So, for a while, Ive had an annoying little hum comming from my setup. I wrote it off as a shit ground loop, mostly because the wiring in my apartment bears little resemblance to a modern electrical plan. However, I turned my Kawai off the other day to move it and noticed the hum stopped immediately. Turn it on? Hum. Off? no hum. On with no volume? Hum. Unpluged 1/4" leads from mixer? No hum.

So I haven't really done any more troubleshooting and I will on my own at some point but, could this be something as simple as dirty contacts or something? The 1/4" cables are brand new (although shity guitar center ones), so I doubt it's them.

Thanks in advance

try these things:

1. lose grounding on whatever you record into, ie mixer or computer or both (with 3-2 adapter)

2. try plugging kawai into same power strip as everything else

3. try plugging kawai into different power strip as everything else

4. combine 1 with 2 and 3

if that don't work, panic
