afx nft

If you look at the Foundation page for Aphex Twin it says 'invited by weirdcore' and if you look at Weirdcore's page they've had a bunch of Non-Fungible Tokens on there that have sold for an Eth or two. So probably RDJ is doing this to help Weirdcore out.

To me paying for an NFT makes about the same amount of sense as paying for an original banksy or an original damian hirst or whatever - the picture or painting could be copied just as easily as any digital artwork. Is the original any better to look at than a reproduction? Which is to say, NFTs dont make much sense, but then nothing else in the art-purchasing world makes any sense either. Its all just a mix of 'owning a piece of art' and 'maybe the value goes up if you're lucky'. A sortof highbrow gambling in which you also get to own maybe nice things.

Or, another example, its no different to the original pressing of Hangable Auto Bulb being limited to 500. Its the same music whether you own the rare vinyl or downloaded a pirate mp3 recording of the vinyl. Its value created by people deciding to value something. Value based on the concept of 'originallness' and an artifically rare artifact irrespective of the enjoyment of the piece of music itself, which we all know can be reproduced for zero cost.

So it all seems fair dinkum to me.

I like the idea of the Beeple guy unexpectedly making a load of money.

And perhaps this will help weirdcore out.

Yeah I also think that this concept and idea is only weirdcore and RDJ is just kind to help him out making a profit for his digital art.

Sometimes i feel bad for Cyanobacteria because damm it looks difficult to overthink, over analyse and over complicate things on a level as high as his. Don't take everything so damn serious man you don't need you post 4 book long paragraphs writing and dissecting some weird politically idealogical thinkpiece on an electronic music forum in a thread that's about digital art

I just don't see the advantage of "donating" via NFT compared to a regular donation (say, via PayPal or something). If anything, it seems more restrictive because in the end, only the highest bidder gets to donate.

donating via NFT or rather paying via NFT is better than through paypal which charges massive fees since they are a third party intermediary leech layer, it also prevents tracking if you are properly careful and prevents forcing the purchaser to be holding devalued and devaluable fiat "currency"

scam for you? scam for me? scam for anyone in this thread? no. scam only for whatever dumbass bought it lmao.  critique that person not the concept, because as other posters have mentioned this can be a great way to fund independent artists without relying on third party platform rent seekers

So all that money goes 100% to weirdcore and Afx then? Cool that even Warp says ok to that.

Now is up to them to prove what big plans and trees they are up to for the money huh?

Exciting times 🙂

But the thing you get the rights for as a winner of the bids is only that afx face with the sound you could see in the auction.. Nothing special. 🙂
