Parachuting?

Berk

Recommended Posts

I might have the opportunity to jump out of a plane (not above rushup edge :( ) and parachute next month or so, but I'm a huge chicken so I probably won't do it anyway.

I was wondering if anybody on WATMM has ever parachuted. If so, was it a pleasant experience? :undecided:

bet there will be loads of Xtreme stories in here soon

lol. Serene despite the fact that her immense breasts were no doubt pummeling her face?

Seriously, I think it'd be hard to chicken out. I went up on a plane with about 15 other people, they all jumped. It's almost always the case that the first jump is a tandem jump, it'd be hard to lose your nerve with an instructor on your back egging you on, or maybe even giving you the last push.

I found the best part by far to be leaving the plane; you have to turn with your back to the door and grip the sides, when you get yourself braced in the doorway the wind really starts whipping at you and you can feel the reality of "you are about to hurl yourself from a functioning aircraft, this is not something you should be doing." Then you have to push yourself backwards and clear of the plane, and as you do this the plane kind of somersaults away from your field of view, which was a rush.

The rest of it I found less exciting - without the aircraft there, you kind of lose your frame of reference.

did you hear about the dude who's parachute never opened and all that happened was he got two broken legs? you should be fine

lol goddammit

The only person I know who parachuted once didn't like it at all. Good to hear about people that thought it was fun or great.

The thing is, I pretty much hate rollercoasters and stuff like that (I get nauseaous most of the times), so I'm kind of worried that parachuting won't go down well with me either (see what I did there).

This is a great idea, be sure to rig everybody elses parachute before jumping though, so that your the only one that lands safely and you'll look really cool.

not impressed by the fake somerset/cornwall accents...

re: parachuting though - yes, do it! you only live once, so even if you fucking hate it, at least you've gained a crazy life experience. can't say i've done it myself but i fully intend to - i'm one of those annoying XtReMe types.

how expensive is it?

no way id do this. plummeting to my death no thank you. ever heard of someone fainting from being too overwhelmed or whatever? well, goddamnit whats stopping you from passing out mid-fall and not being conscious to open your chute? seems pretty dumb! i mean i get why people do it but cmon, you might freak out and pass out, and then *poof*, you dont exist. is it really worth it for the rush, the ada....?
