Genuinely can't remember this ever being asked on here. Which is not that surprising given that it's a forum for hardcore Aphex bumboys.

Please feel free to name the worst of all aphex tracks that have been officially released.

Obviously some of the soundcloud stuff is bottom of the pile, like that nutcracker one or noddy, or the joni mitchell thing. Or was there a pink floyd sampling track or did I dream that?  Quite a lot to choose from tbf.

What I'm really interested in is the stuff that has been released.

I'll start...

Come to Daddy

Arched Maid Via RDJ

The worst I can think of..

That Houston EP

Fire away

Ven to lin. End of story. I've had tinnitus since birth so the double trouble makes it unbearable. I have never listened to it in full

I have to say that I disagree with just about every opinion so far.

LOVE Cheetah (all of it)

LOVE Ventolin (all of it)

I don’t count KTPA2 and all of them Fuji tracks (and a healthy percentage of the SoundCloud dump), etc because they are clearly just experiments.
I’m sure there is something worse but Slo Bird Whistle (Peel Sessions) is pretty unlistenable to me.

I’m expecting to love a lot more stuff that gets mentioned in this thread.

This 100%.. The moment I hear that sound Im like "Nope" and switch track fast as fuck. However the Ventolin Remix by Cylob Is a killer

perunamuusi arched maid via rdj? Are u nuts? So epic track. I love to play it at a little bit slower speed. What is it that u don't like about it?

Not really a fan of HAB. Come To Daddy EP took that sound to the next level. HAB is pretty weak imo.

I also dislike any of the tracks off of Classics. Really badly abrasive sjeiss. I like myself a loud track every now and then but the way the tracks are mixed makes it really unpleasant

I suppose it depends how you define worst, whether they are obvious flimsy throwaways, whether they lack interesting ideas or developments, or whether they fail to achieve the aims they set themselves.

The juvenile PBoD stuff mentioned upthread is a contender but can kind of be excused cause it was never meant for release and was just training wheel stuff.

Some of the more forgettable trax on ABB2&3 kind of falls into this catagory as well for me.

The Devil's Haircut remix might be up there because its clearly a sort of mid-tier unfinished track with vocals sloppily pasted on top he tossed off for money..i rarely listen to it but at least it is myth-building.

The noise and electro-acoustic stuff on Smojphace/Fuji I kind of don't feel qualified to judge. Sure they don't deliver the usual hit of melodies/rhythms etc you'd want from Aphex but they do stand up to the sort of artists they are attempting to emulate.

He has sort of managed to build up the sort of mystique that when he releases something that sounds like it was tossed off in a few hours, you start questioning yourself, like was it meant to be shit? If you can make gold like he obv can, why release turds?, there has to be some reason. Then he'll come out in an interview and say some mad shit like Naks Acid (for example) is his favorite track ever and people just dont get it.

Orphaned deejay selek is mostly a collection of misses for me. I think I've managed to listen to it in its entirety maybe twice?

I like that one!

I remember years ago on an Orbital forum, people absolutely hated Naks Acid. I really liked it. Still do.

Nooooo

Seriously hell no! he played one of those tracks in paris and everyone went nuts! The digitals sound amazing 2

For me it wouldn't be afx if there isn't at least 1 track that doesn't do it for me on a release

Also Flim and archmaid are amazing songd but i usually skip those 🙃

No.

Spoiler

Seriously, this is one of my favorite early AFX tracks. The synth lines are alive like nothing else.

The only album I've not bought - I like the occasional dustbin raking but nearly an entire CDs worth of them is too much. Of course there is an exception on the album and one of my faves:

I have found the album less abrasive as I've got older though - could be my old-man (with tinnitussy overtones) ears taming some of the high frequency shreaking that annoyed teenage me

Gosh I see a lot of tracks listed here that I really like. Only thing that really comes to mind are the KTPA tracks, especially because "Run The Place Red" starts the EP off great then you just get balloon hell noises for 12 minutes.
