Just listening to the single for the first time - don't know how I missed this thread.

Really makes me want to go out and buy about 15 subs with an amp to match.

The voice reminds me of UT1-dot

In the meantime I do recommend checking out his Superposition album from last year, which seems to have been fairly overlooked. It's probably one of my favorite albums of his; has a good blend of all of his styles, including some inspiration from minimalism (and a track from Supercodex for some reason).

Wasn't the Supercodex CD released as part of the Superposition project?

According to his website, yeah, and really early on in the Superposition project too. Which explains why a variation of Supercodex 19 appears at the very end of Superposition performance and CD then.

New single, "ultratronics 15" now available wherever's most convenient here: https://idol-io.link/ultratronics15

It's pretty good. Haven't had much new ambient Ikeda like this in years.

You can also get a shirt with the album name on it for some reason.https://codexedition.com/products/ultratronics_t-shirt

Forum's rolled back so I may as well shill the album again now that it's out: It's good and probably is best since (or even better than) Dataplex. Like I think this is his most playful work, lol.

Performance of Ultrasonics at the Barbican on Wed 8 Nov 2023.

Quote

Renowned visual and sound artist Ryoji Ikeda performs the UK live debut of Ultratronics – a unique audiovisual concert based on his latest album, ultratronics released in 2022.

Featuring audio material recorded between 1989 and 1999 and compositions created between 2013 and 2022, ultratronics explores sound’s arithmetical and computational essence and renders them into the propulsive auditory experience that constitutes Ikeda’s sound signature.

Taking the shape of an audiovisual concert, this special live performance of ultratronics uses raw data and mathematical models to generate music and projections. What at first sounds like a battle of digital noise, blips and bass drones, gradually engages the listener with elements of techno and dance music. The use of stark visuals adds textures to percussion, making it difficult to distinguish between the senses. Ikeda creates a union between visual and auditory dimensions, revealing the arithmetical and computational essence of sound.

Went to Barbican show last night. It's been a minute since I've seen/heard him live. The sound was great, the bass and the kicks, Ooff. Glad I took my earplugs with me.

Visuals were impressive, intense, but impressive.

ultratronics 09 felt like Pan Sonic, it really slapped. Excellent gig, one of the highlights this year.
