Good news is Ethereum is gradually moving to proof of stake

They’ve been moving to proof of stake for about 5 years now.

i'm probably confusing some of the finer points here but i thought NFT couldn't exist w/o crypto currency technology?

I think you're right about that part. without crypto, no NFT's

I mean with that, it’s just scammers using available tools. Crypto currencies are still useless though.

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/04/nfts-werent-supposed-end-like/618488/

from one of the people who came up with the first working form of NFTs:

Quote

After a decade of whiplash-inducing changes in valuation, billions of dollars are now invested in cryptocurrencies, and the people who have made those bets can’t cash in their chips anywhere. They can’t buy real estate with cryptocurrency. They can’t buy yachts with it. So the only rich-person hobby they can partake in with their cryptowealth is buying art. And in this art market, no one is obligated to have any taste or judgment about art itself. If NFT prices suddenly plunge, these investors will try buying polo horses or Davos tickets with cryptocurrencies instead. Think of a kid who’s spent the day playing Skee-Ball and now has a whole lot of tickets to spend. Every toy looks enticing. NFTs have become just such a plaything.

no matter how many condiments or wrappings you cover them in, they can leave nothing but a disgusting stench in the nose and a gag inducing taste on the tongue. there is only one way to handle the bourgeoisie, and that's by eliminating their class and making them the same as us

How much of your salary have you been donating to the cause comrade Zeff? I assume you have no material goods, no mortgage, etc?

How are you even posting on watmm? State owned library computer?

How do you sustain yourself, hopefully not buying food from a grocery store?

socialism: having no material goods and living in public libraries and eating out of dumpsters

That doesn’t answer any of my questions and I didn’t suggest any of that. I just want to know how you’re living. Because I’m pretty sure your endless ridiculous pro communism (yes communism, not socialism; you’re constantly advocating radical non-democratic overthrows to capitalist systems) posts are rife with hypocrisy.

You can espouse all of these anti bourgeoisie sentiments all you want but you v obviously support the same system you claim to oppose in thread after annoying thread.

On your 100k+ salary you make in an IT position, shopping at whole foods for your organic vegan groceries, on your HP pro laptop. Lol

I'd definitely pay to see that, zeff can donate his share of the profit to China.

Soon the easiest way for people to launder money on line will be back to selling broken clock radios to yourself on eBay through a dummy account in Japan for $9999.99 each.

Or maybe big-ticket collectible soda cans.

yes. everyday crypto becomes more valuable so theoretically, anyone buying into it (wether it's getting coins or NFTs) should see the value go up. the only difference with NFTs is whether anyone will want them 10+ years from now in order to sell them (eg. companies "leasing the NFT to use in a blockchain ad virtual billboard) considering he sold a single song for $490k

EDIT: misread your question. sorry about that

currently unaware of an NFT selling for more than it's original price. what you're currently seeing is FOMO. in fact, haven't even seen anyone offering to resell an NFT yet ?

I hope so. The royalities section of the smart contract is probably the best aspect of NFTs.

I'm sure most people know you can right click save, its the rarity/bragging rights they want. People pay ridiculous prices for first edition books/comics/literature.
