  1. Really amazing group of artists in collaboration and/or remixing one another. Purchase benefits a good cause. Im excited to give it a listen and report back on my favorites https://crxssings.bandcamp.com/releases "All the funds generated by the sales of this album will be donated directly to City Plaza Hotel, a squatted refuge located in the heart of Athens, Greece, organized for and by migrants from Africa and Asia. These funds will support their struggle to provide material needs for those fleeing economic, environmental, political and military disasters in their home countries. At City Plaza Hotel residents work together in ways that center their own agency, dignity and solidarity with each other. This compilation in no way claims to represent the voices of refugees and migrants, nor does it represent the scores of incredible musicians from the Middle East, North Africa or Central America whose communities are being disrupted by mass migration. Rather, the artists participating in this compilation recognize that their lives and art have benefitted from the relative ease with which they are able to move across borders, performing for international audiences and developing relationships across cultures. Some of the artists involved are the children of immigrants, or have their own experiences of migration and relocation. All of them share a belief in a basic freedom of movement and stand in solidarity with those migrants and refugees who are struggling to make a better life for their families and themselves. "
  2. Oops, hit post before pasting the title in the topic header. Could a kindly mod please add We, so tired of all the darkness in our livesThanks Noice! We have an unexpected Leyland Kirby release, available for free :) https://leylandkirby.bandcamp.com/album/we-so-tired-of-all-the-darkness-in-our-lives "28th of September, 2017. ----------------------- These days it feels like it's at an all time low for positive outcomes. The music here is free for you to download or to pay for. It's your call. It's not free because I place no value on this work. It's free because I mean it. It shows a slightly different side and production value to previously released works. These are the tracks I've personally revisited most in the past four or five years. They have all helped me out. I'd like to think you don't see this as throwaway work. It's been collated carefully. Production wise I think it's more in focus and it gives some indications to early influences. It goes somewhere, it goes nowhere, there are drawn out synths, drums, piano and drift. It's about the fact that not everything need be angry, distorted or bombastic to show defiance. It's every bar stool I've sat on and am yet to sit on. It's me throwing myself down stairs again and again because I'm as sick of things as you are. If it's not released now then this work just sits on a drive for even longer gathering digital dust which I feel is a shame. Maybe you will find some solace in the sounds if your mood is right or you need them. Maybe one track hits home, maybe more do. Hopefully it can help here and there. I still greatly believe in the value of music and of true independent music. This is in spite of the constant devaluing of music by big business and streaming services. I'm not creating work to help push cans of energy drink or to look for cheap clicks on playlists or to get involved in scenes. The bottom line here is if you have no coin right now then this one is on me with pleasure. If you can support the work then this is great too. It's always a lot of hard work and a dream. I've been hard at it lately with The Caretaker work so now I afford myself a night out finally sinking the odd whisky or two down at my favourite Krakow bar, Propaganda. It's been a good while since the last time. I'll raise the whisky glass in there for us all. You know the score. JLK xx " Something to whet our appetites for stage 3
  3. evening all, 🤵🏻 those who follow me on social media may have caught wind of this already, but I've taken it upon myself to curate a [what is now shaping up to be a massive] tribute album to Leyland Kirby in regards to his Caretaker project - I've already received an upwards of 30 quality submissions in a matter of a week - at this point, I'm thinking I'll cut it off at 72 tracks as a nod to Theoretically pure anterograde amnesia - figured now is the time to open up submissions to watmm artists. for those interested in contributing -- tracks would need to fall in line with the style of the Caretaker material (i.e. haunted ballroom music, dark ambient drones, noise, subdued sampling of 1920's and 1930's jazz, orchestral, and big band music - original compositions are welcome, as is any "Shining" fanfare (as long as it's not too 'disruptive'). track length should preferably not exceed 10 minutes - no intentional remixes of existing Caretaker tracks, no trap beats (you wouldn't think I'd have to say that, but seeing as how I received 3 already), i'd also suggest steering clear of sampling "Midnight, The Stars, And You" - email submissions (.wav) to [email protected] - general inquiries can be addressed there as well. the loose deadline for now is August, might possibly release it in October, or at least some time after Stage 3 of Everywhere At The End Of Time has soaked in a bit - this should give everyone ample time to turn in tracks - right now I'm thinking this will be released via a one-off bandcamp page, sold digitally - that's not to say arrangements won't be made with a label, if it's a deemed a worthy venture (physical run, etc). in the spirit of the subject matter, all digital proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association, which aims to advance research, and enhance care for those living with Alzheimer's and dementia. hope to hear from some of you! regards, Alex / Nmesh
