Burial - Untrue

Ghost Hardware was his best yet, I'm ready for this . . .

Not to mention King Midas Sound (The Bug + Some other Guy) releasing 'Cool Out' with a Burial mix on the other side. Cool Out is a great track (it was on a Kode9 mix he did for sonar i think). November will be good. My first born is being greeted into the world with new output from burial, to bad he won't be able to appreciate it properly. . .

oh hmm, yeah, only ghost hardware was taken from the recent EP ... that's sort of annoying. maybe the tracks that aren't on vinyl are ambient or interconnecting tracks (like the intro/outro left off his first LP)

oh yeah it was... i'm not super into him, but he's got a great sound. there's maybe 4 or 5 tracks i love off of the s/t record, but the rest doesn't really connect with me. but that's probably cause i'm not real into the more jungle references and that. not really the intended audience.

the whole completely NONquantized drums thing he's gone into at length in interviews has a lovely feel to it. and he has lovely textures.

i don't even really consider burial a dubstep artist, really, in comparison to say n-type or skream. he is to 'dubstep' what autechre are to 'electronic music' i guess, he operates slightly outside the genre.

well that's what i like... the environment everything exists in. you posted that interview in the dubstep thread where he talks about 'key sounds' which is exactly what i'm into.

and yeah, most dubstep stuff i've heard is very clean and punchy... sort of like drum n bass in terms of it all being clinically (in a good way) composed for bass weight and compressed for maximum punch and that sort of thing.

burial's stuff remindsme more of stuff like what tricky and that were doing in the mid 90s... i don't know what you call it, but that sort of spectral pan-electronic music. it's got a lot more in common with basic channel and all that berlin dub stuff really. maybe the people who are into dubstep haven't heard any of those things and haven't heard the lineage.

Just hoping for a track as good as "Nite Train" or "Unite".

BTW, has anyone broken down the sampes he uses? I know he samples Michael Jackson on "Nite Train" and Christina Aguilera on "Ghost Hardware".

Forgot to mention the samples of 21 Grams and Ghost Dog. I'm more interested in the vocal samples though.

I'm starting to be sick of his garage beats since Ghost Hardware came out. That EP was overall better than his debut album, imo.

he sampled "the mothman prophecies" on the last track on the burial album. where does he sample "21 grams"? I haven't seen that movie.

As the scene's keenest scribe-cum-producer, Blackdown's blog and Keysound label were at the core of the genre’s early sound, placing him in proximity to key players including Burial. Like we mentioned, Burial’s remix of ‘Crackle Blues’ in 2006 was, just like his debut 12”, sorely overlooked at the time, and remains one of his tightest and most effective garagey/woodblock productions.
On the ’Shock Power Of Love’ EP they check in 15 years later for a 2-step pow wow, passing the peace-pipe over cuts of Detroit-inspired garage and deep-fried, crispy London soul music. Blackdown gives clear nods to his 313 inspiration on both sides, framing his restless subs and garage swing with sampled, house declarations and soaring pads in ‘The Journey VIP’ while nodding to Juan Atkins and Red Planet via Geeneus in a remix of Heatmap’s ‘Arklight.’ Burial is at his signature best on the other two, frothing choral vocals into a scissored 2-step shuffle on ‘Dark Gethsemane’ before rolling out fathoms deep into the iridescent trance leads and scalp-stroking Reese bass licks of ’Space Cadet.’

It's that time of year. This just showed up on Japanese website Ototoy.

It just wouldn't be Christmas otherwise.

It's Christmas. That means one thing. Or maybe not.

Would rather have had one killer Christmas track than staggered eps of blandness all year.

      What say the WATMM massif?

Out on Friday. I know, the 'Burial' sound is something everyone either likes or doesn't. Sometimes I think it's nothing more than some crackling effects and tape hiss but probably there is more to it than that.
Personally, I love the Burial mix on this. The other tracks are also good.
