technique i want to know

i was listening to xyz by boc. the beats almost seemed like they were speeding up and then slowing down... but not changing pitching ,

i've done a similar thing in cool edit where i manipulated a wav so it slowed down, and then reversing it so it sped up a bit, kinda trippy effect.

also my yamaha rm1x had a knob that would do a similar thing but it was a midi effect. speed up the beat, slow it down, stretching it out a bit so the loop last longer....

yeah

so by now i'm hoping someone konws what i'm talking about? is there a vst effect that does this kind of stuff, without affecting the pitch?

much fun could ensue playing with an effect like this

that's all,

thanks,

yekKER,

er, are you talking about timestretch? this is an effect that comes as standard with loads of audio editing software and sounds like what you're after, but it is usually applied post production...not sure if there's a VST that does is in realtime... Probably is come to think of it - try googling "timestretching in real time" or something....

it's more like the effects in cooledit : turntable slowing downm >>> turntable speeding up

you said you wanted the pitch to stay the same - an effect that recreated a turntable slowing down/speeding up would alter the pitch. what is it that you want?? if you want to slow something down or speed it up without altering the pitch then you use a timestretcher, if you want to recreate turntable like slow downs/speed ups, try Vinyl Boy VST.

i think he is talking about something like the beats in sixtyniner, first track on twosim (BOC). The beats seems to slow down and speed up in every measure, yet is somehow keeps beat, i dont get it, but its amazing

is that what you mean?

edit: now that i think about it, you could probably automate the tempo in a slight fashion in a new project with only beats, then bounce to wav and insert the wav into your real song where the tempo isnt automated. ya know?
