Kontakt 3 Video

i figured i'd post this for the ekt crowd. it's one of a pile of videos i'm making for a company a friend of mine is starting up.

most people here probably already know the info in the video (even more so in the other logic videos we've been working on), but its MILDLY humorous to watch (what with the low-rent film noir intro and outro and all) and hey, maybe you don't know the info.

it's about using tone machine in K3 to manipulate drum sounds into pad sounds.

neato.

if you guys have suggestions for videos, let me know... either things you'd love to know more about or things you think others might want to know. could be quite helpful.

cheers,

c

wow thats badass! i wished kontakt wasn't the most buggy program i've ever used besides Absynth 4 or else i would use these techniques in a song!

man... tell me about it. i was recently using this very technique with some found sound type stuff when kontakt suddenly started dropping certain notes. just random notes in a sequence wouldn't play. so i figured i'd upgrade to the newer version... which, well, fixed that problem... but introduced a new one whereupon all my tone machine instruments glitch, crackle and pop to no end.

NI is going pear-shaped unbelievably fast... they keep repackaging the same products lately and doing nothing new, and the regular stuff STILL doesn't work right. it's kind of a shame, i used to use nothing but NI stuff.

i know man its a shame too because NI products are kind of what got me seriously into making music, specifically Reaktor. Reaktor 3 was fantastic it came with basic building block ISM files of everything you could ever want. they also gave you tons of example patches that had simple guis with no graphics (just knobs) and very simple functionality, like a reverb with 3 controls or a delay with 2 controls, something thats very easy to reverse engineer and learn from. Then while R3 was still buggy as hell they launch R4 with shit changed around for no reason, lots of cool new features but even more buggy and all example patches that came with it pretty hard to reverse engineer. and to top it the fuck off they made it so you had to have a REAKTOR 3 dongle to load in your old patches into 4, jesus christ! I never owned 3, i just made patches with the demo and loved the patches that came with it so now with 4 i cant use any of them? fuck that, NI has really gone down the tubes/.

*says same thing as Awepittance*

that note dropping thing seems to be an exclusive feature to NI products. I've had that happen with kontakt, battery and absynth... but no other VSTs.

it's a shame.
