  3. So, so happy this finally has a digital release. Low-key synth & keyboard studio album by Swedish all-rounder Gustaf Dicksson. Limited edition of 300 copies with insert. From the early days of the found-sounds recordings (like the downright scary Unga Röster album and the hilarious Mandys Bil 7"), the homespun kitchen recordings/tape collages of the still-going Idiotmusik series to the more carefully elaborated and precise Leendet Från Helvetet and Knutna Nävar albums, the massive Livets Ord dropped like a bomb when it originally surfaced as a self-released cassette in 2018. Heavily based on synths and keyboards and clocking in on no less than close 70 minutes over 4 LP-sides, this is arguably THE epic album from the cluster around the Förlag För Fri Musik empire. Gustaf Dickssons' fascination for christianity/religious assemblies shines through once again, the title Livets Ord ("The word of life") derived from the Swedish free church/sect with the same name that was based in Uppsala between 1983-2013 and casting a pastoral shadow over the ambient music of the album. While dabbling with a long tradition of kosmische musik and private-pressed new age wonders, Blods now patented sound of a Björn Isfält-gone-sour still lingers throughout the entire recording. A cornerstone in contemporary Gothenburg underground music. Featuring guest appearances by Emelie Thulin and Jerker Jarold. Truly beautiful stuff, especially the 22min closer 'Ute Blaser Sommarvind' which has a wistful, life-affirming quality to it.
  4. https://kmru.bandcamp.com/album/peel One of the most compelling ambient albums I have heard in a LONG time. Despite his ambiance, KMRU has a style that is all his own. Very special.
  5. I've wanted to do this thread for a while. Drone music has many faces, but often hard to find. I've never read anything in this forum about it, except for an old thread where the discussion was more focused into explaining the difference between ambient and drone instead of sharing rare and astonishing drone pieces. Would be great if this thread turned into a nice thing worthy of his pretentious title! I'll start showing what I mean with awesome drone music (in different styles) Classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMfGLNrLvGA (sublime) Less classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP5DjYUCcUY (heart melting) Avant-garde: http://isakedberg.com/Λ.wav (fucking incredible) Anyone into this kind of stuff?
  6. Boomkat: Limited to 100 copies. Volume 4 is perhaps the most unsettling and uncanny in the series so far, mirroring the latter stages of The Caretaker’s ‘Everywhere At The End Of Time’ series with what sounds like a trace echo of disembodied choral voices floating in and out of field recordings and found sounds coalescing in ghostly formation. As per usual, we’re not gonna attempt to guess any of the included material, except to say that to us it sounds like deepest drone, concrète and sound art deployed at an almost imperceptible BPM, with diffused obscurities merging into foley, industrial and phantasmagoric atmospheres and the kind of multi-layered chicanery this lot have become so effortlessly good at piecing together. I finally received my tape today. Sounds fantastic. Best in the series so far - the Caretaker reference is spot-on. It sold out on Boomkat within two hours but Sean Canty has one for a reasonable price on Discogs.
  7. Thanks to @joshuatxuk for this excellent heads-up. Originally released on limited edition cassette for BEER ON THE RUG in 2015. track 19 is an added bonus track from Catalog sessions not on original release This will go some way to keeping fans of Sweden's Axel Backman (1991) happy. This is misty-eyed ambient and new age nostalgia, catatonic, detuned idents and pre-internet graphical demo attract sequences. It's absolutely lovely.

  12. i have decided this morning that it is time i finally put together a band. a band that will blow minds. i have a vision, but it is blurry as of yet. some background: recently i played fretless bass on halloween doing a goth miley cyrus cover thing. i was actually amazed how cool it sounded to play fretless with overdrive and reverb and it actually turned out amazing and the chemistry between me and the guitar player was good. he does like drone shit but he's generally versatile. a bit too much of a stoner at times but not retarded level. either way, i found the experience of playing in a 'dark' band to be actually quite exhilarating. i used to play punk, moved on to classical and then jazz. and of course i make electronic music. but the whole thing, the presentation, how much the crowd loved the drama, the theatre of the thing. it was awesome. so i'm gonna make a band. i'm gonna be the front man. i'm gonna contort myself into weird poses and come up with a strange hair-do. these things are going to happen. i got a drummer on lock who is down, he knows how to tackle any style. plus he's bald so that's kind of aesthetically cool. guitar guy is super skinny with long hair and big beard. i'm salv, u kno me. so i'm trying to draw from a lot of sources to synthesize the aesthetic i want to achieve. so i will list off some influences. - DAF. "alles ist gut". want to have dissonance and darkness and quietness - bauhaus noodly guitar noises - nitzer ebb synths - einsturzende neubauten brutality - aenima era tool live performances. i want to be all weirdly contorting and having that interplay of soft/loud - korn. a bit of 'falling away from me'. not the vocals but some of the general production and harshness - sonic youth. want to use the kind of alternate tunings and jangly bits. later era stuff with jim o'rourke. ambient loop soundscapes. - mick karn fretless bass style stuff - diamanda galas - NIN obvs - holy music such as gregorian chant and tibetan shit. out there stuff. microtones. but somehow fuse things together in a way where everything is dark and bewildering and in your face at times but then fading into shimmering ambience and drone. want it to feel like a continuous experience that fuckin blows the minds of the audience. drama. excitement. weirdness. just the whole damn package. so yeah just like gimme stuff i should listen to to get the creative juices flowin. i mean they are flowin. sort of. but i want them to gush, baby. make me gush, fuckers

  19. Hi, Happy to announce my latest work is now available, The Last Ambient Christmas. Available digitally and as a super limited CD, it's a Christmas album that's more than a little bit different. You don't have to like Christmas music or even Christmas in general to get something out of this one. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.
  20. Limited Edition CD (60 hand-numbered copies) GALATIMOSCONI is a collaboration between Roberto Galati and Federico Mosconi.Their first record, 'Penombra', was recorded trying to maintain a live approach, genuine and spontaneous. With 'Dissolve' they decided to exchange ideas and sounds from their own studios, focusing on the richness of their different musical languages and the consequent possibility of making converge their diverse paths in a shared direction.Tracks slowly have evolved, sounds have been added and subtracted, mixing each of both artist's individual styles. They combined guitar parts processed with Ableton’s Max for Live and Max/MSP, field recordings, synthesisers and a hint of violin, in order to create huge and immersive sounds, dense and layered motifs, that then dissolve, and slowly turn off.'Dissolve' reflects two sonic viewpoints as a whole.
