  3. I am starting a new radio show, the first episode is tonight, 9pm GMT via https://soundartradio.org.uk/ "The Tump Clump" is just an hour, once a month, of mainly new music I have discovered from all over the place. A mix of vinyl / digital and me chattering. Taking in noise, drone, improv, experimental, industrial, techno and even some sludge drone metal stuff this time. Basically, my usual melting pot (if anyone has read my zines its like that) This was recorded in my shed. Due to covid restrictions still in place - live broadcasting is not possible for everyone yet from the real studios. I recorded it live in one take and you can tell as I fluff up a few times and my vocals are quiet / mashed a bit with the vox I added. Hey ho. A learning experience. The music is the key. From the studios I plan to do live vinyl mixes plus I want to do a live techno/noise jam with my hardware. And I am allowed phone interviews too if anyone fancies it - lol - no swearing tho. Artwork by the fantastic blackcloudsummoner - I feature one of the collaborative tracks with Territorial Gobbing under the WET MIRROR name. Always looking for new tunes to play in future shows so HMU. Shows will go up on Mixcloud after - Ill stick links up here after. Cheers Soloman Tump
  4. I'm not familiar Novi_sad, but today sees the release of his first album for Raster. Already loving this. Field recordings intermingle with diaphanous tones, sometimes punctuated by moments of noise. Oceania starts off the album with processed field recordings, soon delivers a gut punch, before the relaxing again. One of those tracks that will give you a jolt if you've got your music on shuffle. I've been very impressed with the direction Raster has taken since the dissolution of Raster-Noton.
  5. I've wanted to do this thread for a while. Drone music has many faces, but often hard to find. I've never read anything in this forum about it, except for an old thread where the discussion was more focused into explaining the difference between ambient and drone instead of sharing rare and astonishing drone pieces. Would be great if this thread turned into a nice thing worthy of his pretentious title! I'll start showing what I mean with awesome drone music (in different styles) Classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMfGLNrLvGA (sublime) Less classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP5DjYUCcUY (heart melting) Avant-garde: http://isakedberg.com/Λ.wav (fucking incredible) Anyone into this kind of stuff?
  6. https://lineimprint.bandcamp.com/album/earths-shadow good droney stuff. a lot of his tends towards experimental weirdness but this one doesn't go quote too far that way but still definitely comes from that place, just ends up a bit more emotional and open. haven't grabbed it yet, may wait til Bandcamp Friday (this upcoming Friday, i think?)

  8. Half of Emptyset, Ginzburg releases an album of ambient drones on his own label. Should be interesteing.
  9. Myself (as Soloman Tump) and Stone Jaw followed up our 2020 split, and created a socially distanced collaborative dungeon synth/noise/drone/weird thing that we christened Clairvont. We each worked independently on layers of sound, not knowing what the other was preparing, only guided by a rough duration. Sounds like it could be a complete clusterfuck, right?! Well, actually it turned out to be semi-cohesive and it helped us come up with the project name and premise. We layered our sections, and with some simple volume / EQ control, The First was created.
  10. Free album to see out this year to forget. Music made from signals found from the far reaches of space. Forget about this world for a while and lose yourself in the void... Stay safe.
  11. Surprising compilation from German techno label Figure - ambient, downtempo, IDMish material from John Beltran, The 7th Plain (!), Ralf Hildenbeutel (!!!), Moritz von Oswald, Kangding Ray and more.
  12. Picked this up this week. New band for me, although they were active back in the last decade and broke up in 2008. This music is emotionally crushing - maybe not the sound you want to hear in current times. Still amazing. Boomkat describe it best. https://boomkat.com/products/going-places-390db797-a1cb-433d-ac4a-63aeb8652548
  13. Some ambient VZ10M synth stuff to help you pass the time until the new Autechre drops
  14. Seefeel founding member Mark Clifford releases an EP of scraping, singing guitar tone experiments today on ‘Playback EP’! Some fascinating textures and novel wrangling of harmonics for those who like to hear ostensibly familiar sounds from an oblique angle. Buy/Stream here: https://markclifford.bandcamp.com/album/playback-ep A video for the first track ‘Blue-Fi I: “The basic tracks for ‘Playback’ were recorded 15 years ago during a four hour session at Playback Studios in Brighton, and with a resident engineer more accustomed to recording Eastern European orchestras than experimental guitar music. It was a time in my life when I needed to break some emotional glass and the intensity of the sound in the studio succeeded in doing that. Over the following weeks I played around with the stems at home largely using a GRM Tools plugin. The tracks were kind of shelved with the intention of eventually finishing them as an album but this was never fully realised.”

  17. So, so happy this finally has a digital release. Low-key synth & keyboard studio album by Swedish all-rounder Gustaf Dicksson. Limited edition of 300 copies with insert. From the early days of the found-sounds recordings (like the downright scary Unga Röster album and the hilarious Mandys Bil 7"), the homespun kitchen recordings/tape collages of the still-going Idiotmusik series to the more carefully elaborated and precise Leendet Från Helvetet and Knutna Nävar albums, the massive Livets Ord dropped like a bomb when it originally surfaced as a self-released cassette in 2018. Heavily based on synths and keyboards and clocking in on no less than close 70 minutes over 4 LP-sides, this is arguably THE epic album from the cluster around the Förlag För Fri Musik empire. Gustaf Dickssons' fascination for christianity/religious assemblies shines through once again, the title Livets Ord ("The word of life") derived from the Swedish free church/sect with the same name that was based in Uppsala between 1983-2013 and casting a pastoral shadow over the ambient music of the album. While dabbling with a long tradition of kosmische musik and private-pressed new age wonders, Blods now patented sound of a Björn Isfält-gone-sour still lingers throughout the entire recording. A cornerstone in contemporary Gothenburg underground music. Featuring guest appearances by Emelie Thulin and Jerker Jarold. Truly beautiful stuff, especially the 22min closer 'Ute Blaser Sommarvind' which has a wistful, life-affirming quality to it.
  18. https://kmru.bandcamp.com/album/peel One of the most compelling ambient albums I have heard in a LONG time. Despite his ambiance, KMRU has a style that is all his own. Very special.
