Creating simple but effective basslines and pads as the main elements. Audio signal processing is important to create the vibe of this song. We use send effects and sidechain on reverb to create a cool backdrop to the track, we then add some percussion to fill the space and build the groove.

Basically I want to play guitar with various automated effects added (as I can't be arsed using midi footpedals etc) over a backing track, but can't do it in Mainstage as it can't handle automation. I could theoretically do it Logic though. Has anyone used Logic 9 for gigs or live situations? Conventional wisdom is to use Mainstage in these scenarios as it's more stable and less likely to crash - but the chances of Logic crashing on my MacBook Pro seem pretty slim if I'm only using it to playback one track and another with about 3 effects on the armed channel. SO I'm a logic dood, and I've been getting really tired of the crashy crack that i have. I'm looking in to buying it, and apparently it's either Logic Express, or Logic Studio. Looks like Studio has like 79283 shitty little things I'd never use, and is 500 bucks. Express is 200. Does any one have any advice about which to go for? I'm leaning towards Express, as I really don't need to have a half million apple loopz, or thirty thousand sampler instruments. lulz.
