full disclosure- i've only 'recently' got into squarepusher much, or really any of this type of electronic music for that matter. i bought go plastic maybe 4-5yrs ago, it grew on me quickly and eventually i loved it. didn't get another of his for maybe a year or two. got hard normal and feed me, loved those. since then i've been grabbing the major releases and have most of them by now. anyway, one of my recent acquisitions is Hello Everything. I also just got Ultravistor. Ultravisitor is pretty weird, and maybe a bit too wandering and loose for what i want. it seems like the random noisey parts of go plastic but as a full album, then with bass noodling every once in a while. don't get me wrong, it's kind of growing on me, but not so quickly. Hello Everything on the other hand, is pretty awesome. I love these tracks: Hello Meow- the one i like least out of this list. which is saying a lot because it's good. Planetarium- amazing. I love the whole vibe, it's like music you listen to while going on an adventure through space, traveling across the galaxy. i love that shit. Circlewave 2- i love the bass solo here. it reminds me a bit of 'spanish caravan' by the doors Welcome to Europe- another awesome high energy track. i love that bassline and the squelchy synth Plotinus- the ending part with the electronic buzzing sounds, i don't know how to describe them, but it's incredible. Modern Bass Guitar- more playful, not a serious vibe at all, really noisy and hectic but some amazing stuff in there and it does actually get a bit ominous later in the other tracks, they are all at least ok enough that i don't want to skip them. to me, this has become one of my favorites (of all artists) and it really seems to represent what i think of when i think of squarepusher. it's like the apex of his sound.

THE REFERENDUM ON THE UK'S MEMBERSHIP OF THE EU HAS HAD APPALLING CONSEQUENCES. IT HAS AMPLIFIED MANY DIVISIONS IN SOCIETY AND IN PARTICULAR HAS HELPED TO RE-ESTABLISH XENOPHOBIA AS LEGITIMATE AND ACCEPTABLE. WITNESSING THIS AGAINST THE GLOBAL BACKDROP OF A RESURGENCE OF THE FAR-RIGHT, IT'S ESSENTIAL THAT THOSE WHO FIND THESE DEVELOPMENTS UNACCEPTABLE MAKE THEIR THOUGHTS KNOWN AND TAKE ACTION. THIS PIECE OF MUSIC WAS WRITTEN IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE REFERENDUM AND I PRESENT IT AS THE BASIS OF AN INTERNATIONALIST COLLABORATION WITH SOUND MAKERS IRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT KIND OF MUSIC THEY MAKE, WHERE THEY LIVE, THEIR BACKGROUND, THEIR AGE - ALL ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE. IT IS NOT OFFERED AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROGRESSIVE POLITICAL ACTION BUT AS A COMPLEMENT TO IT. I PUT IT FORWARD IN DEFIANCE OF THE BIGOTRY THREATENING THE FRAGILE CONNECTIONS THAT EXIST BETWEEN US ALL. I HOPE IT WILL BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO REAFFIRM SOME OF THOSE CONNECTIONS AMIDST A VERY DISTURBING SITUATION. I HAVE PROVIDED A FINISHED MIXDOWN OF THE PIECE AND AUDIO STEMS OF THE CONSTITUENT INSTRUMENTAL PARTS. ALSO AVAILABLE ARE SCORES AND A MIDI FILE REPRESENTING THE NOTE TO NOTE INFORMATION. TAKE THE PARTS AND USE THEM HOWEVER YOU LIKE. IT COULD BE SUBTLY REMIXED OR REWORKED BEYOND RECOGNITION. CHANGE THE INSTRUMENTATION, THE KEY, THE ORDER OF NOTES, THE NOTES THEMSELVES - IT IS ABSOLUTELY OPEN. THE ONLY STIPULATION IS THIS: IF YOU WANT YOUR PIECE TO BE LISTED ON THIS SITE THEN IT MUST HAVE THE TITLE "MIDI SANS FRONTIÈRES". YOU ARE WELCOME NOT TO USE THAT TITLE FOR WHATEVER YOU DO BUT THAT MEANS WE CAN'T HOST YOUR PIECE. www.squarepusher.net

