  1. Medium has an article on a Tokyo subway worker who creates amazing signs with duct tape: https://medium.com/@chrisgaul/tokyo-subways-humble-duct-tape-typographer-a8c84bb6b99b
  2. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/394188952/2020-the-semi-modular-beat-machine And some heavily edited video: Basically I'm very interested in this, but not sure it's worth the investment for what I might get out of it. Seen a few reviews popping up in the weeks since I first saw it, but none of them really have any more information on actual real time usage or live demos; all we're shown is the video above and some links to performances where it's assumed a version of the software was used. I'm quite sure this guy isn't blowing smoke, but I'm also not sure how useful/good this will actually be once it's complete.
  3. National Geographic takes a look at the Nakagin Capsule Tower:
  4. I'll be in Tokyo from the 25th of September, for 12 days or so. Mostly going for Square Sounds chiptune festival: (it's the replacement of the Blip festival if anyone knows that) .. but will have a lot of time to do other things, so I figured if any of you WATMMers are up for having a drink somewhere, or being my tour guide/gig buddy, it would be pretty good. I've never actually been overseas before so I'm kinda shitting myself over how I'm gonna get around without knowing any Japanese, zole.
  5. Just over an hour of serene flying footage over Tokyo as it turns to night, which I've paired up with some appropriate ambient lushness. Good for winding down/relaxing/entering a hypnotic state. Possibly the longest music video I've put together so far! Set quality to 720p for best results. Enjoy

    Let's go to Tokyo!

Alitalia has flights with crazy discounts for the next two days so I've decided to make my dream come true and go to Tokyo for a week in March. 500 euro for the return ticket from Rome! The problem is that no one wants to come with me. If you live in Europe you're likely to find a low-cost flight to Rome for nothing or a combination flight through alitalia. It doesn't generally bother me traveling alone but a 15 hour flight slightly frightens me. Wanna come with me? ... Alternatively I would appreciate some advice on what not to miss if you've already been. Thanks!

    Shinkansen Girl

I used Synplant for most of the sounds in this. All vocal work is produced by my own lungs. Inspired by my experience from travelling on the Shinkansen train between Kyoto and Tokyo. I even shot some of the journey which I used for some visuals for the track. Would love to get some feedback on this. http://soundcloud.com/katsucurrytime/shinkansen-girl-demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j_YkxpLW00
  8. Awesome video of Tokyo set to Vangelis's classic Blade Runner soundtrack. Watch in HD for the full experience. [vimeo]30300114[/vimeo]
