us intelligence overthrows ussr then complains about capitalist oligarchs taking power

it wasn't so much usa intelligence as usa outspending in the arms race for some stupid reason.. among other things.. defense budgets ate everything in russia. then usa mismanaging involvement when ussr collapsed. the mafia and corruption got involved really quickly in former soviet union.. literal garage sale of assets big and small to all kinds of people all over. also, instead of building up a solid financial/banking system it basically got turned over to exploitative banking right? i mean.. essentially a cartel.. then the mafia gripped so many things.

putin's own history in all this is rather involved. when aid was sent to st peteresburg he was in charge of distribution. instead of doing that he sold it off to mafia people and took the profits.. when it was investigated he stayed loyal to the local figurehead who was also in on it.. so was seen as someone who was loyal above all.. which is why drunken what's his name.. yelsin.. pulled him to follow up as president.. then the false flag of blowing up those apartment buildings happened... and that was blamed on chechnya and off to war russia went.. now a puppet is there.. that weirdo who talks about his cat all the time and hates gay people...

i'm sure i skipped some details.. the bit about putin in st peterburg has lot's of depth to it. a lot happened around that where he proved himself.

it's a crazy story. there's some good books about it and a few documentaries. "Putin's Way" was a 2 parter on Frontline that was good if you can find it. and the book about how shady he is and the lengths he'll go to "The man without a face: the unlikely rise of vladimir putin" is a good one.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12382651-the-man-without-a-face

going over and over about USSR vs USA is full of so many turns and twists and misconceptions etc. you'd have to read so much to really understand it. the cold war was such a sham that wrecked both countries a lot. we're all still suffering for it.

Why did Putin take a small army with old school tanks from 1952 to just take over 1 island with 10 Ukraine soldiers,
bombing some buildings and that's all?

Can you even call this a war? There is something really strange going on with this whole operation. Putin is just testing how the world is gonna react..
This is weird this shit.

Recon plus minimization of collateral damage. There has likely been an underestimation of the resistance, Chechens for instance did not except all the NATO equipment. According to several news outlets a Belorusian joint assault on Kiev is underway. The constant question is whether Putin will open up for further damage to infrastructure and civilians.

I’ve read he’s more paranoid and delusional now, no idea how this will play out, Russian public revolt, run on banks until they collapse causing riots and shortages in Russia? the generals come to some consensus this was all miscalculated and decide upon some action? Putin negotiates a cease fire with Ukraine and gets to keep the “breakaway” areas under some kind of control, or shared control? a demilitarized zone is declared on several borders? who knows. China is definitely watching for an opportunity, and learning, that’s for sure.

kinda hoping for the oligarchs to have someone take out putin if this get too hot and complicated and risky.

same way i hoped someone would take trump out.

A tiny bit of Novichok in Putin's morning tea would make everyone's lives easier

When nuclear is involved it changes everything. Wouldnt be surprised for a sudden Brutus.

The guy clearly has gone full bonkers.

But then who knows? What a shitty situation. This can go in so many directions.

this could be the 'crazy man' idea.. like how during the cold war it was widely spread that nixon was drunk and paranoid and crazy and willing to go nuclear. it was all a tactic to elicit hesitation in the soviets and back them down

It's probably poker. But if it's not...

Nuclear is no joke.

And i guess that's the strength of the Nuclear poker move. Everybody is afraid of Nukes. But even just to do that Poker move... you still have to be a fkin insane person.

And if de-escalation happens, and Poutine stays in power it probably means a new Cold War?

UGH

Yeah. That’s the way forward. He may of gone ‘full bonkers’ but there will be powerful people around him who realise that the world is a better place without living underground like a sewer rat because the air is too toxic to breathe because some cunt has decided a certain trajectory. Powerful people, as we all do enjoy the simple things in life like a glass of wine, like a glass of beer and enjoy their friends and family in the sunshine and all those other things. Somebody will blast his head off at point blank range and splatter his brain all across a perfectly painted white wall. Hopefully they will film it. So I can watch it and laugh.
