb AliasBrook Vibrane Cyance Twerk Shiro Fujioka / Voltagectrlr Thomas Wulfe Tom Roberts More Info And Sounds To Come