I read on the wiki that the album was done without a computer. in my opinion, that seems so unrealistic that i've been listening to it all morning trying to figure out what the hell is going on. certain sections are obviously performed and recorded, but other sections are so meticulous and drawn out/lacking repetitiveness, that it doesn't really seem to be plausible. I'm not sure of what technology was available back in 2001, but i can't imagine that album being arranged, sliced and chopped with no computer interference. Any of you guys/girls have any mind-blowing info on the subject? Is it actually not that big of a deal?

https://fielddayfestivals.com/ Surprised no one has mentioned this, I found out today from a geezer from work who asked if I was going. Kraftwerk 3D, Chemical Brothers, Squarepusher and Floating Points among others for £70 plus booking fee. Which seems like good value. I really enjoyed the last Field Day, nice atmosphere, good vibe crowd and weather was perfect. It’s a major mission to get to though, all the way from way, way west. Might get some friends from work to go….

Squarepusher’s sonic masterpiece and debut mind-melter of an LP Feed Me Weird Things returns, reissued on double vinyl for the first time since its release on the 3rd of June 1996. Originally released on Rephlex, Aphex Twin himself noted on the sleeve notes of the original that Squarepusher makes “sound like sound never sounded before… Squarepusher gives us the SOUND of SOUND.” Now released on Warp 25 years later, the original album has been remastered from the original DATs and features two extra tracks on a 10 which were first released on the B-side of the Squarepusher Plays… EP and later featured on the original Japanese release of this album. The edition also includes a 16 page booklet with personal photographs, ephemera and notes from Tom Jenkinson, giving us an insight into his early career and into a time of true experimentation and innovation during the mid-90s. To say it was ‘ahead of its time’ feels unsatisfactory, and almost chronologically inaccurate - the wild array of styles it blends makes Feed Me Weird Things seem to exist in a time and space continuum all of its own. Maybe there really were UFOs over Leytonstone? Using the nascent energy and wildly experimental drum programming of jungle as its main rhythmic driving force, Feed Me Weird Things is celebrated for the way it was able to blend and cross-pollinate genres so effectively. Jazz, instrumental dub, trip-hop, UK hardcore, ambient synthesis, seventies cop funk and even a kind of mangled bossa nova are all tied magically together, transcending into a sound uniquely his own. Without delving into the many highlights and moments on the record, it serves as both a snapshot of one of the most vital, experimental periods in the history of UK electronic music and how the young Tom Jenkinson was pushing the boundaries of electronic music, into something well and truly weird, feeding into the canon of electronic music that resonated on into that decade and beyond. https://bleep.com/squarepusher-feed-me-weird-things-warp?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Exclusive+|+Squarepusher+-+Feed+Me+Weird+Things+(Warp)+|+Limited+Edition+Merchandise+|+Just+Announced&utm_campaign=Squarepusher+-+Feed+Me+Weird+Things+(Warp)&vgo_ee=X%2Ff68E0cbmDQVqNOqFxmzxwUnRnlmwiuCIJkd9A7F3A%3D

I think many of us go through different phases in our music tastes, and after spending a while listening to more ' regular' bands, 90s electronic music, and the (arguably somewhat nostalgic) newer releases by Aphex Twin/Squarepusher/Ae/Vibert/Jega etc., I'd like to hear something really unashamedly ambitious, challenging, and experimental. I don't mean punkish or crazy or noisy or breakcore-ey - I mean something chin-strokingly, brain meltingly weird and wonderful. Something incredibly nerdy (for want of a better word) following in the way of Autechre's most extreme and detailed moments. It can be as difficult as Cage or Schoenberg or Stockhausen or Xenakis or whoever, but from today, using today's technology. I recently heard some Komet, Ryoji Ikeda and Alva Noto and Byetone and a couple of other white noise glitchy mathematical sine-wave folk, and they sounded great, but not quite alien enough for what my ears are after right at this phase. There seems to be a bit of - I don't know - an ironic wink to what the old timers are doing now, a kind of nostalgic sigh, almost an embarrassed glance backwards, which is understandable, but it'd be great to hear someone who wasn't self-conscious about wanting to push things forwards. Can anyone recommend anyone? I think what did it was hearing Confield the other day.

upon listening to this album, i have concluded that squarepusher does a hell of a lot of lsd.

Post some movies with good music. Off the top of my head, Children of Men had Aphex Twin and King Crimson Lost in Translation had Squarepusher and My Bloody Valentine Dont remember specifics but Layer Cake's soundtrack seemed to fit well
