Am I hearing what I think I'm hearing?

I've had this album by this "industrial" band since 2003, and yesterday I listened to this track and I swear I'm hearing a sample of Opening the Mouth.  I don't have the cover art anymore, and I can't find any release or copyright information on this album other than it was released the same year as Geogaddi.

I'm under the impression that the track was a BoC homage.

i can't download these files because i am using a child's XO OLPC computer.

sampling Boards of Canada causes brain leeches. if that industrial band used the sample they are probably in the hospital.

So nobody else (that can listen to it, and therefore contribute something to the thread) hears this?

Yes! That is definitely the same sample dude. Towards the center. That sample scares me.

Good find.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "good find", I'm a little embarassed it took me this long to put it together.

Lots of samples off Geogaddi came from off the net, etc. Energy Warning was an old recording off this site of 70's PSA announcements.

But the sample here must have come from Geogaddi, unless they reconstructed the flutes and vocals.  Seems it would have been easier to just ask for permission to sample.

yeah, more than likely it is from Geogaddi - now the band will see this and probably send a nice letter to the infringers!

Well, I would have checked the cover art for credits, but I lost it years ago, and I scoured the label website and the wikipedia and amazon pages for the credits, and I can't find anything. It seems unlikely that a band on a Christian label would sample without permission. Unless there is a staggering amount of irony here . . .

i'd say they definately rip geogaddi... it's pretty poor show ripping of a track you like from the previous year and used in the exact same context aswell...

but it's interesting how they predict the BoC guitar sound of the future (TCH)

Geogaddi was released in '02, right?  The album this track is on was released the same year, but the rest of the album is completely different.
