@BobDobalina I never hear this album brought up anymore, this was such a fun concept album. I really loved it at the time, a real throwback to the Tribe/De La Soul early 90s era.

Hope you're well dude, long time! I still remember that fun night we had out like a decade ago in Brooklyn. What show was that, Samiyam?

Cheers M8, I remember that well(ish)!  Your mixes (and the successes thereof) are def a happy! I think it was Daedelus headlining tho  Samiyam was probably on the bill, very brainfeedery iirc.  Got to meet Daedelus at his merch table and had an actual normal convo with him which was cool (except the part when he tried to dissuade me from buying something lol), then my poor friend was a mess and we had to bail before even getting to see him perform.  Drinks with you & yr lady beforehand were cool tho!

And yea still love what these guys brought, UD and PUTS been kept yer mans in grin mode for more than a minute now, good ol' hiphop done right.  Absolutely gutted at the passing of Mike Double K Turner.  He & Thes were the total package

You're right, it was totally Daedelus with Samiyam also on the bill. I also had a convo with him at the merch table, seemed like a really nice guy.

Shit dude, hadn't heard about Double K, that's rough to hear. PUTS was always consistently great, loved their energy.

Fuck yes. Underworld do euphoria like pretty much no others. Cherry Pie is my go-to uplifting track. The way it subtly builds from a single arpeggio into life-affirming warmth is phenomenal.

Karl's solo album is frequently along very similar lines tonally, if not stylistically.

@purlieu Yasss,  good call on a lot of those! Jumbo was always one of my favs, the part where the pads come in is one of the lushest things ever. Scribble is a great tune for running, so uplifting and high-energy. Underworld have saved my life a few times ngl.

This is a track that never fails to elevate me; there was a different - better - version (Yonderhead [version 2011]) available on YT some years back, with even better orchestration - it's an exquisitely beautiful track, and Feiner's voice complements it in a way that's really rare. This version's from Anywhen's The Opiates Revised (YouTube), an intimidating and amazingly beautiful album that became the band's last. There are no bad tracks on it, and Feiner's voice carries like a beacon through everything, his expressive range is huge - especially Dinah And The Beautiful Blue, Yonderhead, Toy and For Now. This is one of the rare albums I keep going back to and always sounds better than I remembered. Only the Revised version has Yonderhead and For Now, and it's missing Where's The Hight from the original - but if you decide to get a copy, go for the Revised one (it's actually a bit pricey).

Oh, and all albums by Koop (Sons of, Waltz for, Islands - Waltz for Alternative takes has its moments, too). Whenever There Is You was our wedding dance.

If Summer Sun doesn't make you happy, there's something wrong with you. Yukimi Nagano's vocals are sublime - I believe she was 17 at the time.

Someone asked what will be the first track of Elseq with its own thread. I’d like to propose Latentcall.

Why? It’s almost 15 mins of glory. I think that if his track was on say, Exai, we would write poems about it. People would cherish its monstrosity, length, grooviness, lush pads and shifting nature. Some could call it even the next Surripere.

Latentcall starts as a regular post-Exai track. It has a great rhythm to which heads constantly boob, and it has flickering melody with pads of Exai provenience. It's all pleasantly engaging. At over 6 min mark things start to change. The rhythm collapses. The beats are slowly dying. Pads and keys take lead. The machine is falling asleep. Mood sombers and gets melancholic. The melody - wait a minute, is there even a melody there? It seems so, but it’s really discrete and not immediately obvious. The pads become less artificial. They sound like even being played by a human. Technology however, is never too far away. Around 11 mins , simple beat comes in. The machine has returned. The rhythm has been reborn. At this point, the track gets ecstatic. Beat covered in deep reverb drags melody into itself. The beat has this wobbly feel that I loved so much on Irlie get 0.
Finally, both beat and melody slowly merge loosing its intensity and becoming more distant. The machine let it go and it starts to dissolve and melts away into darkness. At the end, there is nothing. Only thing that remains is silence.

      A true masterpiece!

      Thank you AE

No other musician and DJ has contributed to so much happiness in the heart of the average person. We need someone to inspire everybody to keep struggling through the hardship and the mess. We need someone like Tiesto. The greatest DJ to ever grace the planet Earth.

Alitalia has flights with crazy discounts for the next two days so I've decided to make my dream come true and go to Tokyo for a week in March. 500 euro for the return ticket from Rome!
The problem is that no one wants to come with me. If you live in Europe you're likely to find a low-cost flight to Rome for nothing or a combination flight through alitalia.
It doesn't generally bother me traveling alone but a 15 hour flight slightly frightens me.
      Wanna come with me?
      ...
Alternatively I would appreciate some advice on what not to miss if you've already been. Thanks!

Right, so today I turn 25. After meeting up with virtual strangers (and a gorgeous, british-accent-toting indian/middle-eastern-looking woman), I must say the birthday as started well.

Considering the fact that the (edit: birth)day is on Friday, I turn it to you, fellow watmmers: what are you doing this weekend (I would assume in celebration of my birth)?
