DUBSTEP::::::::::

Atop

Recommended Posts

Mr Slash, Virgo, and Davinche come to mind when I am speaking of shitty producers..........

Davinche? Fuck off. He rocks the dope uptempo stuff that stops Dubstep degenerating into a stoner student thing.

lol that davinche shit is horrible.

seriously. that's shit. That Wiley feat. Kano track one of them rhymes "table" with.....wait for it.....

"table"

I don't care if that is his trademark that's shit. There are 15 year olds with better prose than that.

Nope haven't heard any Wiley at all. Doesn't faze me though...I've heard enough music to say that that's shit.

Guest maantecaaa!!!

I'm still trying to like it.. I like the basslines and stuff but it seems to be in a weird spot tempo-wise.. Like it's too slow to be dnb and it's too fast to be dub..Not sure what else it's good for besides ambience.

dubstep is good. not all of it. its better than some cut up guitar sample Kranky record for the 999th time.

here is my show from last week, begins with about 30 min of allll new dubstep. first mix is a trainwreck, then its OK.

all the Shackleton tracks I have heard do indeed rock the dreadlock.....

yeah Chen, see, there is some cheesey ass shit that people are trying to pass off as good 'dubstep' or 'grime'.....

the brits like cheese.......in food form and/or music.......

we'z got some Texans who are turning it up and out though, Mundo and Parson!

N-Type is some good shit as well, not a Texan though..............

Bass Clef seems to be one of te best hybrids of drill and dubstep, he and Boxcutter.........makin' the mad jamz ya'll!

where's Chris Moss when you need him?

I need to be called out for making fun of the UK and cheese and saying the word jam..........

if dubstep is anything like dub then i hate it to death because dub is just a crappy version of reggae which also sucks. i apologize Akkad but we must disagree on this musical point!

nevertheless you are still a giant among imps!

although i must state that i haven't yet heard any of this genre and i will listen to these samples that you, good and virtuous Akkad, have laid about my feet as an offering of goodwill.

Raggae is hillarious, its like the anti-Western music. To us, repeating the same song endlessly would be plagerizing. In Jamacia, "You like Sleng Teng riddim? We give you 458 singles with Sleng Teng riddim, this month!"

Its often shit because each month, 198 different 7" 45's are pressed. You have to really wade through the crap. Check out the King Jammy compilation set on VP Records, good gems there!

just get a good studio one compilation, reggae/dub isnt really that mysterious or terrible or silly. a lot of it is fucking great.

There's just sooooo much released, sooo much. A friend of mine is really into it, he used to get tapes from this guy who lived in Jamacia and would ship singles out internationally. Every two week's he'd send out *4* 90 minute casettes, filled with 30 second clips of each new single. That's alot of tracks every two weeks. People also don't get the concept of the "riddim". Like, seriouisly, you will heae Sleng Teng in well over 100 different Raggae singles, probably alot more. To someone growing up on Western pop its confusing because you're like "Wtf? this is the same as that other song??". You just have to get that in Jamacia each month, different "riddims"(rhythms) are popular, and once they got hot, every little carribean music studio will be pumping out the tracks with that new hot sound.
