Well, I was just into the business of uploading it, but if we can host it here, I'd be more than happy to submit it that way.

I also have an edited/mastered version of their live "set" at Stormy Waters in 1995 that I've been thinking of making available here. I suppose that could be officially given a home on this site if that's also acceptable to them.

You got it. I'll upload it to an external host until such time as it can find a home here, if applicable. I'll post back once it's good to go.

Can someone turn those into Mp3s for me please?

I'll do it after my work. If noone did it before, obviously. I'll make v0 lame mp3 files. Ace!

PS: badongo doesn't seem to be the greatest mirror site... I recommend you to use http://www.mediafire.com for future uploads. They have a 100mb per file limit like almost all of the other file mirror sites but you can use multi-part zip or rar files (each 99MB) and upload those to mediafire. Just a recommendation.

why? what's wrong with the CD mix in the first place?

i'm not a big fan of this whole "let's have someone amateur remaster something" but i can see the argument for it when it's a live bootleg. in this case, i'd rather hear the exact CD mix.

I've been doing this for a living for over 10 years, in one form or another, so I stand by my work. In fact, I just redid the mastering on Radio Mix only a couple of days ago, to be 100% sure it was as good as possible, with no squaring off or distortion. I didn't apply any EQ - it's just that the original mix had wild variations in amplitude from one track to the next, and it was all relatively weak compared to the rest of their discography.

That said, I do appreciate how not everybody might want the finagled version, and I do still have it untouched, straight off the CD, if you want it that way. It's just that with every new release in everybody's discography being compressed all to hell, it almost becomes mandatory to follow suit with any older material from back when the standards weren't quite the same. You know, just for continuity purposes. I still haven't made it as loud as some of their official releases.

I do like Mediafire, but since I'm on a Mac, I can't easily split archive files. Yeah, believe it or not, there's no easy way to do that on a Mac. I do have one app that'll do it, but I'm not 100% sure it'll be useable on a PC.

I have yet to find a good online host, apart from Megaupload, which requires a recipient e-mail... But I think there's an easy way around that if I just want to post the link here. I might be able to use it in this case anyway. I'll try again and post the link here once it's up.

i'd be more than happy to archive your remaster here P-Rex, but the original is most important for archiving purposes.

I'm currently uploading both the remastered and raw versions of the mix, in FLAC, as I write this. Progress is at 60%, give or take.

It's great if they could find a home here, as no regular host is entirely satisfactory.

And I'm currently uploading the following files:

  1. 1997-03-xx - radio mix (warp cd 51) (interview).mp3
  2. 1997-03-xx - radio mix (warp cd 51) (remastered by pusillanimous).mp3
  3. 2008-04-12 - can-ontario-toronto - lee's palace (remastered by fredd-e).part1.rar
  4. 2008-04-12 - can-ontario-toronto - lee's palace (remastered by fredd-e).part2.rar

All of these files are encoded with lame mp3 encoder at v0 settings (--alt preset extreme). The source of the first two files are the flac files as provided by PusillanimousRex in this thread and converted to mp3 as requested by Rook.

The last two files are a multi-part-rar file which contains my improved version of the lee's palace autechre live show.

ETA on uploading: 30 minutes as of now.

Live Stormy Waters is fucking sick!

DLing radio mix now

thanks so much!

I've yet to finish editing/mastering the entire show, though rest assured what you have is Ae's only contribution. I suppose I should get around to it soon, just because.... I'm also not 100% thrilled with the mastering job on it so far, and I've been thinking of redoing it. It's from a VHS tape, and it was one of my first remasters, from about 8 years or so ago.

Still, it's certainly acceptable, and I've been thinking of spreading it around for some years now. Hope you enjoy it. It is a wicked track, from back in the Tri Rep/Anvil days, for anyone who misses that era.
