Seefeel founding member Mark Clifford releases an EP of scraping, singing guitar tone experiments today on ‘Playback EP’! Some fascinating textures and novel wrangling of harmonics for those who like to hear ostensibly familiar sounds from an oblique angle. Buy/Stream here: https://markclifford.bandcamp.com/album/playback-ep A video for the first track ‘Blue-Fi I: “The basic tracks for ‘Playback’ were recorded 15 years ago during a four hour session at Playback Studios in Brighton, and with a resident engineer more accustomed to recording Eastern European orchestras than experimental guitar music. It was a time in my life when I needed to break some emotional glass and the intensity of the sound in the studio succeeded in doing that. Over the following weeks I played around with the stems at home largely using a GRM Tools plugin. The tracks were kind of shelved with the intention of eventually finishing them as an album but this was never fully realised.”

New album on Kranky from this artist based in New Orleans. Sort of mix between Liz Frasier's ethereal vocals and the churning guitar noise from Kevin Shields. Not as pretty as the 'tinsel fairy light' world the Scottish trio inhabit. This is a bit darker. Recommended.

this is probably one of my favorite record labels today. there's such variety in their releases and they are consistently solid. check out some of the music below! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1UdxKxaRto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPO5TQkHK9c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSw4-gK2UME http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AvDiYDMRz8 (wife. hasn't released anything yet, but he just got signed and it's quite exciting based on his previous material) http://tri-anglerecords.com/

Tegan Northwood is an Australian singer/songwriter/producer. I first heard her track 'Close' on Pandora a few years back and was impressed: I proceeded to find and purchase the album it came from, 'Self-Raising Flower', a striking mixture of shoegaze, dreampop, ambient and IDMesque elements: https://endgamerecords.bandcamp.com/album/self-raising-flower She released another LP in 2008 called 'Last Days of Home' https://endgamerecords.bandcamp.com/album/last-days-of-home ... And now, today Tegan's released a new EP of tracks called 'Wherever You Are'. Some of you may dig this, highly recommended for fans of Cocteau Twins, Lush, Washed Out, Seefeel, etc: Link to new EP: https://tegannorthwood.bandcamp.com/

I was obsessed with this group's EP Chamber Dreams from some years back, really good dream pop in the vein of Cocteau Twins / early 90s moody dream pop. They have an LP coming out now, little more upbeat but still digging the vocals and production a lot. Bandcamp second video is a bit silly but the music is still excellent

Hey guys, My name is Peter, I'm 26, and I've been a member of the forum for about a year now. I make stuff under the name Nautical Operator, and I'm in the middle of making an album. I just finished this song which I hope to release as a single soon, and I was hoping to get some honest feedback on it. I recorded it in my bedroom by myself using Logic Pro as a DAW. It's not quite electronic music (not the beginning at least), but its very inspired by it. Like I mentioned in the title, I'm mainly influenced by Boards of Canada, Plaid, Tycho, and Porcupine Tree - but also Aphex Twin, Beck, Air, Zero 7 and more. Please let me know what you think! Thanks -Peter

This is a newer label that I am going to be working with in the future. Check out what they have released thus far. Give them money if you want to. The new Xander Harris and Eyes, Wings, and Many Other Things releases are dope. http://www.pourlecorpsrecords.com/ http://pourlecorpsrecords.bandcamp.com/

everyone knows that listening to a rock concert from a mile away is the best music ever, so this trio featuring liz harris of grouper is (apparently beginning to) making this kind of music: i always wanted this from grouper since hearing this cover of hers: apparently she did so too. yay !

I've been binging on Cocteau Twins' entire catalog for the past two days. I know there is love for them here but not in the form of a thread like this so far as I could tell. Their discography is a towering achievement; a traceable, single-minded effort toward perfecting an aesthetic that was initially discovered accidentally (Guthrie has said that he originally employed the trademark guitar effects to mask his initially poor playing). I enjoy going through chronologically... They started off sounding like Siouxsie influenced post-punk... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtXJ3SYXPC8 They started experimenting more with textures and aural aesthetics as they grew more comfortable with their gear and each other... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmZfR6dEXhM One of my favorite attributes of the group are Fraser's garbled, glossolalic lyrics which were never meant to come across literally to the listener; a deeply sincere emotional expulsion... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo7TBGn4R8U They moved into slightly more accessible sonic territory while maintaining their idiosyncrasies... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkyzHsCT5zc And they ultimately went on to perfect their sound... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adp8-YxMwIA Then they almost completely disappeared in 1997. There was to be a reunion tour back in 2005 but it was cancelled shortly before it was slated to commence... If there were a reformation I'm really not sure how or if they could top their previous body of work.

Forthcoming 2CD compilation of remixes and rarities from the last seven years entitled "Memory and Matter". It will be released on October 7 on Darla Records. Disc 1 collects the finest cuts in the warm, blissed-out, shoegazy style - including this piece which was originally released on a super limited split EP with Orange Crush - whereas disc 2 is entirely comprised of much darker, more abstract and minimal pieces similar to Confluence. Lush as fuck.

01 Swamp Bike 02 Night Bus 03 Plastic Swamp Log http://attacknine.bandcamp.com/album/swamp-bike Pay what you want and pass it around! This is a free single to provide a taste of what is to come in a few months at Attacknine. Some of you may remember the title cut from the Highschool Guitar EP (only a few copies of the clear 12" vinyl are still available here), and Night Bus was previously an iTunes-only exclusive track and now freed from its digital chains. Plastic Swamp Log is a newer recording, written specifically for this single, and features an eight-minute psychedelic reimagining of Swamp Bike with some new changes and vocals as well. Bonus points for some of the additional guitar overdubs on PSL being played by WATMM's own leafs! This is also only the second time I've recorded vocals for something, the first instance being Didn't Sleep At All on the Children Of The Hill 2x7" split with Orick (also still available on lovely vinyl here). Also, there is a mind-melting video for Swamp Bike. HD and full-screen is recommended for this one! [youtubehd]Wvqgicw7Lsk[/youtubehd] You can download the uncompressed high-definition video here: http://t.opsp.in/a19h9 So yeah, hope everyone digs this. I'm really excited to start releasing the stuff I've been working on for Attacknine for years now. More to come!

The latest album from my solo dreampop/IDM project Public Transport, influenced by dream pop groups like Lush and more ambient artists like BoC and Ulrich Schnauss. http://soundcloud.com/public-transport/sets/seawall/ (Somehow, it's only embedding the first track in the set.) Produced with FL Studio, Green Oak's Crystal synth, and a sample collection I've been amassing since about 2003. I'm pretty pleased with how good FL is at routing effects!
