  4. Tally Ho! Sharing this good news here for you fine folk.. Legendary UK electronic music producer, Luke Vibert delivers a special batch of four new tracks for the USA label, People of Rhythm Records in celebrate the label’s re-launch and new release, Vibert’s “Turn” Mini-EP. Released on limited color vinyl and digital on May 25, 2018. Pre-orders and preview track “Turn” now live. Luke Vibert will also DJ a handful of USA dates in August 2018 to support release. Prolific music producer Luke Vibert and his many successful aliases, including Wagon Christ, Plug, Amen Andrews, Kerrier District, The Ace of Clubs, Moog Acid and Spac Hand Luke have become fixtures of dance floors and electronic music fans worldwide. Luke has been releasing innovative electronic music on iconic record labels since first being signed by his old schoolmate and Cornwall friend, Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) for his own Rephlex Records label. Luke has since released scores of music on Mo’ Wax, Ninja Tune, Rising High, Warp, Astralwerks, Lo Recordings, I Love Acid Records, Universal, Trent Reznor’s Nothing Records in addition to mainstay labels Planet Mu and Hypercolour. Each release to critical acclaim. Luke’s new mini-ep for People of Rhythm Records he drops four new songs in Luke’s classic “Wagon Christ” alias form. ‘Throw your heads up’ funky crate digging breaks, lush french horn anthems, Indian scat jazz samples, moog freakout sounds by the late Jean Jacques Perrey, classic hip hop loops and downtempo sci-fi experiments. The “Turn” release, long in the making, had been talked over and kicked around for years between People of Rhythm chief, Brian Keigher (aka DJ Warp) and his old mate Luke Vibert. The two first met when they were both booked to perform in Chicago for Noisepop Festival 2001 and have since played a handful of additional gigs together. On a recent trip to London, Keigher solidified the special release. Coming back with a handful of new Vibert material to sift through for the label’s long awaited third release. After artist and production costs, all funding raised from the “Turn” EP will go towards Vibert’s visa costs to tour the U.S.A. for the first time in many years for a handful of DJ dates in Chicago, Northern WI, San Francisco, NYC and more to be announced for August. Additional exclusive Luke Vibert limited merchandise including t-shirts, stickers and even new music will also be available to support these touring efforts for 2018. People of Rhythm Records is proud to presents, Luke Vibert: “Turn” mini-EP released on limited maroon color, 7” vinyl pressing of 1000 copies and digital formats. Track listing includes “Turn”, “JJP” (featuring and dedicated to Luke’s old friend, and Moog Acid collaborator, synth maestro Jean Jacques Perrey), “Juice”, and “BM”. Based in the USA, People of Rhythm previous releases include legendary midwest electronic music producer Freddy Fresh, aka Modulator (POR001), released on blue vinyl and Minneapolis techno wizard, Paul Birken (POR002), released on red vinyl. 6. I started working on some new Lemon Melon tracks after taking a 15 year break, I used to release music on MP3.com back when I was between 11-15 years old, and I've painstakingly uploaded all 200-odd tracks I made 1999-2002 onto bandcamp, and these are the "comeback" track of sorts: [] [/][] [/][] [/][] [/][] [/][] [/] If you like some of u-ziq or Wagon Christ's samplier moments, are old enough to remember Freddy Fresh, Fatboy Slim, Bentley Rhythm Ace or Lemon Jelly, you'll remember Big-Beat music. It had a few forms, Prodigy and Chem Bros probably did the harder, darker side of bigbeat, but others like The Wiseguys and Loop Da Loop just wanted to have fun. I'm coining the term "dotBizbeat" to refer to the slightly dodgier style that evolved post-"For Your Ears Only" when people started using low-quality DAWs on family computers (whilst at the same time registering cheap .biz domains for themselves) to make crap Big-Beat by taking cover disc samples and fucking with them. I'll be having fun with trying some of those for an accompanying EP, but Lemon Law is aiming to hopefully be closer to the second-wave of post-"You've Come A Long Way, Baby"-mania that took the late-90s radio for hostage. For everything I did back in 1999-2002, check http://LemonMelon.bandcamp.com

  8. Saw that this was in the making a while back, it's out now :) http://www.thevinylfactory.com/vinyl-factory-films/the-record-sweep-watch-luke-vibert-try-and-spend-100-on-vinyl-in-10-minutes/ "too new, too new, don't like new records" Interesting picks imo, his influences seem to have changed a lot (I was expecting more stuff to sample from, soundtracks / library stuff /jazz / fusion / whatever), you can clearly hear it in his 2014 sets too.
  9. Just found an interview from last summer with the label boss of Hypercolour, Jamie Russel. When asked what is on the horizon he said this: TM: So what’s on the horizon? JR: We’ve got amazing releases coming from some legends of the scene. We’ve just done an album with Luke Vibert and we’re following that up later this year with a new Kerrier District album which is in and it sounds amazing. Source: http://www.themetropolist.com/music/latest-news/label-me-jamie-russell-hypercolour-records/ I'm hyped as hell about this! We've got the Amen Andrews EP upcoming on Blueberry, more EP's on Hypercolour and Luke also mentioned a new Planet Mu album and another Wagon Christ album somewhere in the future too, so it's absolutely going to be a great time! http://youtu.be/J_94VxJmvkk
  10. Well well well, it has been 20 years already. In 1993 Luke Vibert debuted with the album "Weirs" (w/ Simmonds). So it's time to reminisce and celebrate. For everybody who missed the mix in the mix section:
  11. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Luke Vibert's debut album "Weirs" (together with Simmonds) here comes a nice selection of his brilliant works ranging from the Instrumental HipHop and New Acid House as Luke Vibert, the sweet cheesiness of Wagon Christ, different takes on Drum & Bass as Plug and Amen Andrews, Disco House as The Ace Of Clubs as well as the grimey darkness as Amen Andrews vs. Spac Hand Luke. Enjoy
