  3. was trying to find some posts somebody did a while ago about the crowdfunding they did because Mats needed an urgent hearing treatment... btw did any wattmer backed up this kickstarter? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/804823372/morgan-agren-mats-oberg-cds-dvds-urgent-hearing-tr no luck, i thought it was in one of the Zappa threads but i just can't find it... anyway these guys don't have their own thread and surely they deserve it so here it is... they have a new website and every order is free shipping worldwide, which is a pretty fucking cool thing to do... although i'm having a
  4. One of my favorite musicians - Fenriz of Darkthrone - has a newish website and associated FB page where he posts his personal "best of" finds of obscure and rare metal bands. Besides being a legend within the black metal community, and easily the most rational and humble of the innovators, he's a avid music listener. He works as a mail sorter (both he and Darkthrone member Nocturno Culto refuse to give up their day jobs or tour for money) and listens to something like 10 hours of music a day, including stuff he rips off demo cassettes and other analog formats, and now he's recommendin

  7. When I was 13-14, I used to make instrumental industrial rock/metal on a 4 track cassette recorder. My main instruments were the Yamaha PSS 680 Music Station (keyboard) and my guitar/fx pedals. This project was called Machine. I recently digitized these tapes (along with everything else I ever recorded before going digital), and found that I still really liked most of it. So I decided to master a few of my favorites from this collection and release them as an album. 13 year old me would be very happy. Put 0 as the amount for a free download: https://machine1994.bandcamp.com/releases

  9. Hi, For some time I've been looking for some good metal/doom/sludge, whatever bands that don't have the commonly termed "cringe-worthy" vocals that kind of kill the whole presentation. I'm open to bands without vocals completely (old Earth), and I am familiar with some of the classics that do have nice vocals (Electric Wizard, Sleep), but I'm looking for something either new or bands I haven't heard of before, which I'm sure is obvious by the thread title... I know I've made a thread seeking the same sort of music without vocals, so maybe this can focus on bands and albums that peo
  10. https://spectrallore.bandcamp.com The new album from this Greek band popped up in my e-mail this morning, and I thought some of you guys would be into it. Some really nice synth stuff reminiscint 36 or the last WITTR LP.
  11. Devin Townsend's double album project Z2 is up for pre-order! Can't believe there isn't a thread for this yet... "Transcending the boundaries of conventional music releases once again, the newest album by the Devin Townsend Project is a double studio album available also as deluxe 3CD digipak with special artwork in embossed silver-foil slipcase and stunning 4LP+2CD box. On “Z²” you can enjoy a massive double-album battle between the textured lushness of DTP's 'Sky Blue' and the orchestral bombast of the Ziltoidian 'Dark Matters'. “Z²” features the Universal Choir - 2000 audio files of
  12. These guys are playing at a local venue this Friday so i listened to there newest album Stone Tools. Really surprised at how good this is! One of the heaviest releases I've heard this year. Just wanted more people to know about them. If your a fan of Desert Rock or Doom, you should definitely check this out http://younghunter.bandcamp.com/album/stone-tools
  13. Hello... Here's a free, 4-track EP. Released Sunday. First three tracks were successfully used to get attention at Philadelphia Laptop Battles. Last track, "Her Heart," is a remix of Double's 1986 single, "The Captain Of Her Heart." http://batona.bandcamp.com/album/my-property Plus a video of Her Heart:
  14. It's been a few years since I listened to him, but I put a few albums on last night. Anybody familiar with his music? Too gimmicky? It is kinda funeraldoom-y, but it's so minimal and sparse that I can't even judge it by metal standards.
  15. Man gets sick benefits for heavy metal addiction A Swedish heavy metal fan has had his musical preferences officially classified as a disability. The results of a psychological analysis enable the metal lover to supplement his income with state benefits. link
