I've wanted to do this thread for a while. Drone music has many faces, but often hard to find. I've never read anything in this forum about it, except for an old thread where the discussion was more focused into explaining the difference between ambient and drone instead of sharing rare and astonishing drone pieces. Would be great if this thread turned into a nice thing worthy of his pretentious title! I'll start showing what I mean with awesome drone music (in different styles) Classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMfGLNrLvGA (sublime) Less classic: http

Picked this up this week. New band for me, although they were active back in the last decade and broke up in 2008. This music is emotionally crushing - maybe not the sound you want to hear in current times. Still amazing. Boomkat describe it best. https://boomkat.com/products/going-places-390db797-a1cb-433d-ac4a-63aeb8652548

Seefeel founding member Mark Clifford releases an EP of scraping, singing guitar tone experiments today on ‘Playback EP’! Some fascinating textures and novel wrangling of harmonics for those who like to hear ostensibly familiar sounds from an oblique angle. Buy/Stream here: https://markclifford.bandcamp.com/album/playback-ep A video for the first track ‘Blue-Fi I: “The basic tracks for ‘Playback’ were recorded 15 years ago during a four hour session at Playback Studios in Brighton, and with a resident engineer more accustomed to recording Eastern European orchestr

So, so happy this finally has a digital release. Low-key synth & keyboard studio album by Swedish all-rounder Gustaf Dicksson. Limited edition of 300 copies with insert. From the early days of the found-sounds recordings (like the downright scary Unga Röster album and the hilarious Mandys Bil 7"), the homespun kitchen recordings/tape collages of the still-going Idiotmusik series to the more carefully elaborated and precise Leendet Från Helvetet and Knutna Nävar albums, the massive Livets Ord dropped like a bomb when it originally surfaced as a self-released cassette in 2018.

Boomkat: Limited to 100 copies. Volume 4 is perhaps the most unsettling and uncanny in the series so far, mirroring the latter stages of The Caretaker’s ‘Everywhere At The End Of Time’ series with what sounds like a trace echo of disembodied choral voices floating in and out of field recordings and found sounds coalescing in ghostly formation. As per usual, we’re not gonna attempt to guess any of the included material, except to say that to us it sounds like deepest drone, concrète and sound art deployed at an almost imperceptible BPM, with diffused obscurities merging into fole

Thanks to @joshuatxuk for this excellent heads-up. Originally released on limited edition cassette for BEER ON THE RUG in 2015. track 19 is an added bonus track from Catalog sessions not on original release This will go some way to keeping fans of Sweden's Axel Backman (1991) happy. This is misty-eyed ambient and new age nostalgia, catatonic, detuned idents and pre-internet graphical demo attract sequences. It's absolutely lovely.

i have decided this morning that it is time i finally put together a band. a band that will blow minds. i have a vision, but it is blurry as of yet. some background: recently i played fretless bass on halloween doing a goth miley cyrus cover thing. i was actually amazed how cool it sounded to play fretless with overdrive and reverb and it actually turned out amazing and the chemistry between me and the guitar player was good. he does like drone shit but he's generally versatile. a bit too much of a stoner at times but not retarded level. either way, i found the experience of playing in a
