  1. I think this video represents the void we all try to fill and the uncertainty of fulfillment in our society and how we're all waiting for something that may or may not come along, ..." WATMM, what are you waiting for? Do you think Huell will ever get what he's waiting for?...
  2. Been a long time since I've posted here, but I'm happy to be back. At the moment, I'm looking for a bit of help: A few weeks ago I heard what seemed, at first, to be an Internet rumor/ghost story about a kid in Detroit who documented his suicide on Instagram. Sadly enough, it turned out to be true, and I was surprised to find out that he was a young music producer. He had a Twitter account (https://twitter.com/djkillbill313), an Instagram account (http://www.pikore.com/djkillbill313), and at least one Soundcloud page (https://soundcloud.com/djkillbillprod), possibly two (https://soundcloud.com/djkillbill313). His name was Billy Watts, and he changed the header/description on his Instagram profile prior to his suicide to read "If you are wondering or even disappointed.... Just click the link below. Enjoy your life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D86ArQDvWSY" The YouTube link brings you to the final album he created, which is an instrumental hip-hop piece entitled ".Nothing." I've listened to the beginning, and I like it a lot. I also mostly tend to listen to music when I'm taking walks outside, and so I'd really like to get a high quality copy of the album that I can stick into iTunes and transfer to my mp3 player. My hope was that he left a link for a download somewhere as well, but I haven't been able to find any. Basically, I'm hoping someone out there might be familiar with this young man and his work (his real name is Billy Watts), and have access to a high quality copy of the .Nothing. album - or maybe there's at least someone out there a bit more versed with hunting down .rar downloads, and can ensure that a .rar/zip of the album isn't actually a virus that some piece of crap stuck in there to try and take advantage of those familiar with the story. Barring those options, I'd also be interested in learning a way to copy the album directly from YouTube, in as high quality as possible. I've heard of and used some programs to copy a track or two in the past, but it's been awhile, and I'm hoping someone is familiar with an effective version. Anyway, that's the gist of the situation - any help is greatly appreciated. I'm also always into discussing and learning about new instrumental/instrumental hip-hop/electronic-type albums as well, so if this branches into a discussion involving similar types of music, I'd be happy as well (from what I've heard, the album reminds me a bit of some of DJ Signify's work - but still, I'm really interested in listening to the rest, closely).
  3. I know in my life I've had real friends; steadfast iron statues of men that I could always, even years later, come back to, always finding that we had both changed; yet simultaneously, making us equals in absence. This is true friendship. Tell me, what have you all (pluraL) known of friendship?
  4. So I went to my Aunt's funeral the other day and it opened my eyes quite a bit. I had always thought of my aunt as a kind of crazy person who I wanted to keep my distance from. She was always nice and ALWAYS quick to hug, but it was what seemed to me an over niceness and, again, a little crazy. My whole immediate family felt this way and also a good bit of my extended family. So I'm at her funeral and first of all they are playing Beatles songs which is already such a huge change from the typical hymnal, stuffy religious songs I usually hear at funerals (I have been to alot of funerals). The atmosphere is already loose instead of obligatorily somber. Then the people get up to talk about her. Every single person talks about how she loved everyone like family. She had driven to Minnesota to pack up her sister and her four kids to come live with her in Texas (making their 3 bedroom 4 person house a 9 person household!), she had helped a boy who was homeless and jobless get back on his feet to the point where he eventually married her daughter. She had influenced her niece to sign up for the army which turned out to be a hugely helpful and wonderful thing for her. She had introduced a woman to a man that became that woman's husband after she had sworn off dating. She actually changed people's lives and touched them. The funeral home was mostly full of people who she worked with. There were a ton of people that worked with her there! I was struck with how different we perceive people. I liked her and cared about her, but these people loved her and were so mournful of her passing because of the differences she made in their lives. I feel like I judged my aunt unfairly and this caused me to keep my distance while these other people truly relished her existence. I hope this sticks with me and helps me truly accept people more instead of judging appearances of their status in this monetary achievement driven society. I tend to respect and look up to people I feel have achieved a certain kind of status or salary when there are so many other avenues to be successful. My aunt would have loved her funeral.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOCD_T9Qqpc Fascinating vid to say the least. Basically what can fairly be called a mob of pro choice protesters surrounded an Argentinean cathedral and tried to access it but were thwarted by a bunch of catholic men, mostly young. In fact, everyone in the video appears under 30, which I would expect of the feminists but it's odd that most of the catholics seem 20's or younger. Oh, and many of the feminists were topless. I posted the sort of SFW version here.
  6. This morning I woke up completely alone in a one-room 1960s Soviet-style apartment in a post-industrial city in Latvia 4016 miles from my nearest friends and family and this was the view from the front window: This got me wondering, what has been the most IDM moment of your life so far?

    It's Summer...

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. summer classes, work, and trying to enjoy the summer with my friends have all kept me occupied. I've been writing new tracks, and meeting a lot of new people that love electronic music, both far and abroad. This place has definitely been a big component of that, but I've also started meeting quite a few new local people. This has led to some collaborations, and jams with new people which is always interesting. Getting some new input on the things you're doing are seeing it from a different angle can really open your eyes to why you started doing something in the first place. Over-all it's been a really great summer so far. I'm still sending some demos out, and I've had a few good replies, so I'm hoping some good things are in the future. In the mean time, here are some releases from fellow WATMM'ers and friends: About Turn by Acidburp: This is a great little 4 track EP just released by Acidburp. There is a narrative, which is mainly about malevolent trans-dimensional cats, but also alien love, and faulty robots." Download the album That's all for now. I doubt I'll make another post before the fall semester starts. I leave for a 2 week fieldcamp in the beginning of August so expect many pictures of the mountains and scenery from Colorado, Utah, and Yellowstone Park in Wyoming when I return. Hope everyone else's summer is going as well as mine.
