IRAIL: 1:05, so far i like it, the sound of the synth is warm - i'd like some changes to appear, maybe some dark rhythm - 1:20 here it is though it's not dark as i expected (i wanted BASS, something slow with a very low and long kick  ) waiting for those mini rimshots to evolve or something, the snare is starting to irritate me... too common for my taste and its programming is very repetitive... pads and rhythm have gone away, the transition could be better, beat enters again, same snare :cry2: i think you should vary the drum/sounds programming a little (or a lot), unless the track is meant to be repetitive.

well i hope some bits of my post can be constructive, just writing now what i thought. the intro made me expect very much from this track.

i like that fuzz on the main synth, and the pattern is really nice, it's got a warm SAWII sound to it. i didn't like the panning on the click noise, or the snare. i would have liked the drums more if it was just a steady bass drum(or a, boom . kat . boom boom. kat .) along with a snare, and a hit hat.

it feels like a work in progress. and if you change the drums it could be a really good track.

That's actually what it was originally, but I thought it sounded too boring. Thanks, though, very constructive comments.

use a long and low kick ;)

edit: without distortion, something really clean to contrast with the synths :)

yeah man, this track is dieing for a bass drum. i think it would sound really good if it came in around the half point mark (i'm not sure how long the track is). i really like the melody alot.

IRAIL the update:

damn those pads really have something, i really <3 their sound. hmm still don't like the beat although i find it better than the previous one... (secretly expecting another synth to come in, square or sawtooth)... clicklicklicklicklickyclick... poum tchak poum tchak, i think the beat @ 3:14 would be better without distortion, it gets lost in the mix (maybe that's intended though). then nothing is really happening and i still don't like your snare, fade out.

still find it better than the previous one. your pads are beautiful, as in *beautiful*. i want that track to be perfect :) according to my taste indeed. keep up :)

second listen: the beat doesn't disturb as much as during the first listen, but i'd like some variations in it. especially a velocity variation in the "roll" @ 2:42...

/back to my personal trackage

Thanks. I'm really, really sick of working on this track. I have no attention span; it's a miracle I got this far on it. Maybe I'll come back to it some day, but for now I'd like to start something else. Your comments were very helpful, though. Thanks again.

i hope i'm not discouraging you (does that word exist?). i basically tell what i would do if i were you, what spring to my mind while listening to it, but it's often easier to be inspired by someone else's work than by your own. those rare moments are called grace btw aren't they?

Nah, I'm just tired of it. The bad thing about using trackers is that they really can suck the life out of you. Everything's just typing and hitting play; over and over again. I guess choosing between something like FL or Renoise would be fun vs. efficiency. I guess efficiency's better, but god damn, is it draining.

reason has no vst support, and I know nothing about Cubase. Plus, I just switched from FL to Renoise a relatively short time ago, and that's kinda jarring to the creative process. I don't think I could take another switch just now.

I've tried using programs like fruity loops and cubase. i don't like them, for me they are too impersonal. they sound nice and they're vst compatible but i never feel like i can truley express myself with that kind of software. i love using reason, it's like drawing a picture...i think hardware is always the best way to go....but it's not cheap.

anyway, i've listened to this updated version twice now and i can say that i really have no complaints. i think the new drums blend and sound very good. the subtle changes work perfectly with the vibe of the music.

NICE WORK.

yeah i get what you mean, but reason + cubase must be a great environment (you can rewire them so cubase is master and reason slave or somehting like this) i should try that myself.
