i wonder what synth they used for the bass/lead in roygbiv. thats a seriously funky sound

The bass is either an SH-101 or MC 202. I have a 202 and can get the exact same sound.

Hey dude, you think you could record you playing the preset? Or even better, if you can, the actual line from Roygbiv itself? Much appreciated.

then the secret weapon become two secret weapons...then that became two people they would rather not name that borught some tech to the camp.

its skill. you cant buy any 'weapon' and be good. you either have it or you dont.

according to boc in an interview i read about the time mhtrtc came out they said they had a secret weapon (weppin if you may hehe)

i totally don't reckon there is any cs80 on there. bunny rabbits list looks reasonable enough.

Yeah, I'll get round to it one day - I wanna do this as the question keeps cropping up but I'm busy and my DAW install is fucked at the mo.

In the meantime here's the patch:

LFO - Rate = 4, Delay = 1

VCO - Tune = 1, Pulsewidth = 10 LFO.

Source Mixer - Pulse = 5, Saw = 7, Sub OSC = 10 1 Oct down

VCF - Freq = 7, Res = 6, Env = 2 Mod = 1, Keyb = 3.

VCA - Env

ENV - Attack = 1, Delay = 10, Sustain = 0, Release = 10.

Obviously this will need tweaking a bit, per machine.

So, I've finally got my PC fixed and here is, I hope, the definitive answer to the perenial Roygbiv bassline what/how question.

I start with the filter cutoff open to 6.5 and the saw on 7, bring in the rest of the sources, sort the VCF section out then the LFO and VCO sections and the env. This is on my MC-202 although the SH-101 is probably what BOC use.

I think the key to the sound is the PWM that you can hear come in at about 27 secs.
