Boards of Canada hired Elektron to make them a completely analog version of both the Machinedrum and the Monomachine...

No, it's just that a few users tend to over-analyze Autechre, as if it had as many secrets as Geogaddi.

here are some corrections:

blyz castl was done by rob with an mpc using some machinedrum samples amongst others.

im sure rook will also notice the oddness of this statement.

Most of the samples used on that song come stock in the sample ROM

of the machinedrum UW. Why would autechre sample into their MPC sample presets from the machinedrum?

Rob wanted to use machineydrum sounds but didn't want to learn how to use the machinedrum. lol?

I actually totally suspected that Fermium and Simmm used the same bits.

But yea, Sean, can you please tell me how to get that snare sound please?

Which snare sound? (sorry I'm not Sean btw)

The one Sean referred to in the post above. The LCC snare sound and the one throughout all the livesets. I have come pretty close, but not quite.

its pretty easy to get those effets if you modulate the stereo pan of the output with the phased signal of a sample

Is there anything good/interesting about that bouncey castle track off Quaristice?

its like sean and rob forgot they are autechre and started ripping their own ideas to sound like autechre, yet more mundane

How do you rip off yourself?

This is along the same lines as the guy from the L.A. show saying "yeaaa.. this doesn't sound like autechre at all!" "yea, man"

You bought a ticket - it says autechre - they could be playing with Sesame Street toys and it's still autechre. progression is what it's all about.

anddddd.. Simmm is clearly Max with other stuff added :)

What's your opinion on the influence that the Manchinedrum and Monomachine have had in Autechre's musical direction?

I can help being a little biased in this matter but I listen to the recent live sets a lot more than any album these days in fact they never come off my mp3 player.

Saying that I was never a big Autechre fan until a few years ago but I appreciate their past work a lot more now.

not read any of this thread but i can honestly say that Quaristice reaks of Machinedrum twiddling - a number of the timbres and tones that appear in passages throughout the album have that distinctive elektron sound. I own one - and definitely hear the same shit going on between machine and album, particularly the delay and bit reduction on parts.

It isn't really a scale. It starts be descending the Eb Locrian and then when it gets to Gb it rises in whole steps and is harmonized with a major third below it. Kind of hard to explain without notations. Plus, there is another harmony going on underneath it which is easier to hear in the live version.
