Synth-drift maestro Oneohtrix Point Never will release a brand new studio album on November 5. Entitled Replica, it’s the follow-up to 2010′s Returnal, and will be released on Software, the Mexican Summer sub-label curated by Oneohtrix, real name Dan Lopatin, and Joel Ford. A press release describes the album, which was recorded in Mexican Summer’s studio, as “an electronic song cycle based around lo-fi audio procured from television advertisement compilations”. The cover art is pictured above. Tracklist: 1. Andro 2. Sleep Dealer 3. Power of Persuasion 4. Remember 5. Replica 6. Nassau 7. Submersible 8. Up 9. Child Soldier 10. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/394188952/2020-the-semi-modular-beat-machine And some heavily edited video: Basically I'm very interested in this, but not sure it's worth the investment for what I might get out of it. Seen a few reviews popping up in the weeks since I first saw it, but none of them really have any more information on actual real time usage or live demos; all we're shown is the video above and some links to performances where it's assumed a version of the software was used. I'm quite sure this guy isn't blowing smoke, but I'm also not sure how useful/good this will actually be once it's complete.

Okay here we go: Akira Rabelais has released several albums in the time of glitch and microsound and developed a great freeware software with a truly enigmatic interface. You can get it here: http://akirarabelais...e/software.html Scanner and Terre Thaemlitz also used it a lot in their own music. It's hard to describe what you can do with the App but it can create a very uncommon bunch of sound with some simple rules. Has somebody also worked with the Argeïphontes Lyre software and can tell me what I can use for parameters to get good results? I have used the software a lot but I would like to share experience with other users too.
