Thinking of buying one of these or something similar, anyone had any experience with one?

you know i've got one of these don't you??? well, i've got a QY70 which is pretty much exactly the same.... it's fucking wicked man!! well good for sequencing other synths with and that and also quite good on it's own - good XG sounds on it. most of my new tunes (in my sig) are totally sequenced with one of these. get one man, they're well good.

I originally got mine for controlling my other midi gear (laptop free gigs!), but then I got an MMT8 for that (which is like the most jammable live sequencer ever) and I use my QY70 as a portable ideas box for travelling etc.

They are cool but they run out of memory frustratingly quick. Check the many QY-70 threads on here.

I read this one takes SD cards... that would be wicked

"making tunes with giraffes" could imply that he wants some evidence of giraffeness to be present in the track. With a midi only module, this is clearly not possible. Hence I'm making sure he knows what he's buying.

thats the main reason my qy700 is sat around gathering dust. i didnt know what i was buying and when i got it i couldnt be arsed reading the instruction manual.

this is the 700 btw, i think its a whole different kettle of fish tbh, its certainly not portable. as for removable memory, no idea.

Doesnt it have a floppy drive?

Your main reason for not using it is no audio then?

nah my main reason for not using it is extreme laziness. only since i quit weed at new year have i found my self with the energy to spend hours fiddling with options and controls and working out new synths and fixing my hardware and sorting out sequencer troubles. ive actually had it for about a year and half, and apart from turning it on and having a look i just couldnt be arsed. i always buy things expecting to able to turn them on and just start getting the notes out of my head but the qy700 is not that kinda beast.

laziness is also the reason ive still got it, even though im poor as shit now and left with a bunch of stuff i dont really use becuse ive got a decent audio interface and a sequencer and a top class PC.

Doesn't need to record audio, but I don't think I could handle running out of space, and the QY 100 seems to be the only one with memory slots.. SD too

how much can the QY22 store BCM?

There's this thing called "inspiration" which can be derived from one's surroundings.

Doesn't need to record audio,

Just as I thought.

(yes yes I know you were just trying to be helpful, I'm just playing around)

nah I just want giraffe's near me, I don't need to record thier noises.. just absorbing the giraffeness will enhance my musical thoughts
