Soul Oddity - Tone Capsule (Astralwerks; Capsule Freak remaster/reissue)

A collection of the three seminal Soul Oddity EPs from 1996 remastered by Keith Tenniswood (Radioactive Man), pressed on fresh vinyl, launching a reissue series (Capsule Freak) - so watch out for more. Extremely highly recommended.

This.

Incredibly forward thinking, funky, electro/IDM that holds up so well all these years later. If there is anyone here who has yet to hear this classic, I suggest you remedy this ASAP.

not sure about began but merck records, and schematic were making waves in the late nineties/ early 2000s

Astralwerks, and later Nothing Records also helped to bring the UK sound to American ears, and the music media.

First listen through the remaster - super crisp and clean.  Also notice maybe some slight new edits/additions to some of the tracks?  Some of them have extended track lengths from the original release (Fugue is over 1:00 longer, Cruxx also extended by 30+ secs, etc).

Massive album, highly recommended to anyone that liked anything Phoenecia related and the late 90s IDM sound. This album still sounds so fresh to me and I think I first heard it in about 2006.

The bonus track Chrome Ozone is fucking great - I was apprehensive that they'd append a throwaway extra but it's not the case at all.

Always been one of my favorite tracks of theirs. So nice to have it in lossless vs my vinyl rip I’ve been playing for years.
