  1. New Simon Scott album coming 20th of January 2023. A site study of the nature reserves that formed the basis of his 2012 album, Below Sea Level, on 12k. Ioved both the album and accompanying book. Very much looking forward to this.
  2. ▶︎ epoch | KMRU (bandcamp.com) new album from KMRU and might be the first of his i'll dig in on. he's been getting a lot of buzz for a year or two (or more?) but never been my speed. this one is really sounding unique and nice on my initial impressions just breezing through. cassette available too.
  3. La Linea Negra is an independent project exposing through a sonic journey the encounter with a native Aruachos family in the area of Santa Marta, in the Sierra Nevada.Routine days spent surrounded by the mountains of the Colombian Department of Magdalena as special guests of a warm and friendly family who decided to share their customs, culture and ancestral knowledge with us, their "younger brothers" ...This project aims to present a personal vision of the natural soundscape of this place and of those living there.A place that today, along with the Amazon forest, constitutes one of the most complex and important ecosystems on a global scale in terms of biodiversity and natural resources.Field-recording and sound design can be regarded, in this case, as a personal contribution to a wider socio-cultural action. The echo of the forest, birds’ chirping, the spring of water with its branching courses, the systematic and punctual insects’ conversations, the tribal rhythms of the drums, the fuss in the hut along with the dark and lilting voice of the Mamo, these are all fleeting impulses of a landscape which has no accurate spatiotemporal connotation but that constantly refers to our primordial origins. On the one hand, the aim is to create a deep immersion in these territories through a real practice of deep listening implying a high level of attention to the innermost details of sound. On the other hand, this is the call for an unconditional act of listening that can somehow induce the listener through subtle reminiscences to a more personal interpretation of the landscape. Ab Uno shapes sonic material through recording, editing, and recombination of sound objects and acoustic elements carved into physical and cultural landscapes, in the voices of the wind or the unheard tales of tribal communities. Recorded in the sacred territory of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. Dedicated to the native tribe of Arhuaco. Part of the proceeds from this release will be devolved to support the family that hosted us making it possible to realize this work.
  4. https://kmru.bandcamp.com/album/peel One of the most compelling ambient albums I have heard in a LONG time. Despite his ambiance, KMRU has a style that is all his own. Very special.
  5. Imagine being able to live forever in a small, warm, intimate home. A mental space, a haiku. Imagine feeling the walls of this environment, gently touching them with your fingertips, savoring the essence of its thousand past inhabitants. Now you’re in charge, a humble guardian of the secrets of this peaceful environment. A domestic place, close but at the same time unknown and nostalgic. You are the keeper of this small house, of this mental space forever. We need to return to an intimate and thoughtful listening. We deeply need a spiritual rebirth, a self-medication. We must go back to being the only explorers of our deepest essence. Now you’re in this warm and small space, lost in a forest of paper and smoke. These three improvisations have been deliberately recorded with worn out equipment: a tiny sampler, a Korg Poly 800, burned and rigorously in mono, a small hand recorder. Rosalegno was recorded directly on a 50-year-old TAYA, where you can hear the decadence of the tape towards the second half of the song and where the wobbling becomes more intense, reminding of a cry.The album is a tribute to the so called New Age on cassette era, to those old Harmony tapes that accompanied the childhood of some of us. There is a need to revive that self-discovery, knowing how to isolate oneself and believe in what makes us feel really good. That is why the tape version of the album L’abbaglio was multiplied or actually recycled, on old 90's tape albums, so the whole nostalgic feeling, hauntology concept and cassette tribute cycle is complete. We are the keepers of our mind, forever. Carlo Giustini is a field recordings, tape manipulator, sound researcher and experimental musician based in Treviso, Italy. His music combines field recordings, warm organic drones and deep haunted sounds caught with contact microphones on micro-cassette recorders and other old audio gear. His previous albums released on the labels Lontano, Shummering Moods, ACR, Purlieu, No Rent and Bad Cake Records, attracted huge attention between the ambient music community.

  8. First in a series of releases under my ambient moniker... [bandcamp<iframe style="border: 0; width: 350px; height: 470px;" src="https://bandcamp.com/EmbeddedPlayer/album=879126207/size=large/bgcol=333333/linkcol=ffffff/tracklist=false/transparent=true/" seamless><a href="http://thelastambienthero.bandcamp.com/album/delamere">Delamere by The Last Ambient Hero</a></iframe>] Based around field recordings made during a day trip to Delamere Forest in April 2017. From the walk to the station, the train ride, to entering the forest and beyond into nightfall... I hope you enjoy listening to this journey as much as I enjoyed making it. Released December 25, 2017 Written & produced by The Last Ambient Hero. Created using Doepfer & Future Retro sequencers and a couple of my favourite synths. Thanks to Lucy and Steve.

  11. I Love it when you get an insight to work on a piece of music you started years ago and actually make it listenable in the form of a track. Organic Strawberry/Pear/Apple/Banana smoothie + High Grade = Natural Focused Creative Expression. :) Started this originally in 2012 and I just had an insight to work on it (on impulse) and It flowed through me easily. I will probably add to it further when the time is right. It's been quite a while since I uploaded anything, this is just a lil taster. I have more music currently in progress that I've been busy working at for these last few months! Oh and I have sampled and used my own RECORDINGS of rain, wind and BIRD CALLS from around my own garden/around the woods! I just had to record them when I heard how Cool the birdcalls sounded... Thanks for listening and any feedback is welcome... https://soundcloud.com/lucid-vibes/strawberry-dreamvivid Cheers y'all :D
  12. Hi guys, I remember reading a while ago on here about some compilation centred around tracks featuring field recordings. I just remembered today this great site for a London sounds library. I heard some at a gig and they were great. http://www.soundsurvey.org.uk/ enjoy!
  13. Long awaited 2CD from an unsung hero of contemporary experimental music is finally out. I think there might be a few takers for this on WATMM. Copy pasting one of the most on-point album descriptions I've read all year: Buy: http://www.23five.org/publications/gpark_sub.html Listen: https://soundcloud.com/23five/g-park-stack-from-the-2cd-sub Watch: https://vimeo.com/60370355
  14. it has been noted elsewhere on the intertubes that, in kiev amongst other places recently, there are recordings of strange ambient (meaning of no specific ascertainable source) noises which occurred immediately prior to or subsequent to some recent earthquakes around the globe. here's a youtube clip of the event in kiev. i'm wondering if there are high fidelity recordings of these occurrences anywhere ,hopefully!? /kinda drunk
